[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1868896] [NEW] 20.04 items won't stay minimized

2020-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I just ran all of the updates for 20.04 on two machines, and both
machines experience the same issue.

Items do not appear to stay "minimized". For instance, you can minimize
Thunderbird, and it appears to re-maximize itself. However, you cannot
click on anything in the maximized window, but you can re-minimize it
(that button does work), then click the dock to bring it back out and it
functions properly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1868897] [NEW] System hangs on sleep and won't boot on battery power

2020-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Whenever I try to suspend to RAM by either closing the laptop in battery
mode or by clicking sleep on the power menu, the screen goes black, but
the laptop never fully goes to sleep. The keyboard backlight and power
button stay lit, and the computer won't wake up. The only way to
restore it is to hold down the power button to force a full shutdown.
I've had this issue on Kubuntu 19.10 as well as 20.04.

On boot, I get an error message about AMD Vi: unable to read/write IOMMU
perf counter. I am unsure if that is related to my issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1868780] Re: Xubuntu 20.04 - Blank screen after login

2020-03-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1865379] Re: Raspberry Pi 4 fails to wake at login prompt

2020-03-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
That's just a bug in the script. The script only supports binary package
names and Launchpad only tracks source package names. So it's sometimes
hard to get them to agree. It's not relevant here.

FWIW, I have no crash selecting « Nouveau » driver for nvidia GPU.
But doing so, I'm unable to configure correctly opengl in a chroot from where I
launch graphical tools in a Jessie. I can with the NVDIA installer.
Bug set back to « New » as I've completed it the most I could.

I would like to also mention that Ubuntu 20.04 Daily (not MATE) crashes
on Virtualbox and KVM and that, as mentioned previously, running `sudo
apt-get purge gstreamer1.0-vaapi` fixes the crash to login issue.
Another workaround is to use Ubuntu on Wayland but in Virtualbox no
mouse pointer is visible.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1848951] Re: High CPU when just moving the mouse

2020-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package mutter - 3.36.0-2ubuntu1

---
mutter (3.36.0-2ubuntu1) focal; urgency=medium

  * Merge with debian. Remaining changes:
+ debian/control:
  - Update VCS flags to point to ubuntu salsa branch
+ debian/gbp.conf: update branch to point to ubuntu/master
+ debian/patches/x11-Add-support-for-fractional-scaling-using-Randr.patch:
  - X11: Add support for fractional scaling using Randr
  * d/p/clutter-master-clock-default-Sync-timelines-to-hardware-v.patch:
- Improves smoothness and reduce input-to-output latency
  levels (LP: #1862308)
  * debian/libmutter-6-0.symbols:
- Update as per background mipmap levels patch symbol addition
  * Ubuntu bugs resolved since 3.35.91-1ubuntu1:
- Higher than necessary CPU usage on mouse movement (LP: #1848951)
- No mouse cursor drawn for radeon in Wayland sessions (LP: #1867080)
- Restarting displays apps running on other workspaces (LP: #1819890)
- Volume/brightness OSD make fullscreen video flicker (LP: #1828697)

mutter (3.36.0-2) experimental; urgency=medium

  * control: Build against gnome-desktop 3.36 and break old gnome-shell. So we
get dependencies on libgnome-desktop-3-19. Otherwise we get two different
versions of gnome-desktop loaded into GNOME Shell, which crashes. Break
old gnome-shell for the inverse reason - it needs to be upgraded otherwise
we get the mismatch the other way around.

mutter (3.36.0-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
+ Fix placement of popup windows in multi-monitor setups
+ Fix invisible mouse cursor on some hardware
+ Updated translations

mutter (3.35.92-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
+ Add side channel for starting required X11 services
+ Allow remote desktop services to inhibit animations
+ Avoid flicker when (un)redirecting windows
+ Fix clipping glitches in long text entries
+ Fix visibility of initially hidden windows
+ Implement scaled/transformed hardware cursors
+ Let BindConstraints update the preferred size
+ Make check-alive timeouts configurable
+ Make each stage view correspond to a single CRTC
+ Make Xwayland startup asynchronous
+ Ping windows on every window focus
+ Remove overhead from hot code paths
+ Support synchronized wayland popup moving
+ Update screen-cast code to PipeWire 0.3 API
+ Use DMA buffers for screencasting if possible
  * d/p/*: Rebase
  * rules: Disable remote-desktop temporarily. This now requires pipewire 0.3
which is not packaged yet and needs to be worked on
  * control: Bump wayland-protocols dep to 1.19 per meson.build
  * debian/libmutter-6-0.symbols: Add new symbols for this release. One symbol
which was introduced in .90 was dropped; -6's ABI is not stable yet.

