I have now installed latest wily from daily builds which still has the same problem. I hit this bug today on vivid overlay PPA. My laptop was not booting anymore. I was adviced to reinstall the older xserver-xorg-core (1.17.1-0ubuntu3) and that fixed it. I'm not sure if Xmir crashes. I ran xprop w/ gdb and it just seems Xmir exits when the client closes the display. My installed version was 2:2.99.914-1-exp1ubuntu4.3-trusty1 The update was for version 2:2.99.914-1-exp1ubuntu4.5-trusty1 I get text randomly missing from icons on the desktop and the only cure (albeit temporary) is to logout and log back in. How can I revert back to the previous driver? This was with version 2:1.17.2-1ubuntu3.
