Thanks for testing Sven! Can you try the following in Blender: - Add a multiresolution modifier (with at least 7 subdivides) to the default cube to get a lot more vertices. - In object mode, select/deselect via viewport clicking several times. This crashes here *verry* often. Thanks, Lars ps. In Blender preferences>system i use the triple buffer window draw method. With the other settings the gui slows down a lot. Next time I attempted to log into Cinnamon Desktop, it was unable to start and all 3d dependent programs were non-functional. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1235818] [NEW] Xorg segmentation faults when using Synapse
You have been subscribed to a public bug: ## Description For the past few months I have been experiencing a sporadic but very dangerous and critical issue. For some unknown reason my Xorg server will sometimes crash when attempting to open the drop-down list in Synapse. This usually happens after the system has been up for a while. Downgrading Synapse to the build in the Ubuntu repos didn't help. Neither did upgrading the kernel and graphics stack to the latest hardware enablement stacks (I tried both Quantal and Raring. I am currently on the latter.) Do you think this is a fault on Synapse's part or will I have to report this with X.org? In any case I sincerely hope there is some way to fix this and I'd appreciate any help. ## Additional information: Synapse $ uname -a Linux UBN 3.8.0-31-generic #46~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 11 18:21:16 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS Release:12.04 $ policy synapse synapse: Installed: 0.2.8.2-1ubuntu1.1 Candidate: 0.2.8.2-1ubuntu1.1 $ policy xserver-xorg-lts-raring xserver-xorg-lts-raring: Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4~precise1 Candidate: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4~precise1 $ policy fglrx fglrx: Installed: 2:12.100-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 2:12.100-0ubuntu1 $ fglrxinfo display: :0 screen: 0 OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Micha, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1545834] Re: Session exits when removing external monitor
I've attached my Xorg.0.log after the session exited and I saw the new login screen (switched to console CTRL-ALT-F1, and copied the /var/log/Xorg.0.log* to a safe location). Imho, this is the log of the new Xorg instance. I suspect that as there is a file Xorg.0.log.old with the same timestamp as the new one. Unfortunately there is no backtrace, it detects that the monitor is removed: [ 33982.721] (II) intel(0): resizing framebuffer to 1366x768 [ 33982.724] (II) intel(0): switch to mode 1366x768@60.1 on LVDS1 using pipe 0, position (0, 0), r otation normal, reflection none [ 33983.053] (II) config/udev: removing device Atmel Atmel maXTouch Digitizer [ 33983.074] (II) evdev: Atmel Atmel maXTouch Digitizer: Close [ 33983.075] (II) UnloadModule: "evdev" [ 33983.696] (II) config/udev: Adding input device Atmel Atmel maXTouch Digitizer (/dev/input/even t10) Whats worse it seems that the server terminated successfully: $ tail -10 Xorg.0.log.old [ 33987.674] (II) UnloadModule: "evdev" [ 33987.674] (II) evdev: ASUS USB2.0 Webcam: Close [ 33987.674] (II) UnloadModule: "evdev" [ 33987.674] (II) evdev: Sleep Button: Close [ 33987.674] (II) UnloadModule: "evdev" [ 33987.674] (II) evdev: Power Button: Close [ 33987.674] (II) UnloadModule: "evdev" [ 33987.674] (II) evdev: Video Bus: Close [ 33987.674] (II) UnloadModule: "evdev" [ 33987.714] (EE) Server terminated successfully (0).
