[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1554004] Re: Segfault on X startup with VX900
Hello Dariusz, or anyone else affected, Accepted xserver-xorg-video-openchrome into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /xserver-xorg-video-openchrome/1:0.3.3-1ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance! ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome (Ubuntu Wily) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-openchrome in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554004 Title: Segfault on X startup with VX900 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/openchrome/+bug/1554004/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1559597] Re: [HP Pavilion dv3-1075us Laptop] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend in Xubuntu 14.04.04
You want me to upgrade from 14.04.04 to 16.04? That I cannot do at the moment because I am in the middle of a development project that needs a stable Intel/AMD workstation which has lsb packages. Using the lsb API was not my idea (long story) and I warned my partner that lsb would be gone in Ubuntu in 16.04. I could 16.04 in about 4 weeks when my project is live/stable and I have time to assemble another desktop from a Biostar/AMD motherboard. Sorry if that's inconvenient. I don't think that the HP laptop hardware is a factor. This is probably an anomaly on any laptop hardware in 14.04.04 (E.g. the Thinkpad bug report). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1559597 Title: [HP Pavilion dv3-1075us Laptop] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend in Xubuntu 14.04.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1559597/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1559304] [NEW] nvidia 361 drivers cause unresponsive machine
Public bug reported: Running Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 Beta1. Installing the proprietary drivers (either the tested or the updates) one results in: the splash screen goes away, revealing all the console output (with mostly green OKs) and the console log-in. This whole thing then flashes on and off and the system seems a little too upset to receive keyboard input. There is no mouse. The only way out is a hard reset, or if networking got started you can sometimes SSH in and issue a shutdown that way. The Nvidia driver is 361.28-0ubuntu1 It's a Dell xps-15 9550 with the UHD 4k screen. *-display description: 3D controller product: GM107M [GeForce GTX 960M] vendor: NVIDIA Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@:01:00.0 version: a2 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=nouveau latency=0 resources: irq:127 memory:dc00-dcff memory:b000-bfff memory:c000-c1ff ioport:e000(size=128) memory:dd00-dd07 *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: Intel Corporation vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@:00:02.0 version: 06 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pciexpress msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915_bpo latency=0 resources: irq:126 memory:db00-dbff memory:7000-7fff ioport:f000(size=64) To restore the system I have to boot to root console from the grub menu and then remove the nvidia stuff. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1297144] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend
Hopefully, xorg or xfce4 folks won't complain about a "duplicate report" [(-:]. I did file a separate report referencing my laptop hardware against xorg. Time will tell if it is xorg or xfce. I am tempted to try to reproduce this anomaly with a completely different 14.04.04 desktop (E.g. KDE) on the same hardware and see if the same symptoms occur. If so, then you are probably correct to suspect xorg (2 desktops, same xorg); else, it is probably an xfce issue. The practical problem with doing this is that the setup takes a lot of time and there could be other reasons why the issue is not reproducible under KDE. ~~ In case anyone reading this report might benefit, this is a fast manual work-around that works for my with an HP laptop: 1. Resume from a long-term suspend. Note the disappeared mouse cursor. 2. Ctrl-Alt-F1 ===> getty 3. Ctrl-Alt-F7 ===> back to desktop The mouse cursor is, hopefully, restored after step 3. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297144 Title: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1297144/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1559073] [NEW] touchpad input becomes erratic - reboot required
Public bug reported: This is an intermittent issue that I have been experiencing with Ubuntu 15.10 (Unity) and an HP Envy x360 hybrid notebook. Touchpad inputs suddenly begin to cause erratic outcomes. Making any input with the touchpad often causes the cursor to appear near the top right of the screen or in another unpredictable location. There are phantom left and right clicks recorded without the user inputting them. While trying to move the cursor to any particular place or to make some other action, the cursor "dances" around the area or appears at an extreme of the screen. Touchscreen inputs and external mouse inputs continue to function normally. As long as the user is not interacting with the touchpad at all, then everything appears normal. Only a full reboot appears sufficient to correct the error. I have not been able to test hibernate/resume as a workaround, as hibernate is not currently working on this machine. Logout/login and suspend-resume to not appear to correct the problem. This bug does not appear reliably after any particular action or period of time. I have occasionally noticed it after a resume from suspend, but it has also been present on boot or just in the middle of normal operation. The logs posted with this bug were collected after an appearance in the middle of normal use. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1559597] [NEW] [HP Pavilion dv3-1075us Laptop] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend in Xubuntu 14.04.04
