[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1706936] Re: Wrong version of libgles1-mesa in Xenial-updates

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1706936] [NEW] Wrong version of libgles1-mesa in Xenial-updates
Public bug reported: Xenial-updates has the following packages: - libgles1-mesa (12.0.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1) - libglapi-mesa (17.0.7-0ubuntu0.16.04.1) The first one depends on libglapi-mesa (= 12.0.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1), but libglapi-mesa has a higher version and so there's a conflict. I've had to remove libgles1-mesa for now, to avoid the conflict. I have Linux Mint 18.1 but I believe it affects anyone using xenial- updates. Source links I used to verify it's a xenial-updates problem: https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updates/libs/libgles1-mesa https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updates/libglapi-mesa ** Affects: mesa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706936 Title: Wrong version of libgles1-mesa in Xenial-updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1706936/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1580472] Re: No visible cursor after logging in
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 ubuntu ** Description changed: After logging in, the cursor is not drawn on the screen. I can see it's effects while moving the mouse or touchpad, as items on the panel gets highlighted, or my unity panel becomes visible. I can even click on them and everything else just works, but I have to figure the cursor position. Workaround: Move to vt1 (CTRL + ALT + F1), log in, and restart the lightdm server: sudo service lightdm restart. Now log in again trough lightdm and cross your fingers, as it doesn't always work, but most of the times does. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1580472] [NEW] No visible cursor after logging in
Public bug reported: After logging in, the cursor is not drawn on the screen. This is actually affecting Xenial not too frequently on real hardware installation. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1543745] Re: Xorg crash prevents login
The problem happens even without acpi_osi= option. I'm now updating this bug from an XFCE session, with which the problem doesn't happen. It always happens when logging in on Unity. This behavior started to happen only recently (about last week), after an update. Before that day it worked even with nvidia drivers installed. ** Description changed: After a recent update, it's no more possible to log in to Ubuntu 16.04 trough lightdm with Unity. I'm attaching .xsession-errors hoping it can be useful. - I'm reporting this from another partition with Trusty, because I did'n - know how to report without any GUI. I'm willing to add details if anyone - helps me on how to send them from the CLI. + *** + Workaround: + remove all the nvidia drivers. + You won't have graphics accelerated but at + least you can log in on Unity. + + sudo apt purge nvidia* + + *** ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+13ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.3.0-7.18-generic 4.3.3 Uname: Linux 4.3.0-7-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: - + ApportVersion: 2.19.4-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Tue Feb 9 20:11:26 2016 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: xenial DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: - bbswitch, 0.8, 4.3.0-5-generic, x86_64: installed - bbswitch, 0.8, 4.3.0-7-generic, x86_64: installed - bbswitch, 0.8, 4.4.0-2-generic, x86_64: installed - psmouse-focaltech, 0.1, 3.19.0-18-generic, x86_64: installed - psmouse-focaltech, 0.1, 3.19.0-20-generic, x86_64: installed + bbswitch, 0.8, 4.3.0-5-generic, x86_64: installed + bbswitch, 0.8, 4.3.0-7-generic, x86_64: installed + bbswitch, 0.8, 4.4.0-2-generic, x86_64: installed + psmouse-focaltech, 0.1, 3.19.0-18-generic, x86_64: installed + psmouse-focaltech, 0.1, 3.19.0-20-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: - Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0416] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) -Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [1043:178d] + Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0416] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [1043:178d] InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-03-21 (325 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Alpha amd64 (20150321) Lsusb: - Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub - Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:57b4 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub + Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub + Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:57b4 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. + Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub MachineType: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1487553] Re: Compiz freezes entire desktop on Wily
Hallo Carla well, I suggest to give a try to the latest propretary nvidia drivers and see how the kernel works with them. Then we will be able to understand if it is a linux or nouveau problem. So go on in this way, remove the three packages of the kernel 4.2.0-996 via synaptic (searching for linux they will be listed), once done reboot in the stock kernel. Install the propretary drivers via software & updates or if you are familiar follow this guide to install the lastests released by nvidia: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NvidiaManual. Remember to backup important things Marking as affecting nouveau as I cannot see anything related to compiz in my system so it is likely something hardware related. The value to set for AreaBottomEdge can be chosen running less /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -i range and checking the y value.
