[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1655828] Re: Mouse flickers and disappears on primary monitor when additional monitor is connected
That's really all I could make out from it, sorry. I'm attaching a picture in case you can see something I can't. The receipt was not very helpful, it just says something generic like "Dell Adapter USB 3.0." I did find the Dell part number: 470-ABHH Here's a link to the current listing on their website: http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-adapter-usb-3-0-to-hdmi-vga- ethernet-usb-2-0/apd/470-abhh/handhelds-tablet-pcs They give this code for the Manufacturer part: H5G60 But that's as far as I could make it. I'll try the current version of Ubuntu tomorrow, as promised. ** Attachment added: "DisplayLink adapter picture" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1655828/+attachment/4805594/+files/IMG_20170117_225237.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1655828 Title: Mouse flickers and disappears on primary monitor when additional monitor is connected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1655828/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1657296] [NEW] Need two commits cherry-picked from Mesa main into 16.04
Public bug reported: Hi, On Ubuntu 16.04, VMWare customers are running into a couple of issues: 1. Any app that uses glGenMipmap command will not work properly or crash (https://communities.vmware.com/thread/537924) 2. vmwgfx_dri.so is sending provoking vertex command when it is not supposed to. I have contacted the Mesa maintainer, but unfortunately 11.2.x is no longer being actively supported, and so I couldn't get the fixes cherry- picked over. Is there an internal process in Canonical to cherry-pick fixes over? To fix the two defects above, please cherry pick the following two commits from Mesa main: 7988513ac3d86ba367fbe44e73fe483ff96aaa29 ca531aeeb120cdd --- 1) Description: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Release: 16.04 2) libgl1-mesa-dri: Installed: 11.2.0-1ubuntu2.2 Candidate: 11.2.0-1ubuntu2.2 Version table: *** 11.2.0-1ubuntu2.2 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 11.2.0-1ubuntu2 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 3) Google Earth will run into the glGenMipmap issue, i.e. dmesg will show "Unsupported command" I'm not sure if the 2nd issue is observable without a debug build of VMWare software... 4) Through internal testing, the two commits above should the issues mentioned. ** Affects: mesa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1657296 Title: Need two commits cherry-picked from Mesa main into 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1657296/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1656155] Re: System (keyboard & touchpad) freezes
More info (sort of): After booting today, I used SSH from another machine (successfully logging in). Unfortunately, when the laptop froze, so did my ssh session. The terminal was not "disconnected by host", but it was inert. The laptop has quieted, but not completely silent. Something is whirring in there, but nothing I've tried can get any response from it (except holding down the power key until it powers off). I can't get anything from Acer; they deliver the machine with Win-10, so that's what they support. Should I write to Intel? As for the "Unknown stepping info" error, because I don't know whether it's related, I'm going to open a help request at Ask Ubuntu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libdrm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1656155 Title: System (keyboard & touchpad) freezes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/+bug/1656155/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1531224] Re: lightdm-gtk-greeter flickers once little after lightdm starts
That tread was very helpful. But you mixed things up. I also experience the same problem with flickering background in greeter. But, my story starts differently. When I first time installed Xubuntu 16.04 and set up desktop background, greeter was showing it without any problem. Then, I created xorg.conf.d, and specify "Monitor" "Device" "Screen", and after this my greeter background starts to blink. But it is not just blink. SNA somehow remembers desktop background and draws it again, but LightDM greeter redraws it and this process looks like flicker. If you specify in greeter: user-background=false, with SNA you will see background and then greeter will clear it. So the solution is to add option: user-background="do nothing" Also I found out that with SNA I can't wakeup my monitor, because xrandr loses "current" mode To wake it up I need to connect via ssh and manually set monitor mode: xrandr -d :0 --output HDMI2 --mode 0x47 After this mouse movements wake up my monitor. SNA is crappy. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1531224 Title: lightdm-gtk-greeter flickers once little after lightdm starts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm-gtk-greeter/+bug/1531224/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1632165] Re: modesetting driver unbearably slow on intel graphics
When I raised this back in August, I could not resolve the performance either with Ubuntu drivers or Intel. It just seemed upping the kernel from 4.6 upwards stopped the performance. You don't have to upgrade to 16.10 to see the issue. Any way tried to upgrade 4 weeks ago incase the issue had resolved it's self with kernel 4.9 and nope it's still there. Original bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-vaapi-driver/+bug/1612863 Currently back on kernel 4.6 everything is good again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1632165 Title: modesetting driver unbearably slow on intel graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1632165/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1632165] Re: modesetting driver unbearably slow on intel graphics
I ran into this issue as well, and switching from the modesetting driver back to the intel driver in xorg.conf has helped tremendously. I went from 15.10 through 16.04 (which was entirely broken for me, something involving compiz I think) to 16.10, which worked, but had terrible graphical performance. As for my hardware, I'm on an Acer Aspire v7, using an Intel Haswell i7-4500U with HD Graphics 4400 (there's also an nvidia GT750M, but I selected intel with prime-select, otherwise I get a login loop). Running with the modesetting drivers, I found compiz regularly had 5 processes going, each reporting as using 30% of a core, and any sort of animation was unbearably choppy. I even had lag on the lockscreen. I found that in the Xorg.0.log, it said: [ 8.690] (II) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI2 capable [ 8.690] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering [ 8.785] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_MESA_copy_sub_buffer [ 8.786] (II) AIGLX: Loaded and initialized swrast [ 8.786] (II) GLX: Initialized DRISWRAST GL provider for screen 0 while with only changing to the intel driver, I see: [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_MESA_copy_sub_buffer [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_ARB_create_context [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_ARB_create_context_profile [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_EXT_create_context_es{,2}_profile [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_INTEL_swap_event [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_SGI_swap_control and GLX_MESA_swap_control [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_EXT_framebuffer_sRGB [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_ARB_fbconfig_float [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_EXT_fbconfig_packed_float [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap backed by buffer objects [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_ARB_create_context_robustness [ 8.687] (II) AIGLX: Loaded and initialized i965 [ 8.687] (II) GLX: Initialized DRI2 GL provider for screen 0 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1632165 Title: modesetting driver unbearably slow on intel graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1632165/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
