[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-12-16 Thread Alroger Filho
What a fun discussion.

Just a reminder... '+c has always been ç since MS-DOS, in US
International Keyboard... MS-DOS, PC-DOS, Basic, Apple, old computers,
Wordstar, Lotus123, Windows, OS/2, Unix in general... somewhere around
Ubuntu 7, or Fedora 5 it started coming as an accented ć, was fixed in
Ubuntu 8.04, and accented again after that.

Very frustrating. Gotta learn a new "patch" every new version of
Ubuntu.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1523197] Re: Segfault at address 0x0

2015-12-16 Thread Tyduptyler13
I have tested using an xorg built from scratch and still had the same
issues.

I have however half fixed the issue by building and using the amd-15.31
branch from http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~agd5f/xf86-video-amdgpu/

The display now works but my dual monitor support is wonky. Only one
monitor is receiving its signal. Not your problem though. Hopefully
looking at that branch will help you out.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1525451] Re: Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 daily wont boot in virtualbox

2015-12-16 Thread Tim
It is not specifically a vbox bug, it appears it would affect any system
that uses a UMS kernel driver and VESA. In that case you need xserver-
xorg-legacy, but if you put that on the images, you turn off rootless
Xorg for everyone.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1523197] Re: Segfault at address 0x0

2015-12-16 Thread Tyduptyler13
Well unfortunately I was quick to assume. The custom video-amdgpu isn't
getting used even though I expected it to be. Instead it seems my
fiddling with mesa and drm and a reboot fixed it.

I am currently using the latest stable mesa (11.1.0)
and the latest code in the drm repo (d6ffb997263402eebdcb029e061ae0221925f643)

Some of the parts from building xorg are also still sitting around but
there are too many to really keep track of. The x server seems to be
using some of these libraries as well which any number of them could
have fixed the issue.

I am going to close this issue as I expect the bug is too hard to repeat
and a simple fresh install would probably clear things up.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1448937] Re: LibreOffice has serious kerning issues with characters' display of font, bold, italic

2015-12-16 Thread stijn
Unfortunately, that's exactly the issue: the display / kerning problems
are not connected to a specific document. It can happen to any LO-
document, but it does not always happen. So I can not do an apple-apple
test in that way.

That's the annoying part of the whole thing: it happens often enough to
make it annoying, but not in a reproducible enough way to test /solve
it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1523197] Re: Segfault at address 0x0

2015-12-16 Thread Tyduptyler13
I tried just building the glamor module and installed it so it would
overwrite the existing module. I recently built all of xorg but never
got around to actually using it. I will try that next. Currently I am
testing drm-next kernel. I will get back to you when I get xorg running.

Yeah, so testing with values that are somewhat rounded nicely would be
the next step.
