[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1780169] Re: Orientation was disappeared when the machine has accelerometer in 18.04

2018-07-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I get the feeling this might be an intentional feature. To check, please
report the problem to the Gnome developers here:

  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/issues

and then tell us the ID of the issue you have reported.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1780077] Re: FIFO underrun error

2018-07-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1727356 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1727356

It sounds like you're referring to:

[ 22.774658] [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU
pipe B FIFO underrun
[ 23.870619] [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU

[ 27.720650] [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU

So this would be a kernel bug. However in my experience such kernel
errors are also not fatal and won't cause permanent graphics problems.

Looking at your CPU model however:
  Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8500
I can tell you are experiencing bug 1727356, which is not related to kernel
errors at all.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1780169] [NEW] Orientation was disappeared when the machine has accelerometer in 18.04

2018-07-04 Thread Betty Lin
Public bug reported:

When the machine has accelerometer, rotate the machine, the display
orientation can be changed in 18.04

If connect to an external monitor, can't change the orientation to
Portrait Right, Portrait Left ...etc. manually, because "Orientation"
was disappeared in Settings->Devices->Displays

This is not friendly to the user who need to change the orientation when
connect to an external monitor. (For example: need to review
documents/codes on external monitor with Portrait mode)

I'm going to say that patch is rejected. It will hurt more users than it
helps and this problem only occurs on rack server graphics chips (also
seen on Matrox ones too).

Please run 'lspci -k' and send us the output.

This just in, given that I currently use Linux 4.10.17-041017-generic
(x86_64), here is my situation as of now:

1. I was in Twitter.
2. I was trying to type my tweet
3. The up button temporarily does not work but other buttons do work
4. And when I press other keys and mouse, **the up button works again like it
refuses to get stuck**

And I just tested the up button here in my typing of this comment and
the cursor does go up.

I got the patch working in 4.9.6. But in 4.17.3 the backlight controls

Wierdly though, the "nvapeek" output is the same after suspend as before:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752053] Re: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display

2018-07-04 Thread Chris
I started to experience this problem for the first time on July 2nd,
2018 after upgrading to kernel 4.15.0-24-generic. It only happens on
machines with a Nvidia card. It does not matter if ANY Nvidia drivers
are installed or not. I downgraded to kernel 4.15.0-20, 0-22 and 0-23
but it didn't fix the issue. I confirmed this on 2 machines with Nvidia
cards.

adding deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-proposed
multiverse main universe restricted

to /etc/apt/sources.list

and running apt install libglvnd0 xserver-xorg-core libgl1-mesa-glx did
not help. At least not on Linux Lite v4.0.

It's takes about 3mins and 6 seconds to get to the desktop. Everything
works as normal after that.

So i ran some tests

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1780077] [NEW] FIFO underrun error

2018-07-04 Thread Esteban Benitez
Public bug reported:

Subunit 18.04 LTS
System will not boot.

I updated graphics drivers I think erroneously, then received the
underrun errors and created a swap partition by accident following a fix
for a similar error as was having trouble booting crypt. I commented
out the swap and turned off swap and have updated my drivers and purged
previous. I can access terminal, yet still cannot boot due to the
undercut. I think I need to create a .conf file for the graphics
drivers.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1737750] Re: nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 304.137-0ubuntu2 ADT test failure with linux 4.15.0-1.2 [error: implicit declaration of function ‘init_timer’]

2018-07-04 Thread Attila K
Downgrading the kernel is sufficient too, aka if you boot with kernel
version 4.13.0 through GRUB, and then remove everything related to
4.15.0, the driver will work fine.

There was a 340 issue with the 4.13 kernel update too back in January,
and it was fixed in a couple of days
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1741671), I'm hopeful here too, as this
affects a LTS release now...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1780039] [NEW] Upgrade libegl1 to 1.0.0+git20180308-3ubuntu1 present in Cosmic

2018-07-04 Thread Sandeep
Public bug reported:

Currently Bionic contains 1.0.0-2ubuntu2 version of libegl1.

There is a bug in libEGL.so.1 due to which a Khronos CTS failure happens
on ARM platform.

Cosmic has already upgraded to 1.0.0+git20180308-3ubuntu1 version of
libegl1 where this bug is fixed.

Details of fix in liglvnd-EGL code:
https://github.com/NVIDIA/libglvnd/issues/151
Failing Khronos CTS test: dEQP-EGL.functional.negative_api.make_current, which
runs in bot OpenGL and OpenGL-ES CTS runs.

Without above test passing, we can't submit logs to Khronos for the CTS
run.

Filing this bug to get libegl1 upgraded to cosmic's version in bionic repos.
We've verified locally on ARM platform, there are no issues present due to this
upgrade.

Thanks.