gnome-shell (3.36.0-2) experimental; urgency=medium

  * Split gnome-shell-extension-prefs out into its own binary package.
It's not useful and arguably misleading to show this to everybody by
default, since it is only a tool for enabling/disabling extensions you
have already installed - and we don't provide any out of the box.
Perhaps it'd be useful for individual extensions to cause this to be
installed via Recommends.
  * Cherry-pick a few patches from 3.36.1; see patch descriptions for more
details.
  - d/p/St-Ensure-to-update-entry-hint-visibility-with-IM-preedit.patch
  - d/p/ibusManager-fix-ibus-launch-error-because-of-wrong-method.patch

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1774242] Re: Wacom touchscreens should disable gestures

2020-03-24 Thread Timo Aaltonen
The patch is from current upstream version, and it just flips the
default in the code.

Modifying 70-wacom.conf locally wouldn't be a permanent solution, as a
package update would overwrite it. But flipping the default by the user
via a snippet in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d is still possible.

Also, a quick googling suggests that touchegg is the preferred choice
for the other desktops to use touchscreen gestures. KDE might have
something natively by now, but I'm not sure.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1868474] [NEW] 20.04 Xorg doesn't detect/load Elantech mouse driver on Lenovo P73

2020-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The installation scripts loads the correct drivers so the touch pad and
pointer works during the install. However after the install neither
work.

I've worked around it by using a wireless USB from Vilros for mouse input while
logging in. Then issuing (found on https://askubuntu.com/questions/1143663):
 sudo 'echo -n "elantech">/sys/bus/serio/devices/serio1/protocol'

So it's a bug for me but one I can work around and should be fixed
before 20.04 goes live.

2020-03-24 Thread spike speigel
apport information

** Tags added: reproducible ubuntu

** Description changed:

Raspberry Pi 4 running Ubuntu server 20.04 Focal (and perhaps 19.10
Eoan) fails to wake from sleep when no user is logged in and the screen
is sitting at the gdm login prompt.

This has happened on two different systems. One system uses the
official RPi 7 inch touchscreen via (LCD DSI Display Connector). The
other system has a 10 inch non-touchscreen from SunFounder via (Micro
  HDMI).

Nothing wakes the Pi: Keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen.

After a user logs in and the screen locks on sleep the system wakes just
  fine with a lock screen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1868780] [NEW] Xubuntu 20.04 - Blank screen after login

2020-03-24 Thread Mike Glover
Public bug reported:

Both on Xubuntu 20.04 23rd March and 24th March daily build.
Using Martin Wimpress QuickEMU setup.
Installation part of xubuntu is working fine.
But after install and reboot, you get the login box. I type in the password for
the user and then just get a black screen and mouse cursor, no other error
boxes or gui.
Have tested my QuickEMU setup on ubuntu-mate and do not see this issue, only on
Xubuntu daily builds do I see this issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1774242] Re: Wacom touchscreens should disable gestures

2020-03-24 Thread Brian Murray
Why was it decided to fix this via patch to xf86-input-wacom instead of
modifying 70-wacom.conf to use "Option Gesture Off"? It seems to me that
it would be easier for users of other desktop environments to revert the
change (and avoid a regression in behavior) by switching "Option
Gesture" back to on.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1868614] Re: at log in the resolution changes before going to desktop

2020-03-24 Thread Kain Centeno
Hi Daniel,

You seem to be correct as I tried with 3840x2160 at 2x and it seems to
be less of an issue visually but the screen still goes dark when it does
the change of resolutions on step 2 for succesful login. The mouse goes
from being at the centre of the screen to end up close to the lower
right.

I will run the command now.

** Tags added: apport-collected reproducible ubuntu wayland-session

** Description changed:

This happens on Ubuntu 19.10 and still happening on Ubuntu 20.04

Let me give a little background

My laptop (Razer Stealth) has a built in display with default 3840 by 2160.
I currently have it set up to 1920 by 1080, as it drains the battery faster
using the higher resolution.

At login, the resolution show at 1920 by 1080, but after entering the
password, the screen changes the resolution back to the default (3840 by
2160), but once the desktop of the user loads it changes back to 1920 by
  1080.

- The change of resolution can be noticeable because the size of the mouse
- pointer becomes much smaller when logging in.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1715749] Re: Intermittent black screen on HP EliteBook 840 G1

2020-03-24 Thread Brian Zammit
I'm having the same issue on Mint 19.3.

Just installed mint a couple days ago.

Laptop is docked with 1 external monitor attached. The laptop screen
goes black for a few seconds at a time. External monitor stays active,
and I can use the external monitor as usual during the blackout. The
black laptop screen come back to life on its own, and all is back to
normal.

Happens every few hours.
