[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1432413] Re: Synaptic Touchpad xevents are hijacked under X

2015-08-05 Thread Igor Lopez
I have now installed latest wily from daily builds which still has the same
problem.
This is on a separate disk so I have no problem using it for testing/patching
or what is needed to fix the problem as long we get it fixed before next LTS.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1462994] Re: 2:1.17.1-0ubuntu4 broke xmir ABI

2015-08-05 Thread Andrea Bernabei
I hit this bug today
on vivid overlay PPA.

My laptop was not booting anymore. I was adviced to reinstall the older
xserver-xorg-core (1.17.1-0ubuntu3) and that fixed it.

The overlay ppa currently offers:
xserver-xorg-core --- 1.17.2-1ubuntu0.1~overlay1(and this is the version
causing issues)
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917-1~exp1ubuntu2.2 (and this version
doesn't seem to contain the fix)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481330] Re: Xmir crashes when client closes display

2015-08-05 Thread Christopher Townsend
I'm not sure if Xmir crashes. I ran xprop w/ gdb and it just seems Xmir
exits when the client closes the display. I also don't get any crash
file nor any evidence of a core dump.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1479009] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT when browsing aliexpress.com with Firefox

2015-08-05 Thread Mikaela Suomalainen
Yes I have and the package doesn't exist in those repositories.

The crashing also got more frequent also outside of what I said
originally so I upgraded to wily, but I haven't had much time to try
it..

I am sorry for long response time, I was without access to PC for some
days.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1462994] Re: 2:1.17.1-0ubuntu4 broke xmir ABI

2015-08-05 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Adding the Ubuntu-RTM tasks to the bug. Normally we do not recommend
using the overlay PPA for desktop uses as it's generally the 'stable
phone overlay' - so in theory it's only for phone usage. But I suppose
there are certain uses of the overlay for things like the desktop next
and similar. Anyway, probably not top priority tasks.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1342675] Re: Random characters in screen text suddenly disappear

2015-08-05 Thread Vlad Omir
I am running Lubuntu 14.04.2 and it ran fine until the last
xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-utopic update.
My installed version was 2:2.99.914-1-exp1ubuntu4.3-trusty1
The update was for version 2:2.99.914-1-exp1ubuntu4.5-trusty1

I get text randomly missing from icons on the desktop and the only cure
(albeit temporary) is to logout and log back in.

How can I revert back to the previous driver?

Thanks

Nick

2015-08-05 Thread Martin -
I get the same java crash bug with open OpenJDK Java 7 Runtime. So it's
less likely that it's a java bug.

java version:
java version 1.7.0_79
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.5.6) (7u79-2.5.6-0ubuntu1.14.04.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.79-b02, mixed mode)

relevant Minecraft game output:
Failed to open BO for returned DRI2 buffer (1855x1056, dri2 back buffer, named
79).
This is likely a bug in the X Server that will lead to a crash soon.

2015-08-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

[needs-packaging] mesa
Please include gallium_drv_video.so which is a native va-api state tracker
for mesa(gallium).

URL: http://mesa3d.sourceforge.net/
URL: http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/vaapi/ #intel/vdpau
License: http://www.mesa3d.org/license.html

Notes:
Currently (as of today) in ubuntu 15.10 nightly amd64, va-api(vaapi) on AMD/Ati
radeon opensource display hardware is using a vdpau backend 0.7.4 by
Splitted-Desktop Systems (wrapper) on gallium r600. Although its possible and
probably preferred (better performance less copying) to use a native
implementation which mesa(gallium) 10.4 and higher delivers in a form of a
va-api state tracker.

vainfo #current default setup vdpau backend
libva info: VA-API version 0.38.0
libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/r600_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_0_37
libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0
vainfo: VA-API version: 0.38 (libva 1.6.0)
vainfo: Driver version: Splitted-Desktop Systems VDPAU backend for VA-API -
0.7.4
vainfo: Supported profile and entrypoints
  VAProfileMPEG2Simple: VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileMPEG2Main : VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileMPEG4Simple: VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileMPEG4AdvancedSimple: VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileH264Baseline : VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileH264Main : VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileVC1Advanced: VAEntrypointVLD

The preferred setup needs that gallium_drv_video.so binary which is
currently unavailable in ubuntu and debian. As an example I added a
package/binary from archlinux. Copying the gallium_drv_video.so to
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/ and symlinking(correcting) the
libLLVM-3.6.so to arch-linux default /usr/lib/ location and exporting a
variable was enough to make it work!
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/libva-mesa-driver/
#example by archlinux

export LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=gallium
vainfo #preferred setup using gallium va-api from arch-linux (symlinked
libLLVM-3.6.so to /usr/lib)
libva info: VA-API version 0.38.0
libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva info: User requested driver 'gallium'
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/gallium_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_0_38
libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0
vainfo: VA-API version: 0.38 (libva 1.6.0)
vainfo: Driver version: mesa gallium vaapi
vainfo: Supported profile and entrypoints
  VAProfileMPEG2Simple: VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileMPEG2Main : VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileMPEG4Simple: VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileMPEG4AdvancedSimple: VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileVC1Advanced: VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileH264Baseline : VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileH264Main : VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointVLD

I guess this binary gallium_drv_video.so might be available as a
compile flag in the current mesa implementation... intel and vdpau has
their own current implementation in a separate libva branch
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/vaapi/libva/ ?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1480590] Re: Minecraft + Oracle Java always crashes with SIGSEGV (ubuntu 14.04, java 7.0_80-b15, minecraft 1.7.10)

2015-08-05 Thread Martin -
I found a way to avoid the crash bug:

Do not maximize the Minecraft window. It is still possible to manually
resize the window so that it's larger than the starting window size.

** Description changed:

I tried playing Minecraft (a game) but it always crashes after a few minutes
(5-20 minutes) with the same kind of crash.
Minecraft worked previously on this computer, a few months ago.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Start Minecraft.
  2. Press single player.
  3. Create a new world or load an old world.
  4. Press escape to view menu.
  5. Maximize the window that Minecraft is running in.
  6. Wait for 5-20 minutes until crash (always crashes).
+
+ Workaround:
+ Do not maximize the Minecraft window. Manual resizing works without crashing.

  relevant Minecraft game output:
Failed to open BO for returned DRI2 buffer (1855x1056, dri2 back buffer,
named 93).
This is likely a bug in the X Server that will lead to a crash soon.

backtrace of the crash

Hello there,

I hope you can help me.

I have the same crash backtrace again and again but from different
reasons. Sometimes its emacs, than its libreoffice, but it can also be
chromium browser or firefox. Mostly - I'm not sure its when i resize
the windows - but that is just a guess, because it does not happen
systematically from my point of view. (its the same with awesome
windowmanager or enlightenment)

It just coredumps

I will add the core dump and also the X log file and the .xsession-error
(which differs a bit)

Which window manager(s) does it happen with for you?

Do you guys use any special window manager configuration, e.g. non-
opaque window resizes?

I use awesome windowmanager, and will add my rc.lua for you. I don't
think there are special configurations.

Here is my xorg config:

for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/?* ; do

[[ -f ~/.Xresources ]] xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources

That error looks like one of the cryptic messages you'll get if you
haven't installed drivers for Mir yet. They're not automatically
installed unless you have a phone image, or have installed the full
desktop-next stack. Reasons

Try this:
   sudo apt-get install mir-graphics-drivers-desktop
or
   sudo apt-get install mir-graphics-drivers-android
