[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2013533] [NEW] segfault in iris_dri.so when resuming from sleep
Public bug reported: When resuming from sleep, the desktop crashes and restarts and I am presented with the display-manager log-in screen. All UI applications were terminated as well. It happens often, but not always. I have a Display connected via USB-C/Thunderbolt and usually I power it on along resuming the Laptop from sleep, maybe some timing there is related. system-logs contain the following crash-info: Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: XXX: resource creation failed Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) Backtrace: Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 0: /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg (?+0x0) [0x565164614729] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 1: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (?+0x0) [0x7fdb7530a520] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 2: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iris_dri.so (?+0x0) [0x7fdb73d25c8e] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 3: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iris_dri.so (?+0x0) [0x7fdb73afa90e] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 4: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iris_dri.so (?+0x0) [0x7fdb7312f7bc] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 5: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iris_dri.so (?+0x0) [0x7fdb730f0cff] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 6: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iris_dri.so (?+0x0) [0x7fdb730f41a9] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 7: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iris_dri.so (?+0x0) [0x7fdb730fa919] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 8: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so (?+0x0) [0x7fdb74b5ea53] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 9: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so (?+0x0) [0x7fdb74b4daa1] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 10: /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg (?+0x0) [0x5651645f1a0b] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 11: /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg (?+0x0) [0x5651645f2166] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 12: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so (?+0x0) [0x7fdb74b4e1b8] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 13: /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg (?+0x0) [0x565164584a56] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 14: /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg (?+0x0) [0x565164537a15] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 15: /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg (?+0x0) [0x56516449e4b5] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 16: /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg (?+0x0) [0x5651644a2534] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 17: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (?+0x0) [0x7fdb752f1d90] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 18: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (?+0x0) [0x7fdb752f1e40] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) 19: /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg (?+0x0) [0x56516448b605] Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) Segmentation fault at address 0x10c Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: Fatal server error: Mar 31 08:37:47 dstathink /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[2009152]: (EE) Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1929854] Re: Vital and critical configuration files get overridden by system updates without warning
As to sshd_config: I will, when the case arises again. Unfortunately, I don't use sshd in my boxes on a regular basis and so often discover only changes that possibly happened a long time ago. I remember a nasty change from "PasswordAuthentication no" to "#PasswordAuthentication yes", but honestly it was quite some time ago. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libx11 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1929854 Title: Vital and critical configuration files get overridden by system updates without warning To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1929854/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

As to grub.cfg: I set GRUB_TIMEOUT=5 in my /etc/default/grub, but the timeout for efi was reset to 30 on every update. I didn't know that files in /etc/default/grub.d are supposed to be changed, but I now changed if [ \$grub_platform = efi ]; then set timeout=${GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT:-30} if [ x\$feature_timeout_style = xy ] ; then set timeout_style=menu fi fi in /etc/grub.d/00_header to ... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1929854] Re: Vital and critical configuration files get overridden by system updates without warning
Making changes to /usr/share/X11/locale/en_US.UTF-8/Compose was, at least for some time, the only way to make keyboard composition work in Ubuntu, as ~/.XCompose didn't work anymore, and creating a custom keyboard layout from scratch was not an option (my XCompose contains key compositions for almost the entire non-JCK UniCode character set in XCompose-coding).
