[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 941588] [NEW] [945GM] recurrent font corruption
Public bug reported: At least once every day I get font corruption on my laptop. The corruption is blank lines running through certain font glyphs like those lines didn't paint at all--I can see the background behind them. When it happens, each corrupt character is corrupt in the same way throughout the application. Different glyphs can be corrupt in different applications, and restarting an application will usually fix it (though forcing a repaint, e.g. through refreshing a page in Firefox does not). See attached screenshot. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 538346] Re: Display manager in Ubuntu 9.10 not working with dual displays properly
Hi Simon, I'm sorry for these other issues, I guess they're dual-monitor related. /This/ particular bug is resolved, though, so if we want to pursue reports for these other bugs we'll have to find new reports. As far as the mosaic issue while booting, is this in the extra space around the screen with the larger resolution? When I boot with two monitors, the screen with the bigger resolution gets a cropped image with some random junk in the blank area. Sounds similar to you. I couldn't find a bug report on that, so if you want to submit your own (ubuntu-bug xorg), I'll confirm it for you. The shutdown issue was probably unrelated to the video driver, and the Unknown Program issue is almost definitely unrelated to the crash after you were able to logout. If you can reproduce either one, please do submit a report about it. Based on what you have told me, I don't think you have to worry about X crashes during a session. The issues seem to be when starting up or shutting down the session, which is typically much more error-prone. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- Display manager in Ubuntu 9.10 not working with dual displays properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/538346 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nv in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 502485] Re: [Radeon Xpress 200M] white screen after VT switch with VESA driver
Yep, I can still reproduce this on lucid. Note that I had to use radeon.modeset=0 boot parameter or else the VESA driver wouldn't load. Setting back to Confirmed. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-vesa (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-vesa I'm currently running X with the VESA driver while debugging a suspend issue, and came across a freeze in the VESA driver on my hardware. Steps to reproduce: 1) Boot to login screen (gdm) using VESA driver 2) Switch to VT1 (Ctrl+Alt+F1) and back to VT7 8 times. 3) Try to switch to VT1 again, screen freezes and fades to white. Machine does not respond to ping. I have tried this over and over again, it always freezes on the 9th attempt, no more, no less. Also, putting the machine in suspend can trigger it if I have already switched VT's 8 times, otherwise a suspend/resume cycle seems to reset the GPU so that I can successfully switch another 8 times! Pretty weird bug. Please let me know if I can provide any more information. PS: Ignore the Xorg log attached by apport, it's from a new session (of course). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 357900] Re: Epia-M6000 display problems hang
Oh, sorry about that, I'm running AMD64 so the -386 kernel wasn't listed on my box. Since I now see it is available for the x86 installs, could you try installing a 386 kernel and see if the problem goes away? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 357845] Re: Pointer can not return from second display
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in xorg. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 357900] Re: Epia-M6000 display problems hang
Well, if you hadn't said anything about cmov I would have thought this was definitely an xorg bug. It's slightly possible it could be a processor issue, but I think it's very unlikely that your computer would get as far as the desktop at all in that case. Anyway, if it really is a cmov issue, then unfortunately this bug is invalid since you're using unsupported hardware. So we'll let the xorg guys decide what to do with this. -- Epia-M6000 display problems hang https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/357900 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

OK, I'll assign this to xserver-xorg-input-evdev. Having an associated packaged is important for ensuring that the bug gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 569803] Re: upgrade 8.04LTS to 10.4LTS RC results in no keyboard available
I'm also going to edit your bug description to target the keyboard issue, I hope you don't mind. Please file a separate report for the flash issue. Thanks! ** Description changed: I have upgraded Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit to Ubuntu 10.4 RC without any problem. But when I upgrade Ubuntu 8.04LTS there are problems: - 1. If flashplugin-nonfree_10.0.1.218+really9.0.262.0ubuntu1_i386 is installed in 8.04LTS the whole process fails resulting in an unusable system. The package manager ends up with: Package is in a very bad inconsistent state message. - I got around this only by removing the above package from 8.04 before the upgrade. 2. When I remove flashplugin, then the upgrade process seems to run fine and results in a booting system. But the system does not accept keyboard input anywhere. Mouse input is OK and input from onboard keyboard is ok also. both above systems are running on VMware. regards, JD -- upgrade 8.04LTS to 10.4LTS RC results in no keyboard available https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569803 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