Public bug reported: When I suspend for a long period of time (E.g. overnight), the mouse is still functional upon resume but the cursor has disappeared. Resuming after suspending for only a short period of time (E.g. 10 seconds) does not yield this symptom. The disappearing mouse cursor symptom appears whether or not light-locker is enabled. Work-around that succeeds: Logout followed by login gets the mouse cursor back to normal. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1297144] [NEW] [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I am using the daily build of Xubuntu 14.04 x64 on a Lenovo Thinkpad x230. If I wake up the computer after it spending some time in the suspend state, the cursor will be invisible. The courser still works (I can click on stuff and hover the invisible cursor over stuff), but the little arrow is not visible. This bug showed up a few days ago after an update. Putting the computer back in suspend state and immediately waking it back up resolves the issue until the next time the computer is put in suspend state for an extended period of time. It is possible that this bug has something to do with Whisker Menu. Sometimes when the courser is invisible it will still show up over Whisker Menu. Most of the time it is invisible there too. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1297144] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend
I also have trouble getting the kernel module for my Realtek Ethernet (r8169) to function after resuming from suspend which I have noted in another bug report (#1556676). My Ethernet work-around (/etc/pm/sleep.d/pm-helper.sh, attached) does the trick because the resume-recovery issue is in the module r8168. I tried to add psmouse to my pm-helper.sh script but it didn't work. Fortunately, logout followed by login got the mouse cursor back to normal. >From this experience, I assume that the bug is in xfce4 somewhere, probably xfce4-power-manager. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297144 Title: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-power-manager/+bug/1297144/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled
Reproducible on HP Pavilion SE a6655f, AMD x64, with Asus brand Geforce GT-220 (ENGT220) video card, only connected output is HDMI to surround receiver, then HDMI to Panasonic LED TV. Unused workaround from comment #22 (disable xfsettingfsd) and has been solid since. I switched inputs on the TV away from the surround to a digital cable box, watched a little TV, then back without issue. I turned off TV and surround, turned back on, and I can still see the output from the HP. Mythbuntu 14.0.4 LTS (fresh install of 14.04.4 actually). A side-effect was that sometimes the mouse pointer would also disappear if I switched away and back again. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1540953] Re: Xorg crashed when undocking Lenovo T450s from docking station
@Francis: This is another bug and you should open another bug report for that one. That being said, I think I haven't seen that one using the Wily kernel (yet). But I have seen one, that is probably the same bug, using newer kernels (4.4/4.5). I have reported the bug against the 4.5.0 kernel on freedesktop.org. In my case the 4.5.0 kernel also crashed in drm_dp_payload_send_msg, but got there via the intel_mst_post_disable_dp call, instead of intel_mst_enable_dp call like in your case, but I think both crashes probably have the same root cause. I have reported it here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94534 One of the developers, Chris Wilson, raised the bug priority to highest/blocker, so I hope this will get fixed soon, but there are no patches to test yet. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #94534 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94534 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1540953 Title: Xorg crashed when undocking Lenovo T450s from docking station To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1540953/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1522922]
Created attachment 122406 dmesg-after-flicker Here are the two dmesg dumps, same kernel, same patches, but with the options you mentioned. They are different this time. One thing I also noticed is that there is not only flicker, but sometimes old screen content is used for a moment. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1559308] [NEW] Plugging HDMI screen in causes system hang
Public bug reported: I have a 4K UHD laptop screen and am running Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 Beta1 using 4.4.0-13-generic and the Nouveau drivers. If I plug in an external HDMI monitor (FHD) either into either HDMI port (there's one on the machine and there's one available via a usb 3.1 extra adaptor) then the whole system hangs, completely unresponsive and needing a hard reboot. Before hanging the 2nd display gets an image as expected, but the laptop's screen flashes randomly, sometimes you see weird artifacts. Then the hang comes. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1540953] Re: Xorg crashed when undocking Lenovo T450s from docking station
@Francis: As far I can tell this is not fixed in 16.04 yet. But you could try the xserver-xorg-video-intel package from the oibaf PPA, which follows the upstream git repo closely (i.e. nightly git snapshots), and should contain the relevant patches/commits. You probably don't want all the other packages from the PPA, only the xserver-xorg-video-intel package, at least if you don't want to test the other things the PPA aims to provide, and want to keep the packages on your system as close to the official 16.04 versions as possible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1540953 Title: Xorg crashed when undocking Lenovo T450s from docking station To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1540953/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1297144] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend
In Xubuntu 14.04.04 on an [HP Pavilion dv3-1075us] laptop, I am seeing this symptom. That is, when I suspend for a long period of time (E.g. overnight), the mouse is functional but the cursor has disappeared. Resuming after suspending only a short period of time (E.g. 10 seconds) does not yield this symptom. The symptom appears whether or not light- locker is enabled. Personally, I don't use light-locker as I have found the overlap between light-locker and the xfce4-power-manager to cause weird issues in the past - not to mention the fact that it is confusing to have 2 power managers! ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297144 Title: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1297144/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
