[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1278223] Re: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor

2014-08-05 Thread Jack Wasey
disabling vsync (i used ccsm) helps a lot, but doesn't fix the problem
completely. I have three monitors, two on a radeon card, one on the on-
chip intel GPU.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 522167] Re: adding second monitor changes colors/colours in first monitor

2010-02-17 Thread Jack Wasey
yes, xrandr lets me change xgamma for each monitor - thanks for the tip
- BUT this doesn't help with firefox sometimes thinking it needs to make
a colour correction and sometimes not.

I do not think this is a firefox bug. After running the xrandr gamma
commands, firefox began rendering purplish blues again. This suggests to
me that something between xrandr and firefox misinterprets colour
information.

This may also be relevant:
http://www.color.org/version4html.xalter
It shows that firefox 3.6 only supports ICC version 2 color profiles. I'm
unable to tell what ICC version colour profiles are in the two test images I
posted before.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 522167] [NEW] adding second monitor changes colors/colours in first monitor

2010-02-15 Thread Jack Wasey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have two ViewSonic monitors a VA1912W (connected via a VGA cable) and
a VX2260WM connected by DVI.

With both monitors connected, the DVI monitor shows purple blues. I
cannot adjust the colors with any tools I have tried. Notably xgamma
only changes the first monitor. xdpyinfo shows one single screen, and
it appears that xgamma isn't able to program individual monitors
comprising one screen.

Removing the VA1912W VGA monitor and rebooting shows that normal purples
are displayed.

The color problem can be seen by looking at:
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/all_tests.php
and
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/all_noprofile.php
which have test images with and without color profile information attached. I
don't have the knowledge or time to work out whether all the desktop is wrong,
or just images in firefox (and other color profile aware apps).

I've tried the monitor in sRGB and 6500K color modes with the second attached
and no change.
To repeat, xgamma definitely cannot adjust the 2nd (in my case DVI attached)
monitor.

I think this is a gamma problem related to a dual head set-up with
different monitors. Is X capable of programming different gamma to
multiple heads?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 522167] Re: adding second monitor changes colors/colours in first monitor

2010-02-15 Thread Jack Wasey
I've hotplugged the VGA monitor and the colours in the DVI monitor are now
displayed correctly in both monitors.
xgamma still only changes the VGA monitor. Will see if the colors are correct
after reboot.
