Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1655752] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in libinput_device_config_tap_get_finger_count()
Ok, so I downgraded from 0.19.0-1 which I had manually installed from yakkety, and installed 0.18.0-1ubuntu0.1 from xenial-proposed. I tried one clear test so far, and it did not crash. It also seemed to log in from wake up quite a bit faster. It would usually hang for a while after I entered my password. Thanks so much! If I encounter the problem again, I'll report back. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1655752] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in libinput_device_config_tap_get_finger_count()
I'm getting this same crash on ElementaryOS Loki (based on Ubuntu 16.04) with light-locker 1.7.0-2ubuntu1 and xserver-xorg-input-libinput 0.18.0-1. It is on a Dell m3800 with dual Intel/nVidia graphics setup with bumblebee and nouveau. I'm pretty sure it happens when I put the laptop to sleep with the external mouse plugged in, then I wake up the laptop without that mouse plugged in. I happens right after I log into the lock screen. I can only move the mouse pointer, although the the login via SSH is still possible and works fine. By restarting the Xorg Server I can gain control over the local terminal again. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1405841] [NEW] Xorg freezes after a few hours running
Public bug reported: Apologies if I failed to find a variant of this type of bug that relates to my problem. There are too many hits to this Xorg error in Google. Xorg sort of freezes after some time running, even when unused. The mouse cursor moves, but there is not reaction to clicking, or to the keyboard. This correlates with the error in the Xorg.0.log: (EE) [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed. (Full log attached.) No input events are processed. The hardware has been running various Ubuntu releases without change, right now I'm very unsure when I last upgraded the box. The Trusty - Utopic upgrade went awry, at least partly because it did not tell me in advance that my root filesystem was too small at 12 GB. (/var, /tmp etc are separate filesystems.) So I did a fresh install and that is the one freezing. Note that it is only the Xorg server freezing, I can SSH in and reboot. Restarting lightdm does not cure the problem, so I believe something inside the kernel is stuck. That command was accepted without error. I restarted lightdm (and later the machine, too) and face now the following: The login screen attempts and I enter my password for my user from 13.04. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1130938] Re: Black screen after resuming from suspend [Dell XPS 15z]
I encountered the same problem (at least it's the same symptoms). This seems to be a bug with the backlight (possibly http://www.mail-archive.com/intel-gfx@lists.freedesktop.org/msg18396.html, n ot sure how nouveau is related - I got hit by this on an Intel HD4000). Luckily, I've found a quick workaround for this. Run this as root (sudo -s): cat EOF /etc/pm/sleep.d/60intel #!/bin/sh # Force backlight on after resume case $1 in thaw|resume) cd /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight cat max_brightness brightness ;; *) exit $NA ;; esac EOF chmod +x /etc/pm/sleep.d/60intel That's it. This tells the system to set the backlight to full on resume. Even if it is already set to full, this causes the video driver to re-enable the backlight. Instead of max_brightness, one could also use actual_brightness to reset to the old value. Of course the cd line would need to be changed according to the backlight driver (whatever's there in /sys/class/backlight), like I said, this version works on an Intel HD4000, it needs modification on non-Intel obviously. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1130938 Title: Black screen after resuming from suspend [Dell XPS 15z] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1130938/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
