[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813002] Re: Update vulkan loader in Bionic to v1.1.73

2019-01-29 Thread Sai Kiran Korwar
Thanks, I will test it and let you know.

BTW Is this a temporary measure due to the urgency? or do we not plan to
move to more recent versions for bionic?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813843] Re: [nouveau] Xorg crash

2019-01-29 Thread Haug Bürger
I'm not sure If I have exactly the same issue, booting:
Linux version 4.15.0-44-generic (buildd@lcy01-amd64-010) (gcc version 7.3.0
(Ubuntu 7.3.0-16ubuntu3)) #47-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 14 11:26:59 UTC 2019 (Ubuntu
4.15.0-44.47-generic 4.15.18)

I can login and after that black screen, num lock doesn't work any more. My fix
was to boot the old kernel:
Linux ZALANDO-27144 4.15.0-43-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 6 14:45:28 UTC
2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

For me 4.15.0-44-generic is broken!

Please don't run "ubuntu-bug" by itself. You need to give it a parameter
that is the name of some other crash file.

If you can't find any other crash files then please go to step 2 in

Ok, I consistently checked the kernels from version 10.18.20 to 10.18.10. There
is no bug at 10.18.10. If you need it later, I can check on versions from
10.18.9 to 10.18.1.
What need to provide logs on the working core?

Please follow the steps in comment #4 carefully.

Are there any other files in /var/crash?

Is so then run:

  ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash

If not then go to step 2 in comment #4.

For any given directory/folder on that site, scroll down to:

  Build for amd64 succeeded

and then download/install that set of packages, except for the
"lowlatency" ones. You don't need "lowlatency".

2019-01-29 Thread Ivan Grigoryev
what packages do I need to install? for example for kernel version 4.18.16
linux-headers-4.18.16-041816-generic_4.18.16-041816.201810200431_amd64.deb
linux-headers-4.18.16-041816_4.18.16-041816.201810200431_all.deb
linux-image-unsigned-4.18.16-041816-generic_4.18.16-041816.201810200431_amd64.deb
?
or i can put all the kernels of the sub version immediately
sudo apt install linux-image-4.18.0* linux-headers-4.18.0*

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1812356] Re: AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint vertical pointer speed is very low

2019-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks.

Also, sorry but I failed to notice earlier that you're using 18.04 so
have an older version of libinput (1.10.4). Would you be able to live
boot Ubuntu 19.04 (http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/) and
tell us if that (libinput 1.12.6) has the same bug?

** Description changed:

+
+ ---
+
While moving pointer (cursor) using Touchpad, vertical movement is very
slow and short (= less velocity and less acceleration compared to
horizontal axis). Horizontal movement is fine. So, when circle is drawn
on the Touchpad, the pointer moves in oval shape.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813843] Re: Xorg crash

2019-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1778011] Re: SRU: PRIME Power Saving mode draws too much power

2019-01-29 Thread Dan Robinson
@Alberto:

Sorry for the lateness of my reply, apparently Launchpad doesn't
automatically subscribe me just because I commented...

Anyway, I am attaching both gpu-manager.log and gpu-manager-switch.log
for when both the Nvidia profile and Intel profiles are selected.

FWIW, I discovered that once I select the Intel profile I can use
bbswitch to shut the card down for full power saving. This behavior
remains constant regardless of whether I have TLP running or not.
Powertop shows the Nvidia card tunable set to "Good" even without TLP
running.

As far as I can tell, the issue seems to be that on my hardware the only
way to shut the card down completely is through a dedicated ACPI message
(i.e., what bbswitch does) rather than "normal" PCIe power management.

Let me know if I need to do anything else, this laptop is not essential
for productivity so if I need to try to break stuff I'm up for that.

2019-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Sounds like we _could_ make this a duplicate of bug 1802976. But I
wouldn't just yet...

If you are sure that reverting to an older kernel like 4.18.0-10 fixes
the problem then we should focus on that here.

Can you please find the *latest* older kernel version that fixes the
problem from this list?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1778011] Re: SRU: PRIME Power Saving mode draws too much power

I noticed off a clean boot on Intel gpu-manager.log was different from
when I just logged out and logged back in so I'm attaching that file
now.

No change as far as power consumption goes though.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813843] [NEW] Xorg crash

2019-01-29 Thread Rae
Public bug reported:

With the newest updates to 18 & with the HP VGA monitor attached I can
enter the pswd but will NOT get to the home screen. It hangs at a black
screen.

