[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1868896] [NEW] 20.04 items won't stay minimized
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I just ran all of the updates for 20.04 on two machines, and both machines experience the same issue. Items do not appear to stay "minimized". For instance, you can minimize Thunderbird, and it appears to re-maximize itself. However, you cannot click on anything in the maximized window, but you can re-minimize it (that button does work), then click the dock to bring it back out and it functions properly. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1868897] [NEW] System hangs on sleep and won't boot on battery power
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Whenever I try to suspend to RAM by either closing the laptop in battery mode or by clicking sleep on the power menu, the screen goes black, but the laptop never fully goes to sleep. The keyboard backlight and power button stay lit, and the computer won't wake up. The only way to restore it is to hold down the power button to force a full shutdown. I've had this issue on Kubuntu 19.10 as well as 20.04. On boot, I get an error message about AMD Vi: unable to read/write IOMMU perf counter. I am unsure if that is related to my issue. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1774242] Re: Wacom touchscreens should disable gestures
The patch is from current upstream version, and it just flips the default in the code. Modifying 70-wacom.conf locally wouldn't be a permanent solution, as a package update would overwrite it. But flipping the default by the user via a snippet in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d is still possible. Also, a quick googling suggests that touchegg is the preferred choice for the other desktops to use touchscreen gestures. KDE might have something natively by now, but I'm not sure. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1774242 Title: Wacom touchscreens should disable gestures To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1774242/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1865379] Re: Raspberry Pi 4 fails to wake at login prompt
apport information ** Tags added: reproducible ubuntu ** Description changed: Raspberry Pi 4 running Ubuntu server 20.04 Focal (and perhaps 19.10 Eoan) fails to wake from sleep when no user is logged in and the screen is sitting at the gdm login prompt. This has happened on two different systems. One system uses the official RPi 7 inch touchscreen via (LCD DSI Display Connector). The other system has a 10 inch non-touchscreen from SunFounder via (Micro HDMI). Nothing wakes the Pi: Keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen. After a user logs in and the screen locks on sleep the system wakes just fine with a lock screen. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1774242] Re: Wacom touchscreens should disable gestures
Why was it decided to fix this via patch to xf86-input-wacom instead of modifying 70-wacom.conf to use "Option Gesture Off"? It seems to me that it would be easier for users of other desktop environments to revert the change (and avoid a regression in behavior) by switching "Option Gesture" back to on.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1868614] Re: at log in the resolution changes before going to desktop
Hi Daniel, You seem to be correct as I tried with 3840x2160 at 2x and it seems to be less of an issue visually but the screen still goes dark when it does the change of resolutions on step 2 for succesful login. The mouse goes from being at the centre of the screen to end up close to the lower right. I will run the command now. ** Tags added: apport-collected reproducible ubuntu wayland-session ** Description changed: This happens on Ubuntu 19.10 and still happening on Ubuntu 20.04 Let me give a little background My laptop (Razer Stealth) has a built in display with default 3840 by 2160. I currently have it set up to 1920 by 1080, as it drains the battery faster using the higher resolution. At login, the resolution show at 1920 by 1080, but after entering the password, the screen changes the resolution back to the default (3840 by 2160), but once the desktop of the user loads it changes back to 1920 by 1080. - The change of resolution can be noticeable because the size of the mouse - pointer becomes much smaller when logging in. + The change of resolution can be noticeable because the size of the mouse pointer becomes much smaller when logging in. + --- + ProblemType: Bug + ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu21 + Architecture: amd64 + BootLog: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/boot.log' + CompositorRunning: None + CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME + DistUpgraded: 2020-03-17 08:21:46,611 DEBUG Running PostInstallScript: './xorg_fix_proprietary.py' + DistroCodename: focal + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 + DistroVariant: ubuntu + DkmsStatus: + virtualbox, 6.1.4, 5.3.0-42-generic, x86_64: installed + virtualbox, 6.1.4, 5.4.0-18-generic, x86_64: installed + ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes + GraphicsCard: + Intel Corporation Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520] [8086:1916] (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) +Subsystem: Razer USA Ltd. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1715749] Re: Intermittent black screen on HP EliteBook 840 G1
I'm having the same issue on Mint 19.3. Just installed mint a couple days ago. Laptop is docked with 1 external monitor attached. The laptop screen goes black for a few seconds at a time. External monitor stays active, and I can use the external monitor as usual during the blackout. The black laptop screen come back to life on its own, and all is back to normal. Happens every few hours.
