Please give us our Right Ctrl key back. Forcing everyone to make his own
.Xmodmap to bypass the bug *is* the disproportionnate thing IMO.

I have this several times after boot as well, really annyoing.
If there is really no functional problem afterwards, perhaps the recurring
error messages could be suppressed?

2012-09-09 Thread JC
Hopefully this video shows you what I mean:
http://youtu.be/-F84TOXtAF8

I should be able to have two finger on the clickpad and still be able to
move the cursor. I cannot in Linux distros, however.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1041874] [NEW] No multitouch on synaptics clickpad

2012-08-26 Thread JC
Public bug reported:

I cannot touch nor click one area of the clickpad and use another finger to
move the cursor.
I have checked man synaptics and the arch linux wiki about this, but nothing
creates a multi-touch environment.
Without this functionality, I am completely unable to drag and drop items with
ease.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 892967] Re: LibreOffice main screen has graphical corruption

2012-01-10 Thread JC
After adding the ppa ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers the Libreoffice graphics appear
to be fixed.
However, the globalmenu still does not detect lo-menubar, as shown in the
screenshot.
Here's the updated driver copied from Ubuntu Software Center:
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0+git1201101021.b76865~gd~o
I think before it was 2:2.15?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 892967] Re: libreoffice looks completely messed up when opened

2011-11-22 Thread JC
I ran:
gdb program 21 | tee ~/gdb-libreoffice.txt
And got the message:
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `2'
Libreoffice did not start.

I decided to then run:
libreoffice
And got the message
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module globalmenu-gtk

Then, I decided to open libreoffice, then typed:
 gdb 21 | tee gdb-libreoffice.txt

I followed the backtrace ubuntu wiki as best I could, so sorry if I didn't do
this correctly.
I attached the .txt backtrace file.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 92599] Re: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver

2011-11-07 Thread JC Boggio
@Daniel and Chauncellor:

I seem to have exactly the same problems mentionned by Chauncellor :

- problem is only on Compiz 0.9 (NVidia GeForce GTS240, driver ver. 280.13 on
x86_64)
- Problem only affects moving windows around and dragging icons.
- The very first window movement (right after logging in) works perfectly
- I have disabled DynamicTwinView : no improvement
- I have disabled Detect refresh rate in xorf.conf : no improvement
- I have forced refresh rate to 60Hz (this is what my monitor says) : no
improvement
- I have set Force full screen redraws on repaint : no improvement

So I'm not sure whether this is tearing or stuttering or something else but if
Chauncellor
creates a new bug report, I'd like to know the bug number so please mention it
in this thread.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 757906] Re: compiz assert failure: compiz: intel_tex_image.c:726: intelSetTexBuffer2: La declaración `!texImage-Data' no se cumple.

2011-05-02 Thread jc-sama
This bug is stopping of migrate from 10.10 to 11.04. I tested ubuntu
11.04 on other computer, an Acer Aspire One also with intel graphics and
the problem persists there too, if i try to plug an extra monitor, the
graphics of the computer gets screwed and they don't go back to normal
until i turn off and unplug the extra monitor.

I think the problem is the mobile Intel graphic express chipset, so i have
found this:
http://intellinuxgraphics.org/documentation.html

is something about that in ubuntu distributions?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 661586] Re: Show Current Layout image not refreshing with new keymapping data

This process can be triggered by gnome-keyboard-properties and friends
or at startup of the machine.

Does not, that's why I asked and filed a bug report ^_^ (unless I
misunderstood what you mean, for which I apologize).

Thank you again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 672874] [NEW] Show Current Layout image is showing VoidSymbol too

2010-11-08 Thread JC John Sese Cuneta / 謝施洗 / ᜑᜓᜏ ᜈ᜔ ᜃᜓᜈᜒᜆ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config

In the file, we can explicitly tell the system to not produce anything
with a particular key by using VoidSymbol. It works fine, however,
the Show Current Layout image also displays VoidSymbol or just …
when there isn't enough space.

If VoidSymbol is not used, the system checks the next highest keyboard
layout in the list for a corresponding value, something like: if
layout2:key5 is empty then produce layout1:key5. At least this is how
it always happen on my end using Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop 64-bit and Ubuntu
10.10 UNR 32-bit.

I think the system when generating the Show Current Layout image
should just leave VoidSymbol as empty, not displaying VoidSymbol or
….

I attached two screenshots for reference.

** Affects: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 661586] [NEW] Show Current Layout image not refreshing with new keymapping data

2010-10-15 Thread JC John Sese Cuneta / 謝施洗 / ᜑᜓᜏ ᜈ᜔ ᜃᜓᜈᜒᜆ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config

Asked here first: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/xkeyboard-config/+question/129705 and filing a bug was suggested.

The bug is, the image in the Show Current Layout is not refreshing
after updating the keymapping data (even after a reboot). The first
image that was generated by XKB sticks as the Show Current Layout
image.

Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit Desktop

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 538648] Re: [Intel GM45] Irregular sync flashes on 8086:2a42 (Needs i915.powersave quirk)

2010-05-20 Thread JC
@ Andy Whitcroft

I hadn't the time to try that kernel of yours but latter maybe this
weekend I'll try then.

I have another *maybe interesting* fact to report: I installed KDE in
this Ubuntu 10.04 and since then I have no screen glitches/flickering!
Nothing at all. Even in Gnome. Maybe this problem/bug is related to the
gnome-power-manager or something?

Notice I'm running '2.6.32-22-generic' kernel and this Ubuntu 10.04 was
a fresh install. I have an Intel 915GM Chipset in this Sony laptop and
X.Org X Server 1.7.6.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 538648] Re: [Intel GM45] Irregular sync flashes on 8086:2a42 (Needs i915.powersave quirk)

2010-05-17 Thread JC
Hello,

I also have this weird bug in my Sony Vaio VGN-FJ1S with an Intel 915
VGA. Strangely this only started yesterday I guess (!)

Well more important: I found a workaround for this: Add to Panel...
CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor and then I set it to work at 1.33 GHz
(the max. for me it's 1.73 GHz) and it's ok, no more screen
dim/flickering !

Nevertheless I hope this will be fixed soon.

Cheers,
JC

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 567076] Re: Nvidia driver fails to find laptop LCD

2010-05-15 Thread JC
One similar solution which I have read about is to go fetch the edid
file from a windows installation (if you have one). The windows drivers
detect the screen correctly and the format of the file is the same..
solution was posted for 210M but I believe it could work for 310M as
well if the problem is the same (wrong edid detection)
