[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1746740] Re: XPS13 L322X Bionic (daily dev) touchpad laggy

2018-04-06 Thread Bib
How do I do this ? I booted a live stick but libinput-tools isn't there
and there is no way to run tests the good old way when disk-creator
allowed to have a user partition or install software in the live
session. How can I run these tests please without breaking my Trusty ?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761858] [NEW] libx11-6-dbgsym should be insection "debug" insead of section "libs"

2018-04-06 Thread Laurent Bonnaud
Public bug reported:

Hi,

the problem is that deborphan lists this package as removable, whereas I
want to keep it:

$ deborphan
[...]
libx11-6-dbgsym:amd64

It comes from the fact that libx11-6-dbgsym is in section "libs":

$ dpkg -s libx11-6-dbgsym

Section: libs

whereas it should be in section "devel". All other *-dbgsym packages on

Silvio, I gave a try with latest daily Bionic which comes with
libinput10 1.10.3 and the result is exactly the way you describe. My
"laggy" word is not accurate.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761261] Re: nouveau/nvidia drivers do not work with display in Bionic on Asus GL703VD Laptop

2018-04-06 Thread Davide Villa
Same problem on my ASUS GL703VD.
I tried the 18.04 beta today starting a live session with the suggested boot
option (modprobe.blacklist=nouveau).
I can work using an external monitor connected to the HDMI interface. The
laptop display become black during the boot just after few seconds but I can
see the boot progress on the external monitor.

The system works fine with Ubuntu 17.10 with the old kernel
4.13.0-38-generic.

I tried the new kernel 4.16 with ubuntu 17.10 from the mainline
repository but the problem is the same: black laptop screen during boot,
external HDMI monitor working.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761834] [NEW] Right-click doesn't work

2018-04-06 Thread Eric Stith
Public bug reported:

I decided to try out the beta for 18.04 from 17.10. Upon upgrading, I
discovered that right-clicking no longer works on my trackpad, and
right-clicks are handled as left-clicks would be. Two-finger right
click does not work either. If I plug in a mouse with a physical right
button, right clicking does work.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat

2018-04-06 Thread Mehmet Soyturk
I'm sorry for flooding this thread, but I have more experience to share.

After another reboot in "clocksource=jiffies" mode, I saw that 1 OS
second passes in real 0.5 seconds. But the rest of the system was pretty
stable. Keyboard auto-repeat was twice as fast, but did not get
triggered inadvertently.

I did another reboot in "clocksource=jiffies" mode and opened the online clock
application. Initially the clock speed seemed normal. After 20-30 seconds it
became twice as fast.
Then from the console, I started an application with an infinite loop therein.
That made the clock seconds turn very very fast. Probably CPU speed has
influence here.

Good news is that when I changed the boot option to "clocksource=tsc", I
got stable results even after a few reboots. Seconds seem to pass as
fast as they should be.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat

2018-04-06 Thread Mehmet Soyturk
(Note: I intentionally don't fix repeated characters
cccassee by that issue in my message below)

I'm affected by ttthhhee sssame issue.

Initially I have installed Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS. While installing it, I
had to add the boot parameter "acpi=off" in grub settings (both for
the installer anddfor booting of the installed OS). Otherwise, I got
a freeze on boot.

aafter installation, I got this probleee. But next to issues
with repeated keys, I got temporary freezes in firefox. I see that
sometimes the caret is applicaatioons flickers too fast (and
that is when I get repeated characters). And other strange issues.

I opened a clock application in https://www.online-stopwatch.com/online-
clock/ and I saw that the speed offf the "seconds" needle is not
regular, and it sometimes moves backward bbb 10 to 15
seconds. There is really something wrong with system time.

Then I have upgraded to Ubuntu 17.10, but it was the same (but I got
additional issues because of the upgrade :( ).

And the solution was the one from comment #356 from this thread (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/124406/comments/356
), which adds a "clocksource=jiffies" boot option.

I'm not done yet. Now I have a hang on Ubuntu shutdown (
https://askubuntu.com/questions/764568/ubuntu-16-04-hangs-on-shutdown-
restart ), and the suggested solution there is ... forcing acpi in boot
options :(

I have no idea whether this issue is related my acpi issues.

Same issue with Nvidia 390 with Ubuntu Budgie 18.04 beta 2, with an

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1760975] Re: Random right click behaviour with synaptics touchpad

2018-04-06 Thread fossfreedom
hmmm - what if you install gnome-shell (sudo apt install ubuntu-
desktop). Given that budgie uses GNOME components we need to try to
narrow down where the issue is coming from.

I note you are using 32bit - does the issue also occur on the 64bit
Ubuntu ISO / 64bit Ubuntu Budgie ISO?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1737979] Re: Wayland freezes with matplotlib

2018-04-06 Thread Giuseppe Scelsi
In my machine matplotlib by default selects the "TkAgg" backend. I
worked around this freezing problem by selecting the "gtk3" backend
instead, as in 'ipython3 --pylab=gtk3'. I had to install
'python3-cairocffi' as requested by a warning at startup and now
everything seems to work well.
