[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 697580] Re: after rotation screen is cropped/shifted
the bug is related to compiz - if i switch the display effects of (in system->pref->appearances->visual effects NONE ) the rotation works perfect. remaining questions: why is Section "Device" # addition af Identifier "Configured Video Device" Option "RandRRotation" "On" EndSection not automatically produced? and why does compiz introduce a shift? hope this helps! andrew -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/697580 Title: after rotation screen is cropped/shifted ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 697580] [NEW] after rotation screen is cropped/shifted
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg if i use xrandr -o right (or rotation the screen with the gnome monitor tool) the contents are shifted up (the width is ok, it shows the reformated applets band at the bottom of my screen). it seems that the full screen is there - i can move windows which are partially shown down and use them. at the bottom is a black band - about the height of what is missing on top. i have produced a xorg.conf and have added Section "Monitor" #af Identifier "Configured Monitor" EndSection Section "Device" # addition af Identifier "Configured Video Device" Option "RandRRotation" "On" EndSection rotation of stylus input works (great job!) and on the rotated screen is seemingly correct (i.e. about an inch lower than the button i want to hit - reflecting the shifting of the display). perhaps connected: this is a new install of ubuntu 10.10. it did recognize the wacom serial stylus input automatically but did not allwow the xrandr to work. thank you for the progress with xorg for tablets! andrew ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: xorg 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-24.42-generic 2.6.35.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-24-generic i686 Architecture: i386 DRM.card0.LVDS.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1024x768 edid-base64: DRM.card0.VGA.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: Date: Wed Jan 5 10:57:35 2011 DkmsStatus: dkms.conf: Error! the touchscreen is handled correctly but the calibration package needs to be included and fixed to understand where to find the touchscreen - it uses HAL and must be changed (i am sure that other input devices needed to be changed from HAL to the new system). where is a descriptiv document on the replacement of HAL? i would then fix the touchscreen_calibration.sh - i have looked at the code before and improved/fixed it before. for this i need an understanding what replaces HAL. andrew -- calibration utility is missing for touchscreen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/557923 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

in karmic: the calibrate_touchscreen.sh is a link to ../lib/xf86-input-evtouch/calibrate.sh the code there cannot be executed, because "Could not initialise connection to hald. Normally this means the HAL daemon (hald) is not running or not ready." and it produces a nice error message No evtouch capable device found, if you are sure you have an evtouch capable touchscreen, please mail the resulting file of the command "lshal > evtouch_hal.out" to the bug url https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317094, so support for your device can be added. i hope this helps in tacking down the problem, which is crucial for lucid to support touchscreen devices! thank you andrew -- calibration utility is missing for touchscreen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/557923 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 442553] Re: evtoch calibration does not consistently work
after another dist upgrade (fri oct 9 - i got seemingly only part of the upgrade and ubuntu crashed in the process - compiz. report send) i found: twice i had to do the calibration twice in a row. the first time, minx and miny (the figure top left) is 4xx/4xx and remains in the 400 range for both (this is wrong for myscreen, it should be 400/1400). after calibration, the cursor is somewhere ... when i do calibration immediately afterwards again, then it starts with 2000/2000 and goes quickly to 400/1400 range figures. then the calibration is good after restarting the xserver with ctrl-alt-bcksp. this is confusing and i hope you can fix it. andrew -- evtoch calibration does not consistently work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-evtouch in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 446123] [NEW] evtouch calibrrtation fails with multiple monitors
Public bug reported: i observe that touchscreen calibration produces a reasonable (but still wrong minY) value config file, but when this file is used then a small area of the touchscreen is mapped to the second screen. another small area is mapped to the touchscreen itself. it is obviously a serious miscalculation occuring when two monitors (not mirrored) are used . i guess that the total envelop of the two screens is mapped to the touchscreen area - and then only the two small areas are actually controlling the cursor in a visible window. when i had a single monitor configuration, it worked. expected behavious: the touchscreen controls the cursor on the touchscreen only - to go to the other screen a mouse is required. principle for touchscreens: the cursor is under the touch... thank you for fixing andrew ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 CheckboxSubmission: 71519a5e155620fc8a489e4b79619f6a CheckboxSystem: 2abf16d4e86c450ae46e3232dd0d1917 Date: Thu Oct 8 10:25:53 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 