[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 317094] Re: evtouch meta bug to collect lshal info

2009-05-13 Thread Jake
G'Day,

I have a CF-18 toughbook with a LBPS/2 Fujitsu Lifebook TouchScreen. I
have previously had this working on hardy with evtouch drivers compiled
against an older version of xorg, however this does not work on jaunty.
If support could be added by default for this screen it would be greatly
appreciated.

Jake

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1978980] Re: [amdgpu] Wrong external screen resolution after wake up from sleep

2022-10-17 Thread Jake Jellinek
I don't know if my problem is the same as this bug or not. Ubuntu
22.04.1 LTS clean install.

Dell Latitude 5520 laptop.

I have two external monitors attached, one via HDMI and one via USB-C
(different resolutions on each monitor)

After the screen locks, when coming back after 15 minutes or so and
putting in my password to resume my session, the USB-C monitor has
changed to a lower resolution and the layout of the three monitors has
changed around.

I correct this by unplugging the usb-c connector and plugging it back in
again whereupon everything goes back to how it should be.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1173238] Re: Ubuntu starts up to black screen.

2013-04-29 Thread Jake Migler
I'm seeing the same behavior on an HP 530 laptop (don't have it in front
of me at the moment; it's either a 945GM or 940GML chipset according to
specs) after an upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04. A workaround I've found is
entering the GRUB menu manually and booting with options "quiet splash"
removed.

Also worth note is that I have removed those options by default by
editing /etc/default/grub and running update-grub. But the workaround
only seems to be effective by manually entering the GRUB menu.

This issue affects me as well. I have a ThinkPad T410. Though I haven't tried
the successive sleep-wakeup experiment, I suspect the crash occurs as described
by comment #18 above.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1274746] Re: False GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0a000001 IPEHR: 0x0b140001

2014-02-23 Thread Jake McGregor
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1274779 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1274779

Although it might be unrelated, I've noticed that Ubuntu One keeps
pausing for some reason, and failing to load correctly. Again, probably
not relevant to this, but it might be.

** Description changed:

  Hi, everyone!
  Sorry for disturbance.
I run Ubuntu 13.10 64, Lenovo Ideapad G580 Nvidia Hybrid Graphic card.
I accidentally found that using LibreOffice 4.1.2.3 410m0(Build:3) for
several minutes logs out Ubuntu randomly.
Is there a way to avoid it?
  Thank you for your attention.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1228506] Re: [prime] unsynchronised rendering on secondary displays

2013-12-17 Thread Jake Whiteley
Also experiencing this issue on a W530 running Fedora 18 with 3.11.10.
My second monitor is connected via the Lenovo dock connector. The bug
does not appear if the display adapter is switched to Discrete mode in
BIOS. I have also experienced this bug on a projector connected via VGA.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781956] [NEW] Compiz tweaking crashed new gui

2011-05-12 Thread Jake McGregor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Just after a network upgrade from 10.10, the GUI worked fine, at least
until I changed a few settings that made the menu bars disappear and now
after several reboots it still fails to load the menu bars. The classic
gui works fine but I like the new one is set up, and hopefully it can be
restored.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665546] Re: Drop and sub menus don't always show up

2010-12-15 Thread Jake Shorelan
I attached apport info above. I too am experiencing this problem.
Often a menu will highlight when I click on it, but the contents will
not appear. I can click several times with no effect. Sometimes
adjacent menus also will not show up, but it seems inconsistent. To get
the menu to appear, I usually click elsewhere on the screen (e.g. the
desktop background) and then go back to the menu and try opening it
again.

Note that I am NOT running an nVidia driver. The hardware driver listed
under the "Additional Drivers" system admin menu is "ATI/AMD proprietary
FGLRX graphics driver." I'm sure the apport info has more specific
details.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 640059] Re: Maverick Beta update changed screen resolution

2010-09-16 Thread Jake LeMaster
I'm also getting this issue. (1440x900 monitor being incorrectly given
1280x1024 resolution). I filed LP: #638103 as I thought it was a gdm
problem, since I started getting the issue after upgrading gdm a couple
days ago.

gdm (2.30.5-0ubuntu4) maverick; urgency=low

  * debian/gdm.upstart: Do not already fire on a framebuffer device. When a
real DRM driver gets loaded later on, X will be started too early to catch
it. This should go a long way towards fixing LP: #615549
 -- Martin PittMon, 13 Sep 2010 15:23:24 +0200

Of course, I don't really know for sure.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 569879] Re: Non-admin user logout fails on Lucid

2010-05-12 Thread Jake Cobb
I sometimes experience a similar problem, although I have an nVidia
graphics card. The stack in the attached KDM log appears close, but not
exactly the same, as the one posted in #5.

For me, this seems to be proceeded by my up key no longer working in
KDE. If I then logout, I get a blank black screen and cannot do
anything locally (no VT switching, etc). I don't get anything displayed
the way others have described (messages, cursors, etc). However, I can
SSH in and restart KDM to restore it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 553406] Re: Unexpected logout with GLib errors

2010-07-08 Thread Jake Shorelan
This seems to happen when the flashplayer plugin ('/var/lib/flashplugin-
installer/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so' from 'flashplugin-installer') is
used. Most flash games on FaceBook cause the crash. So this may be a
problem with Adobe's plugin BUT no simple user program should cause X to
crash completely either, so there's obviously some kind of problem with
an X package or the nVidia drivers as well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 432814] Re: Touchpad: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty

2010-08-22 Thread Jake LeMaster
Thanks for the PPA. It let me fix GNOME's/Ubuntu's bad/idiosyncratic
touchpad defaults. I couldn't understand why in the world double-tapping
was resulting in a right-click when I started using Ubuntu on my
netbook. It's a real pain. Hopefully this will be fixed in 10.10.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 185311] Re: hardy, locking assertion failure, xorg/libsdl

2009-07-14 Thread Jake Cobb
I just started having this problem in hardy (manifested by Java) after
an update today (2009-07-14). The sed/XINERAMA workaround suggested by
others earlier worked for now.

Here are the packages I upgraded, it began immediately afterward:

2009-07-14 09:12:52 upgrade libdbus-1-3 1.1.20-1ubuntu3.2 1.1.20-1ubuntu3.3
2009-07-14 09:12:52 upgrade dbus 1.1.20-1ubuntu3.2 1.1.20-1ubuntu3.3
2009-07-14 09:12:52 upgrade dbus-x11 1.1.20-1ubuntu3.2 1.1.20-1ubuntu3.3
2009-07-14 09:12:52 upgrade libtiff4 3.8.2-7ubuntu3.2 3.8.2-7ubuntu3.4
2009-07-14 09:12:52 upgrade libtiff-tools 3.8.2-7ubuntu3.2 3.8.2-7ubuntu3.4

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 553406] [NEW] Unexpected logout with GLib errors

2010-04-01 Thread Jake Shorelan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I was unexpectedly logged out of X/Gnome when performing normal web
browsing operations. I was returned to the normal GDM login screen.
There were no suspicious messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log or
/var/log/messages, but /var/log/syslog (attached) contained some strange
GLib errors:

Apr 1 08:56:37 silvia gdm-simple-slave[22077]: WARNING: Unable to load file
'/etc/gdm/custom.conf': No such file or directory
