*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1878105 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878105 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878278 Title: Xorg freeze after mouse pointer size change To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1878278/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1878193] Re: Re-logging occurs continuously during ubuntu operation
Thanks for the bug reports. I don't yet fully understand what kind of problem you are trying to report, but I can see a couple of problems in the attached files: (1) The Nvidia driver is not properly installed and not functioning. Please uninstall the Nvidia driver and then reinstall it using the 'Additional Drivers' app. Do not install the the driver manually. (2) The connection to your 4K display seems faulty and constantly being redetected. That might be a cable problem or it might be a software problem caused by (1). Please reinstall the Nvidia driver as described above, and let me know if those are not the issues you are trying to describe. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => nvidia-graphics-drivers-440 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-440 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: nvidia -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878193 Title: Re-logging occurs continuously during ubuntu operation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-440/+bug/1878193/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1878293] [NEW] xterm resize is wonky
Public bug reported: % lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Release:20.04 Codename: focal % wmctrl -m Name: GNOME Shell Class: N/A PID: N/A Window manager's "showing the desktop" mode: OFF Terms: window has four sides: top, bottom, left, and right when referring to corners, "upper" means "top", and "lower" means "bottom", so the four corners are upper-right, lower-right, lower-left, and upper-left. wonky: works wrong, as detailed below ("cases that work wrong...") Description: I can resize a gnome-terminal window, everything works fine. (Grab it, using the mouse, by the upper-right corner (click-and-hold); the size changes as the mouse is moved, because the position of the upper-right corner follows the mouse. (Only the upper-right corner moves.)) But when I try to resize an xterm window the same way, this happens instead: as the mouse is moved, the upper-right corner does move, but it doesn't track with the mouse pointer like it should. Meanwhile, the lower-left corner also moves (it should have remained anchored in its original x-y position on the screen). Cases that work correctly: If the xterm window is grabbed by the lower-right corner and resized, this case works properly. If the xterm window is grabbed by the bottom edge and resized, this case works properly. If the xterm window is grabbed by the right edge and resized, this case works properly. Cases that work wrong ("wonky"): If the xterm window is grabbed by the left edge and resized, then the opposite (i.e. right) edge (incorrectly) migrates. If the xterm window is grabbed by the top edge and resized, then the opposite (i.e. bottom) edge (incorrectly) migrates. If the xterm window is grabbed by the upper-right corner and resized, then the window (incorrectly) migrates. If the xterm window is grabbed by the lower-left corner and resized, then the window (incorrectly) migrates. If the xterm window is grabbed by the upper-left corner and resized, then the window (incorrectly) migrates. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1878278] [NEW] Xorg freeze after mouse pointer size change
Public bug reported: I've attempted to change the size of my mouse pointer (Settings / Universal Access / Cursor Size) from the default. As soon as I did this the desktop froze and eventually turned black. I could ssh in and would see the Xorg process consuming 100% cpu (per top). After killing -9 that Xorg process, and resetting dconf reset /org/gnome/desktop/interface/cursor-size I could log in to a new session. This seems reproducible, i.e. setting up pointer size again would give me the same symptoms. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1877655] Re: [Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140] Trackpad does not work
No change. Still stops working after a few seconds once the full desktop is active. Also I notice once it stops working at that point, if I log out the trackpad continues to not work at the logon screen. Rebooting the system brings back trackpad functionality until I log back in. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877655 Title: [Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140] Trackpad does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libinput/+bug/1877655/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1878247] [NEW] CTRL-Shift-PrntScreen Somtimes does not work
Public bug reported: Im not sure what exactly happens, but it seems like the print screen function does not work. I'll press ctrl-shift-prntscrn and it creates the pointer to select region, then nothing actually gets captured. If I just press print screen, then it takes a whole desktop screen shot and then after that it will let me screenshot an area. Ive had this happen a few times now. Anyway, I figured Id report it. I know its not really enough to go on, but I wanted to report that its happening. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1877655] Re: [Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140] Trackpad does not work
vanvugt: Well, I ran into a little issue. I went ahead and did a reinstall of ubuntu (at the point when I submitted my original bug, I was running PopOS). Before ANY updates, the trackpad works as it should until I launch software center (or even dmesg -w). The instant I run one of those, the track pad stops working. (kernel 5.4.0-26-generic). This activity is the same in Wayland and Xorg. After I did an update to bring it to the latest updates (kernel 5.4.0.29-generic + whatever else needed to be updated from the current ISO downloadable from Ubuntu (I downloaded it this morning to reinstall)) the trackpad works at the login screen as it should (clicks and everything), but once the full desktop is brought up it stops working. It will actually work for a few seconds until the desktop is done loading. kaihengfeng: Ok, this was interesting. I downloaded the tool and ran it, the first interesting thing is that there are 4 entries listed for the input, 3 of which are listed for Synaptics pad - /dev/hidraw0: Synaptics T Pad V 01.31 /dev/hidraw1: Synaptics T Pad V 01.31 /dev/hidraw2: SYNA7500:00 06CB:780E /dev/hidraw3: Synaptics T Pad V 01.31 hidraw0 gives data feed back as I move my finger over the trackpad, clicking the buttons show data scrolling similar to as I move my finger on the trackpad hidraw1 give basic info, but no data feed back as I click or move my finger on the trackpad - this appears to be the hid interface of the keyboard, as I press keys it shows what key I press hidraw2 Is the touch screen of the tablet portion, it gives feed back as I move my finger on the screen hidraw3 I have NO idea what this is, keypresses do nothing, trackpad interaction does nothing, touch screen does nothing, buttons on the side of the screen (volume up/down) do not trigger any feedback hidraw0 is definitely the trackpad input; I wonder if somehow when the desktop pulls up its changing what it thinks it should use for the trackpad from hidraw0 to hidraw3?

I removed all but Desktop Icons, Ubuntu AppIndicators and Ubuntu Dock, rebooted and then reproduced the issue. Luckily I've found one way to reproduce this, albeit somewhat convoluted and still a bit unreliable, involving Synaptic and window tiling. I was just preferring 'ubuntu-bug xorg' to avoid confusing the new bug with the previous comments above. ** Package changed: ubuntu => xorg (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875435 Title: Re-logging occurs continuously during ubuntu operation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1875435/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read 'How to report bugs effectively' http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
