[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1455916] Re: [Dell Inspiron N5110] Xorg unexpectedly crashed
Christopher M. Penalver, what I wanted to point out in my last comment is that since I reported this bug I changed to gnome-shell and even updated to 15.10 so I will not be able to help further debugging this issue and of course as this is about metacity and I don't use it any more I have not seen this bug since then. Of course all new/other xorg related errors have been reported by me in separate new bug tickets as expected. Would you like me to change the subject of the bug to: "The program 'metacity' received an X Window System error." -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1455916 Title: [Dell Inspiron N5110] Xorg unexpectedly crashed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1455916/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Izz Noland, thank you for taking the time to report this and trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, Linux Mint is not a software package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks! If you are interested in learning more about software repositories and Ubuntu, check https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1528032] Re: Xorg freeze
leex, as per http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product- page.aspx?pid=4714#bios an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (F7). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status New. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1528334] Re: No contact to WLAN no Sound here
Berger Gerhard, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. At your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1525473] Re: computer generated
Douglas Lutz, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, this report didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1532224] [NEW] Plugging in Logitech H340 USB headset breaks mouse
Public bug reported: When a Logitech H340 USB headset is plugged in the mouse stops behaving correctly. The primary button appears to be down all the time. Programs fail to respond to clicks from the mouse (so the window-focus cannot be changed). The tracking of X-Y coordinates seems to be fine. (The information reported by "ubuntu-bug xorg" was collected with the headset plugged in.) I tested this behaviour with Firefox, GNOME Terminal, and Nautilus as the primary window. In the case of Nautilus the icon under the mouse cursor is selected, and moves with the mouse cursor. In the case of the other two programs text is selected when the mouse moves. I see the same behaviour when the mouse (a Logitec also) is unplugged and the inbuilt trackpad is used to move the mouse cursor. For completeness I unplugged the mouse and keyboard, so the headset was the only device connected to the external USB ports and I saw the same behaviour, with the primary button appearing to be down. This began without any updates to the system. I have been using the headset for over a year without issue. I was in the volume menu trying to change from the built-in mic on a Lenovo T530 laptop to the mic on the headset when the system crashed. Upon next boot, this behavior has occurred every time I plug in the headset. Created attachment 120818 syslog after three patches and returned flicker Hi Mika. I seem to have regressed, and the flicker has returned. I took a new branch of intel-drm-nightly, and applied the three patches in the sequence you provided, but the flickering has returned and is consistent on every boot. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1522922]
Created attachment 120893 DP debugging Tom, I would bother you again to provide some debugging info. From the dmesg you sent it seems that you are experiencing a lot of hpd interrupts. When that happens the driver checks if the DP channel equalization is still ok. On your case, channel equalization is not ok yielding DP link to be retrained. Of course, this causes flickering as the DP link is broken for some time. The patch I'm proposing for debugging purposes applies on top of the latest -nightly and on top of these previous patches https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/69394/ https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/69395/ https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/69396/ The patch adds more verbose debug information on channel equalization and limits the DP link retraining to 5. After 5 attempts to retrain the link you probably end up having a non-flickering display or a black screen. Please, report back with dmesg. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libdrm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1522922 Title: Screen flickering in Intel i915 driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nouveau/+bug/1522922/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

The watermark patch did not affect the symptoms of this problem, Rodrigo. Thank you Tom for the syslog. From the log the DP link training is completed but for some reason the DP channel equalization fails. At this point we request to do link training once again and now first we try first the drive current and pre-emphasis levels from the previous link training. Instead of reusing these values, we should restart the link training with zero drive current and pre-emphasis levels. This is fixed at the 3rd patch of this series.
