[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1969396] Re: Can't use Right Alt as compose key with English (Dvorak, alt. intl.) layout
Now I have tested a bit more back and forth, and here is a new attempt to describe the nature of the issue: Whether Right Alt works as the compose key or not depends mostly on where in the list of input sources the keyboard layout in effect is present. If the layout in effect is the first one in the list, Right Alt works fine as compose key. This is true whether Alternate Characters Key is switched off or set to "None". (No problem with "English (Dvorak, alt., intl.)" either, in other words, if that layout is first in the list of input sources.) If the layout in effect is further down in the list, Right Alt may or may not work as compose key. Not sure about the exact pattern here. As regards Alternate Characters Key, I notice a marginal impact. If the English (US) layout is not the first layout in the list, Right Alt works as compose key with that layout if Alternate Characters Key is switched off, but not if it's set to "None". It should be noted that English (US) does not set Right Alt to the 3rd level key by default. Steve, does the above description reflect your observations too? Over to the question whether this is a g-c-c bug to some extent. I still think that g-c-c sets sensible options, and that the unexpected behavior is rather an XKB issue. The reason why Alternate Characters Key sets "lv3:ralt_alt" is that it assumes that a user who picks something else but Right Alt wants to be able to use Right Alt as any Alt key. OTOH, given this issue wrt Right Alt as compose key, you can argue that g-c-c should better not provide Right Alt as a compose key option... ** Summary changed: - Can't use Right Alt as compose key with English (Dvorak, alt. intl.) layout + Right Alt not working reliably as compose key unless the layout in effect is first in the list of sources -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969396 Title: Right Alt not working reliably as compose key unless the layout in effect is first in the list of sources To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1969396/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1969959] Re: [nouveau][amdgpu] Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04)
Keep it simple. Please start with only the AMD GPU. If you have a laptop, just disconnect the external monitor. If you have a desktop, just move the monitor connection to the motherboard. You might have to also temporarily remove the Nvidia card during that time or else the system will still prefer Nvidia even while no monitor is connected to it. Once you can use the machine with only AMD graphics, you can install the Nvidia driver manually (even when no Nvidia card is installed): sudo apt install nvidia-driver-510 and reboot. Then it should be safe to go back to using Nvidia and multi- monitors. If you're installing Ubuntu from scratch then the shortcut to all this is to choose the third-party software option during installation. I am of course guessing that the problem is the nouveau driver and not AMD... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969959 Title: [nouveau][amdgpu] Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1969959/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I don't want to spend too much time on nouveau bugs when it has so many known problems. So all Nvidia owners please open the 'Additional Drivers' app and install the proprietary Nvidia driver from there.
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1969959] Re: [nouveau][amdgpu] Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04)
Same here - Nvidia 3060 Ti on AMD X570 platform Panasonic 4K TV via HDMI cable. While welcome screen is fine - the one with "Install" or "try ubuntu", then the screen blink for a while then return with fluo-green-yellow colorset. It is hard to read anything. Re-inserting HDMI cable to force reset the link has no effect.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1970523] Re: [Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 3000 (SNB GT2)] Cannot able to Change gamma on Inspiron 3520.
Thanks for the bug report. Those gamma commands only support Xorg, but you are using a Wayland session without any Xorg running. To use a Xorg session you need to log out and then select 'Ubuntu on Xorg' on the login screen. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970523 Title: [Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 3000 (SNB GT2)] Cannot able to Change gamma on Inspiron 3520.
