I forgot to mention that I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop and:
gust...@paris:~$ lspci | grep -i vga
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 109934] Re: Black and white S-video output only on PAL TVs with intel video driver

2009-08-02 Thread Gustavo Narea
OK, I think I found the ultimate workaround. :)

If you hate running randr all the time, as much as I do, you can try
this:

1.- Make sure your 'Section Device' contains this:
Driver intel
2.- Add the following section:
Section Monitor
Identifier TV
Option TV Format PAL
EndSection

That's it. Every time you turn your computer on, you'll see everything
with color on your TV.

See the attachment for a sample xorg.conf file.

HTH.

I have a Dell m1330 Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 0c). I've been holding off upgrading because of
the intel bugs. I'm wondering if it's relatively safe to upgrade to 9.04
now. I don't mind doing some configuring but I'm wondering if there's a
condensed list of things I can try if I experience this freezing.

I have the same hardware and, as I reported here recently, this bug is solved
with UXA:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/UxaTesting

UXA works perfectly here. Just add that line to you X config, reboot and enjoy
your Ubuntu install.

UXA fixes all the bugs of the previous driver: Display corruptions and X
freezes. Plus, it doesn't introduce _any_ bugs.

So, I'd really recommend it to you.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 338669] Re: (Needs UXA) painting artifacts after qt4.5 upgrade on intel chipset

2009-05-26 Thread Gustavo Narea
Forgot to add that UXA works flawlessly, it doesn't introduce another
bug. It just works like a charm (I've been using it for one week, played
3D games, used 3D effects, etc).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 375358] Re: [Jaunty] My system freezes several times a day; Ctrl+Alt+Backspace doesn't work.

2009-05-21 Thread Gustavo Narea
Downgrading xserver-xorg-video-intel as explained here
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReinhardTartler/X/RevertingIntelDriverTo2.4
fixes the freezes, but introduces more bugs (Can't play 3D games
anymore, window transparencies don't work anymore, etc).

Should I include the Dell Ubuntu Project in this bug?

** Also affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New
