Thanks a lot for your reply. Now I have to find out what "render offload target" means. I have tried "DRI_PRIME=1 glxgears" which I think is a good test for card performance and it reports 1700 FPS instead of the 60 FPS reported without the DRI_PRIME=1 so I assume that the dedicated card is indeed used. I will try with a couple of games and maybe with compiz (is the procedure useful for the whole desktop??). Nevertheless, it does not seem a very user-friendly way to make the dedicated card active and probably out of the reach of many users, which renders this card virtually non-existent for non experienced users or for those without the spirit of spending many hours googling to find it out. At least, I hope that, even if closed for invalid, my report and your answer may help other people facing the same problem and that may land in this dialogue by searching the internet. I am using the newly released 4.9, but the same "feature"was present in the previous rcX versions: uname -a Linux nbbag7 4.9.0-040900-generic #201612111631 SMP Sun Dec 11 21:33:00 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux BTW,I am noticing now that tapping with a single finger on the lower- right part of the trackpad is equivalent of a right-click. So it seems that there are some default gestures on the upper/lower-right part that are not understood by the current driver and are enabled by default. @pmonas yes, I think the singe tap is sometime interpreted as a middle-click. I can guarantee that I click with a single finger, though ... Hi, I am using since a few weeks the kernel 4.9 with my dell e7370 abd the touchpad is recognized. I have however an annoying problem which happens quite often. With the "tap to click" option enabled, when I tap the touchpad sometime the behavior is quite unreliable. I was afflicted by a version of this problem after updating 12.04 LTS Precise via the Update Manager on 20/11/2016. The principal problem is that the icons on the desktop launchpad became invisible, though hovering over where I suspected that they were with the mouse did result in a small text banner identifying the application being displayed. Some colours might not be right also, but the problems are minor compared with what some people have reported. I attempted to downgrade manually using advice given here but to no avail, possibly because I wasn't sure what version of nvidia-304 I'd been on previously, though I think it was .131. After quite a lot of fiddling I gave up and reverted to the unsatisfactory 304.132, hoping that a fix, possibly consisting of a downgrade, would be forthcoming soon. I've only just subscribed to e-mails about this bug so apologies if this question has already been answered but is a fix going to be released, and if so roughly when? My Ubuntu instance is a secondary machine but I do use it and like it be working, which it was doing well until the update. If it helps my GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache and requires a 304.xx driver, and my CPU is AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+. Yur amdgpu is a render offload target, and does not have outputs as you said. In order to use it for offloading, you need to run an app with 'DRI_PRIME=1 app'. In my GL using app I had to add the bind mount /var/lib/snapd/lib/gl to LD_LIBRARY_PATH for it to work with the nVidia proprietary driver.
