This bug definitely _does_ still affect other releases, particularly the LTS, which is more suitable for computers of this vintage. Oneiric B2 in particular is unusable for me because of other bugs. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 690201] Re: [arrandale] Hang check timer elapsed ... GPU hung
This bug is still present in a fully-updated Maverick. ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I've had a few OpenGL programs suffer from frozen screens when they use a full-screen mode on my EliteBook 8440p laptop. So far I have only found one way to reproduce the problem. * Launch Kubuntu's system settings app. * In the Display and Monitor control panel, select Screen Saver, and choose an OpenGL Screen Saver. I tried Euphoria and Particle Fountain. Set the screen saver to start after 1 minute. * In the Power Management control panel, find a profile assigned to the Performance profile. Edit the Performance profile to enable display power management, standby after 2 minutes, suspend after 3 minutes. * Do nothing for 4 minutes, then touch a key. For me, the screen lights up showing the last frame of the screen saver . The cursor is active and changes shape as I move it, as if it were reacting to the unseen windows on the screen. Switching to console 1, I see an irregular stream of messages [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed ... GPU hung [drm:i915_do_wait_request] *ERROR* i915_do_wait_request returns -5 Xorg.log ends with [ 4163.368] (WW) intel(0): i830_uxa_prepare_access: gtt bo map failed: Input/output error [ 4163.371] (EE) intel(0): Failed to submit batch buffer, expect rendering corruption or even a frozen display: Input/output error. The Asciiquarium and Blank Screen screen savers don't cause this problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 650770] Re: nvidia 6150 display failure
I tested the computer with a Natty Narwhal image http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/20110202/natty- desktop-i386.iso during an alpha release's QA testing, and found that the video output still rolls. I reported it as separate bug 712280 for QA purposes. I hope to run apport-collect against the next Natty. I don't suppose there's much point trying the Maverick release, given Natty's problem. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/650770 Title: nvidia 6150 display failure ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 712280] [NEW] Natty Live Session video problems on nVida 6150
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau I booted a computer with an nVidia 6150 integrated graphics controller from a CD burnt from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily- live/20110202/natty-desktop-i386.iso. The image on the monitor connected to the component output suffers from vertical roll. Fortunately the monitor connected to the DVI output shows a stable picture. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 690201] [NEW] Hang check timer elapsed ... GPU hung
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I've had a few OpenGL programs suffer from frozen screens when they use a full-screen mode on my EliteBook 8440p laptop. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 650770] [NEW] nvidia 6150 display failure
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau Mythbuntu, Maverick Live CD 20100928. I booted from the live CD. The purple Mythbuntu screen showed itself properly for a few seconds. Then the (plymouth?) Mythbuntu-with-dots loading screen appeared, but it was rolling vertically. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 463067] Re: installer doesn't see mouse button1 up events
The kubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso at http://releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/9.10/ is dated 2009-10-28, so I suppose it is much the same as the daily build in my initial report and will have the same problem. Is there a more recent ISO? The D600 is currently running Lucid, completely updated as of right now with linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic installed, and the problem is still present. -- installer doesn't see mouse button1 up events https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/463067 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 557744] Re: [arrandale] lucid beta 2 live shows black screen
The patch applied to the 2.6.35-7 kernel for Maverick fixes the bug for me. See bug 589940. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 589940] Re: [arrandale] maverick alpha 1 live doesn't display desktop
I installed kubuntu alpha-2 maveric-desktop-i386.iso, booted with nomodeset in the kernel boot options to get a command line, apt-get upgraded, and apt-get dist-upgraded to get the 2.6.35-7 kernel. The display is working well. KWin reports that it could not activate Blur, Cover Switch, Desktop Cube, and Wobbly Windows, but other effects are active. gltron's frame rate is over 50 fps. The built-in keyboard and trackpad work, too. -- [arrandale] maverick alpha 1 live doesn't display desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 589940] Re: [arrandale] maverick alpha 1 live doesn't display desktop
Kubuntu Maverick alpha 2: as before, the Live CD boots to a black screen. A small regression: when booted with nomodeset, X does not come up in a low-graphics mode. Instead, after two attempts the computer drops to a command line. I assume the log files are of no particular interest. -- [arrandale] maverick alpha 1 live doesn't display desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 589940] Re: [arrandale] maverick alpha 1 live doesn't display desktop
I installed Kubuntu Maverick alpha 2, then installed the 2010-07-02-maverick linux-*2.6.35-999.201007021009_* debs. The display now lights up. The built-in keyboard and trackpad are not responsive, but a USB mouse and keyboard work. (The built-in keyboard did work in alpha-2's console before installing the 20100702 debs, but does not work now.) -- [arrandale] maverick alpha 1 live doesn't display desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
