[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1064329] Re: High CPU load (above 50%) on Xorg process when browsing low graphic intensive sites
I can confirm this bug but I'll have to disagree with Karl. This problem seems to be unrelated to the DE in use as I am experiencing it on Openbox, LXDE and Unity. I can easily reproduce this bug by accessing any type of HTML5 website. Here are some examples: http://fff.cmiscm.com/#!/main http://sidigital.co/ http://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/preventing-gun-violence As for CPU load when moving around windows, the CPU usage does seem to be higher than necessary (~15% on LXDE at the specs outlined below). Is this how it's supposed to be? Some additional information: - reproducible both with FF and Chrome - mean CPU load on HTML5 website ~30% with Core i5 @ 2.66GHz - graphics: AMD HD5650 Mobility Radeon on FGLRX (Catalyst 12.6) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1064329 Title: High CPU load (above 50%) on Xorg process when browsing low graphic intensive sites To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/chromium-browser/+bug/1064329/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 969860] Re: fglrx uses 100% CPU when screen turns off (spinning in glXWaitVideoSyncSGI or glXSwapBuffers)
Just a small heads-up: Activating Force full screen redraw (buffer swap) on repaint caused a significant increase in CPU load with regular usage on my system. That's why I had to go back to deactivating the automatic screen switch entirely. In the course of doing so I discovered another bug in that the automatic screen lock does not work as long as the display isn't turned off. Has anyone else experienced something similar here? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969860 Title: fglrx uses 100% CPU when screen turns off (spinning in glXWaitVideoSyncSGI or glXSwapBuffers) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/969860/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I am sorry, I'll have to revoke my statement. After restarting the system everything works fine again thanks to the workarounds posted in the OP. Confirmed. Workarounds don't work. I would love to supply the stack info as requested in posts #4 and #5. But when I enter the command I get the following error message: ~$ sudo sh ./dstack compiz compizstack.txt sh: 0: Can't open ./dstack Also, how can I enter the command when the problem disappears as soon as I unlock my machine?
