[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1637032] Re: The screen keeps flashing (even in text terminal mode)
Looked at the Additional Drivers on Software & Updates and noticed that the driver for the Intel CPU was not enabled (Do Not Use was selected) Given that right now I don't have much to loose, I enabled the additional driver. I now get a black screen with the latest Kernel, but no more flashing in Terminal Mode The 4.4.0 Kernel still works (see screenshot) ** Attachment added: "Screenshot ofAdditional Drivers" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1637032/+attachment/4775755/+files/Screenshot%20from%202016-11-11%2018-17-48.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1637032 Title: The screen keeps flashing (even in text terminal mode) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1637032/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1641017] [NEW] Mesa 12.0.4 - multiple important fixes, stable branch
Public bug reported: Mesa 12.0.4 is now available as a point release in the stable branch. The release contains multiple fixes amongst which: The nouveau vdpau driver performance has been restored. The wayland-egl module no longer crashes if the user calls eglDestroySurface and wl_egl_window_destroy in the "wrong" order. libEGL correctly advertises the EGL platforms available. Multiple fd leaks were addressed, which could prevent rmmod of devices such as the DisplayLink drivers. Radeonsi has gained noticeable performance by disabling ReZ. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1639640] Re: black screen at boot until pressing power-off button?
I booted with drm.debug=14 and looked at the output of dmesg. It had lines like [0.717202] [drm:i915_dump_device_info] i915 device info: gen=7, pciid=0x0412 rev=0x06 flags=need_gfx_hws,is_haswell,has_fbc,has_hotplug,has_llc,has_ddi,has_fpga_dbg, ... On a whim, I replaced the DVI video cable with a VGA one... and the problem went away! Hi, Have a similar issue here, I can no longer use my Blender, FreeCAD and OpenSCAD. I do not get the black screen but Blender and FreeCAD crash and OpenSCAD will not display the model. Running Lubuntu 16.04 with the Nvidia Driver 304.132 Perhaps something about my configuration will be helpful with the troubleshooting. Have a second Lubuntu 16.04 computer that is not using the Nvidia Driver and Blender runs fine on it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1639051 Title: gnome3 has black screen after upgrade: 304.131-0ubuntu0.14.04.2, 304.132-0ubuntu0.14.04.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1639051/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1640781] [NEW] Constant surplus display device detection and switching
Public bug reported: Using a Thinpad T420s, after upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04, I sometimes encounter a heavy problem: The internal screen is frequently blanking and comes up with other resolutions. This mostly triggers after resuming from standby. Using xrandr, I figured out that there are too many display devices listed, and one of them, named VGA2, is intermittently thought to be connected, so it is automatically acitvated and the screen layout adapts, also changing the internal screen resolution (a clone view setup I guess). In reality, there are no devices, cables or adapters attached to any display output (there is only one VGA and one DisplayPort output). If bug kicks in, the computer is almost unusable, permanently switching the screen layout every few seconds. The bug cannot be undone by restarting Xorg and also holds after rebooting the machine. It can be fixed by power cycling the machine. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "xrandr output" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1640781/+attachment/4775299/+files/xrandr.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1640781 Title: Constant surplus display device detection and switching To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1640781/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247668] Re: NumLock turned off on layout switch
My old laptop (a Samsung NP300E5Z, originally with Precise and upgraded all the way up to Yakkety) died a few days ago. I cannot tell for 100% but I'm like 99% sure that this bug still existed there in Yakkety, otherwise I pretty sure would have noticed being releived by the pain being gone while using Yakkety for about 1.5 months (since around its final beta freeze). My new laptop (a Dell Inspiron 5559 210771, with a brand new Yakkety installation, same plain pretty much default Unity7, same two keyboard layouts and same Alt+Shift toggle configured) does not suffer from this bug. I enable NumLock, it looks like it stays enabled all the time. In the mean time, changing the layout still switches off Caps Lock, including its feedback LED. Luckily I don't care about this too much. At this point I have no clue whether: - it was some system-wide leftover from the upgrade processes, - it was some leftover in my home directory (I did not [yet] bring over my settings), - or the behavior is somehow hardware related. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247668 Title: NumLock turned off on layout switch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/1247668/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