If I detach the VGA cable I can power down and boot up to the internal
Laptop screen then attach the VGA after logging into Ubuntu. All is fine

ProblemType: Bug

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 788596] Re: xclock's reverseVideo draws black on black

2019-01-29 Thread Chris Rainey
* CORRECTION * It is necessary to specify the class or instance for
correct application of preferences when logging in to a fresh session
due to the app defaults in:

/etc/X11/app-defaults/XClock*

>From the xclock man page:

"WIDGETS
In order to specify resources, it is useful to know the hierarchy of the
widgets which compose xclock. In the notation below, indentation indicates
hierarchical structure. The widget class name is given first, followed by the
widget instance name.

   XClock xclock
   Clock clock
"

so, my corrected .Xresources file would be this:

~$ cat .Xresources
*background: #00
*foreground: #ff

XClock.Clock.majorColor:#66
XClock.Clock.minorColor:#44
XClock.Clock.hourColor: #88
XClock.Clock.minuteColor: #88
XClock.Clock.secondColor: #22
XClock*geometry:350x350-125+75

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813792] [NEW] Window decorations flicker with OpenGL renderers

2019-01-29 Thread ralphb
Public bug reported:

When using the KDE desktop for a certain amount of time (seems random),
the window decoration in the top-left corner starts for flicker for the
active application. The flickering remains when the application loses
focus, so more and more decorations will flicker.

The flickering occurs for both OpenGL renderers, but not with XRender.
I know no way of making the flickering stop, except for rebooting or
switching to XRender and back.

These issues started with Kubuntu 18.04, if I remember correctly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813701] Re: [amdgpu] Flickering graphics corruption in kernel 4.18.0-13.14-generic 4.18.17 (but none observed in kernel 4.18.0-10)

2019-01-29 Thread Ivan Grigoryev
** Description changed:

- https: //www.youtube. ком / смотреть? v = d_LXHqWKTbk
+ The screen always flickers at a frequency of 75 GHz on the AMD RX 580 gpu. At
60 and 50 GHz, if you switch to any other than 75, the flickering will
disappear until the display turns off. After switching on, flicker returns. At
the core of 4.18.0-10, just like on the AMD Radeon HD7970 gpu, the problem is
not visible. More in the video

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1783987] Re: German Neo2 Problem with Xubuntu 18.04 (try out mode)

2019-01-29 Thread Martin Beeger
Deactivating numlock before activting neo2 also fixed this issue for me.

So it is an interference between those two.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813757] [NEW] xrandr short freeze of hardware accelerated video playback with gstreamer

2019-01-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

i encounter a strange issue with hardware accelerated video playback
with gstreamer (vaapi) and calls to xrandr to query display information.

I dont know for sure what causes this behaviour, but i think it is the
intel driver or xrandr, or a combination of both.

IMPORTANT: The bug only appears if i use a DisplayPort Adapter (DP to
DVI, or DP to HDMI, doesnt matter) to connect the computer to my
monitor. If i connect the monitor directly via DispalyPort the bug is
not encountered. (using the DisplayPort directly without adapter is
unfortunately not an option for me)

Bug Description:
If i play some hardware accelerated mp4/mov files via gst-launch-1.0 and call
"xrandr -d :0.0" the video freezes about 9 of 10 times for round about half a
second or so. If i do the same without a DisplayPort Adapter connected between
my computer and my monitor the video plays fine and no framedrops are visible.

System description:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813759] [NEW] Scale display doesn't work with an external monitor attached

2019-01-29 Thread Carlos Perelló Marín
Public bug reported:

I have a Dell XPS 13" (2018) connected to an LG 4K 32" display thru
USB-C cable. both screens are supposed to have the same resolution, but
the laptop one uses 200% of scale setting due to small size.

When the laptop is connected to the external display, the scale setting
does nothing and almost everything looks pretty small and hard to read,
only gnome-terminal content seems to follow the scaling setting but
windows decorators and app menus are pretty small.

If I disconnect the external display everything works as expected (at
least with the usual apps like GNOME apps, Firefox, Chrome, etc...).

I'm using Ubuntu 18.10 with latest updates installed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813738] Re: laptop doesnt wake up

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1813735] [NEW] dual taskbar ?

2019-01-29 Thread laulau
Public bug reported:

when the computer stays locked for a long time (let's say, the whole night), a
taskbar appears on top of the lock screen.
when unlocked, it seems that there is 2 taskbars (with little margin
differences, see attached screencast).

config : ubuntu 18.10
standart ubuntu desktop
dock configured at bottom
no gnome extension activated
many applications running (haven't done the test without apps running)

apps are still launchable, only the margin difference is annoying.
haven't tried to launch app from the lock screen, it may be a security issue.