MachineType: FUJITSU LifeBook P1630 Package: xserver-xorg-input-evtouch 0.8.8-0ubuntu3 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-12-generic root=UUID=10394d0e-9429-41f4-ad98-667d6f72fcd9 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-12.39-generic RelatedPackageVersions: xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu5 libgl1-mesa-glx 7.6.0~git20090817.7c422387-0ubuntu7 libdrm2 2.4.13-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.8.1-1ubuntu2 xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.99+git20090825.fc74e119-0ubuntu2 SourcePackage: xf86-input-evtouch Uname: Linux 2.6.31-12-generic i686 XorgConf: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' XsessionErrors: (gnome-settings-daemon:2468): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (nautilus:2565): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:2576): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (gnome-panel:2564): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -11 and height 24 (gnome-panel:2564): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -11 and height 24 dmi.bios.date: 11/14/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: FUJITSU // Phoenix Technologies Ltd. dmi.bios.version: Version 1.07 dmi.board.name: FJNB1F8 dmi.board.vendor: FUJITSU dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: A322H10305301010 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnFUJITSU//PhoenixTechnologiesLtd.:bvrVersion1.07:bd11/14/2008:svnFUJITSU:pnLifeBookP1630:pvr:rvnFUJITSU:rnFJNB1F8:rvr:cvnA322H10305301010:ct10:cvr: dmi.product.name: LifeBook P1630 dmi.sys.vendor: FUJITSU fglrx: Not loaded system: distro: Ubuntu architecture: i686kernel: 2.6.31-12-generic ** Affects: xf86-input-evtouch (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- evtouch calibrrtation fails with multiple monitors https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446123 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-evtouch in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 442553] Re: evtoch calibration does not consistently work
afer some experimentation i found that touchscreen calibration sets the value minY wrongly - it uses a value similar to minX, but it should be different (in my case minX is 449 and minY is 1384. i checked the code of the calibrate_touchscreen, but i cannot understand the logic. where is some documentation found? -- evtoch calibration does not consistently work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-evtouch in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

this is from a fujitsu p1630 with the setting for tablet. my problem may be that i installed the system with setting 'touch screen' but i think tablett gives the better resolution. how do i make HAL retest the devices and install both options? thank you andrew ** Attachment added: "evtouch_hal.out" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/33112533/evtouch_hal.out -- meta bug to collect lshal touchscreen info https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317094 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-evtouch in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 442553] [NEW] evtoch calibration does not consistently work
Public bug reported: i have a touchscreen. karmic detects the stylus out of the box !! great!!! but i cannot calibrate the stylus. i have installed the touchscreen calibration and it produces an etc/evtouch/config file (and i have replaced it with one that i am sure to be working from the jaunty installation). after restart it sometimes uses this calibration , sometimes not. then the stylus sends the cursor always into the lower left corner (trash opens) indepenent where on the screen i touch. sometimes it works. it seems that the evtouch/config file is not always read during startup (is there a way to force this reading? is there a way to check that it is read?) thank you - progress to an out of the box working for tablets is made! andrew ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Oct 4 22:29:41 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 MachineType: FUJITSU LifeBook P1630 Package: xserver-xorg-input-evtouch 0.8.8-0ubuntu3 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-11-generic root=UUID=10394d0e-9429-41f4-ad98-667d6f72fcd9 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-11.38-generic RelatedPackageVersions: xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu5 libgl1-mesa-glx 7.6.0~git20090817.7c422387-0ubuntu7 libdrm2 2.4.13-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.8.1-1ubuntu2 xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.99+git20090825.fc74e119-0ubuntu2 SourcePackage: xf86-input-evtouch Uname: Linux 2.6.31-11-generic i686 XorgConf: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' dmi.bios.date: 11/14/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: FUJITSU // Phoenix Technologies Ltd. dmi.bios.version: Version 1.07 dmi.board.name: FJNB1F8 dmi.board.vendor: FUJITSU dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: A322H10305301010 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnFUJITSU//PhoenixTechnologiesLtd.:bvrVersion1.07:bd11/14/2008:svnFUJITSU:pnLifeBookP1630:pvr:rvnFUJITSU:rnFJNB1F8:rvr:cvnA322H10305301010:ct10:cvr: dmi.product.name: LifeBook P1630 dmi.sys.vendor: FUJITSU fglrx: Not loaded system: distro: Ubuntu architecture: i686kernel: 2.6.31-11-generic ** Affects: xf86-input-evtouch (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- evtoch calibration does not consistently work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-evtouch in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