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1929854] Re: Vital and critical configuration files get overridden by system updates without warning
Hi Paride Thanks for your feedback. I'm a bit confused and concerned that a critical behaviour like this has to be addressed on package level and is not part of aptitude, but so be it. I will file individual bug reports against the affected packages when a configuration file is next overridden in this package, to avoid to address something that may have already been fixed (e.g. I couldn't say when the last time ssh was updated and sshd_config overridden, while Compose was overridden just recently, and grub.cfg gets overridden almost every time discovery runs). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1855757] Re: [nvidia] Background image corrupted after standby or resume from suspend
OMG, this looks like it's it. On my main computer with Geforce 330M I have a background that's 1x screen res and I haven't been getting the corrupted background. I just switched to a stock Ubuntu bg image, which I presume is much larger than 1440x900, suspended the machine and now it's completely white. The corruption I now get after resume from suspend is this: 1. The Gnome menu (the one on the left after pressing the super key) when using Gnome session is corrupted or invisible. Moving the mouse over the icons makes them appear and closing and re-opening the overlay fixes it. The left menu from Ubuntu session seems fine, but I only tried a couple of suspends as I use the Gnome session. 2. Current program icon in the top bar of the Gnome session gets corrupted. 3. Icons in some applications (like Cura) get corrupted. I think it may be related to Qt. But I guess that would be a different bug? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1855757 Title: [nvidia] Background image corrupted after standby or resume from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1855757/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Bug is fixing when window / application getting refreshed - scrolling up / down or moving window on screen fixing it. Creating Screenshot doesn't fixing it (done by default Print Screen with animation that everything becoming white and going to normal image) I also checked logs (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) but I dont see any error message or something - log finishing after screen setting up. I attached picture with example in firefox window (screenshots was bit edited - facebook's board, chat and chat list been deleted). ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Zrzut ekranu z 2015-10-22 22_26_07.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512454/+attachment/4511460/+files/Zrzut%20ekranu%20z%202015-10-22%2022_26_07.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512454 Title: Refresh change colours To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1512454/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1246683] Re: Middle button does not work for scrolling
This bug is flagged as incomplete. What information is missing to confirm the bug? The problem is well defined, there is a confirmed duplicate/parallel bug for xserver-xorg-input-synaptics. The proposed patch appears to work fine for all thinkpads with clickpad. What is the solution for this issue? Does the patch have to be included in the upstream code xserver-xorg-input-evdev, or should a dedicated package be built and included in the official repositories? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1100312] [NEW] GLX extension fails to initialize in Xvfb
Public bug reported: I request to include the following patch from upstream http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/patch/?id=65642ccb78aa2d4c4e17b9ac42e4ef625c4a6e8b From the ChangeLog: Subject: vfb: Initialize the GLX extension again. This should fix a regression in the 1.13.0 release: commit 5f5bbbe543f65c48ecbb5cce80116a86ca3fbe86 removed a code path used by Xvfb and made it use the default one when initializing extensions. However, this meant the GLX extension was not initialized anymore since it is not part of the `staticExtensions' array. Since it is not possible to just add it to that array after commit aad428b8e21c77397c623b78706eb64b1fea77c9, adopt an approach similar to xwin's and xquartz's and initialize the extension from vfb's `InitOutput'. This has been merged into the mainline already and is bound to be release in 1.13.2 - I kindly request inclusion into the 1.13.0 package on Ubuntu. We use xvfb for our testing scripts and we're dependent on GLX to function in it. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1100312 Title: GLX extension fails to initialize in Xvfb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1100312/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745608] Re: [915GM] font corruption on Intel GMA900
I strongly believe that the big average of the users who are having this same problem are unable to find this page (since the issue is hard to explain) and are thus unable to workaround the issue. I myself have spent 2 days searching - which speaks for itself, doesn't it? So even if the package maintainers only decide to automatically activate DebugWait on these cards by default it would be a great improvement that would solve all future problems. There should be enough code already present in the automatic configuration detection logic of Xorg to add this small check with a few lines of code. Though, I'm not a package maintainer nore do I know how it works. Thus my estimates are surely not the best. All summed up: just hack it so that it works for the masses. Nobody who got a intel GMA900 chipset cares for performance anyway, which means nobody would ever complain anymore. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745608 Title: [915GM] font corruption on Intel GMA900 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/745608/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 463762] Re: After update to karmic ALT-F[1-8] switches to text console
For the record, on the tuxonice mailing list, the following possible solution was given, see http://lists.tuxonice.net/pipermail/tuxonice-users/2010-August/000511.html: If you are on intel graphic chipset(KMS) and you use pm-utils, I think I have some clues about the issue. If you dig deep into pm-hibernate code, you'll see that the no-chvt quirk is used in this case. According to my experience this is bad, I think this switches keyboard into xlate mode (same as you would doing alt-sysrq-R, but can't be really switched back into normal mode). The only way I discovered to prevent this is disabling the no-chvt quirk. My ugly hack consists of commenting a line like this (comment already included): # add_parameters --quirk-no-chvt in the file /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/98video-quirk-db-handler: 360 (on my Debian sid). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 526893] [NEW] xterm wrongly handles Unicode on the prompt when printing text
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xterm xterm misinterpretes some characters and writes junk text to the terminal under the followign conditions: 1. The prompt contains special charachters, in this test case german umlauts 2. The text printed from a command (shell built-in, program, script, etc.) does not end with a line break Steps to reproduce: Start xterm or any terminal emulator relying on it (e.g. gnome- terminal), then create or cd into a directory containing an umlaut (e.g. Ü11). Run a command that generates a one-line output of text, e.g. echo -n Hello. Expecgted behaviour: The output text is printed in front of the next line's command line prompt with the input mark behind the prompt Current behaviour: Text is not printed, instead, parts of the prompt are printed behind it and after the input mark ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Feb 24 09:18:34 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala - Release amd64 (20091027) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 526894] [NEW] xterm wrongly handles Unicode on the prompt when printing text
