[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2060354] Re: Segfault in 2:21.1.4-2ubuntu1.7-22.04.9

2024-04-06 Thread Javier Noval
In my case (Android Studio 2023.2.1, also based on IntelliJ, on a fully-
updated Jammy), with the editor antialiasing set to "grayscale", the
crash is 100% reproducible (same stacktrace) as soon as any file is
opened. The default setting, "subpixel", doesn't seem to cause any
issues.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1765223] Re: random distorted parts on screen

2018-11-07 Thread Javier
It is quite impossible to take a screenshot of such issues. It is quite
random.

I had this issue on Ubuntu 16.04, and I decided to use other Intel driver,
which solves the issue.

Currently, I am using Ubuntu 18.04 with the built-in VGA drivers and it's
working fine.

Thanks,
Javier.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1575878] [NEW] Xorg freeze when see videos or animation 16.04

2016-04-27 Thread Javier Antonio Nisa Avila
Public bug reported:

When videos are played the system randomly freezes to start playing the
video, or when it takes a few minutes. It also happens with animations
webs. This happened with the previous kernel of 15.10 and with the
current kernel of 16.04. The bios is the latest version and use public
graphics drivers.

If I do not watch videos or animations I can work full days without
freezing.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 980519] Re: Random log off in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

2013-01-08 Thread Javier Schwersensky
Thank you to those who filed the bug report and those who worked on a
solution. My NVIDIA driver was stable until I made a change in the xorg
file (to use two screens). Then the random logouts began with certain
applications only (Skype and VirtualBox most notably). The solution
proposed here seem to have fixed the issue. I am running 12.04 LTS
64-bit, ASUS laptop with NVIDIA video card, cinnamon desktop.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1020393] Re: [i945gm] GPU lockup EIR: 0x00000010 PGTBL_ER: 0x00000102

2012-10-21 Thread Javier
I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same HW (Macbook 2,1).
It happened with 12.04 and it's happening now with 12.10. This messages
go haywire after trying to hibernate the system, which is always
unsuccessful.

So far I didn't experience any problems other than some occasional
instability and the fact that hibernation is not possible.

Hi Bryce,
Upgrading to Oneiric solved the problem. In two weeks since upgrading I have
not experienced any Xorg restart issues.

You may close the bug, or I'll do it sometime tomorrow.

Hey javisw,

You filed this bug report against natty, but I see it's still open and
doesn't appear to have much activity recently.  So, now that oneiric
is released and stable, this may be a good point for you to upgrade
and re-test if this issue is still present there.

If it's solved in the new release and you think it's worth backporting
the fix, please indicate that.  Or if having the fix in the new release
is good enough, feel free to close out the bug (or let us know and we'll
 close it.)

If it's not solved, leave the bug report open.  I can't promise we'll
get to it (we get way more bugs filed than we can usually get to), but
your testing and feedback can help out if and when we do.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 315456] Re: Record extension not sending events

2011-09-16 Thread Francisco Javier P.L.
I'm running Lucid, xserver-common [ 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.6 ], I've checked
the changelog in debian/ and even when it looks fixed (at least in the
log), I still have the same errors.

I'm attaching a source file to reproduce it, it fails always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Compile a test program attached.
2.Run test program.
3.
Actual Results:

After I ran the test program, error messages was returned.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 783002] Re: Auto logoff ubuntu 11.04

2011-08-25 Thread Javier Schwersensky
I have done two things and the bug seems to have gone away (but I have to do
some more testing in the next few days). I updated to a newer Kernel:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kernel-ppa/ppa
sudo apt-get update
I believe it is 2.6.39-1 generic. WARNING: This is more bleeding edge, so if
you don't know how to restore to the previous Kernel, don't try it. (During
booting, hold the shift key to get to the GRUB menu and choose booting with a
previous Kernel. That at least will give you your system back to then back down
to the previous kernel).

After doing that, I also updated my NVIDIA drivers using the following
repository:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update

If you are going to add x-swat to your sources, it is important to
install ppa-purge, also available in the repositories. YOU MUST
DOWNGRADE YOUR NVIDIA DRIVER BEFORE MOVING TO A DIFFERENT UBUNTU
VERSION, that is why you need ppa-purge.

With the newest Kernel and the newest NVIDIA driver (both installed two
days ago in my x64 Asus computer) so far I have not experienced any
crashes.

I hope this helps, but please USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically

2011-07-28 Thread Javier Cabello
I had the same problem with Fedora 12 linux running a laptop Acer Aspire
5100 (and occurs with fedora 14 and 15). The external USB mouse has the
same bug described here, while the touchpad does not. Since several
people have mentioned that they use Logitech wireless mice, I tested a
wired USB mouse ($1 from ebay). It works perfectly, so this may be
specific of those Logitech USB mice/wireless, have others noted this?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 657976] Re: [Intel GMA 945/950] Unity Interface Is Extremely Slow (Ubuntu Netbook 10.10)

2010-10-15 Thread Javier
I've tried the CLUTTER_VBLANK=none suggestion and I feel it might be
faster, but it could also be placebo effect. I should run some double
blind tests :-P

@Mikkel Kamstrup Erlandsen: At least in my case (Asus Eee PC 901) the
unity actions that interact with applications and workspaces (launching
programs, selecting them using the side panel buttons, the workspace
button, etc.) are pretty fast. On the other hand, anything related to
Unity menus (main menu, application menu, pop-up menus, search as you
type...) is always somewhere between slow and painfully slow.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462436] Re: Desktop background becomes black when desktop effects are enabled on GNOME and KDE

2009-12-12 Thread Javier Jardón
** Description changed:

I have a computer with 1 GB RAM, 200 GB hard drive and an ATI Radeon
  9200 Pro video card.

Desktop effects worked on previous versions of Ubuntu and also on Mandriva
Linux on this computer
when my video card is using the open source 'ati' driver.

I downloaded and burned the Ubuntu 9.10 RC desktop livecd ISO to a CD.

I booted my computer from the CD.

When it got to the desktop, the desktop background was black.

However, although the background was stayed black, the desktop effects were
working (for eg, when I switched virtual desktops the
  virtual desktop switching effect worked).

I changed the wallpaper but the background still remained black.

When I disabled desktop effects, the background became normal and showed
  the proper background.

I went to SystemAdministration and clicked the Hardware Drivers tool.

The Hardware Drivers tool said that no proprietary drivers were being
  used.

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 RC to my hard disk.

After installing it and rebooting from the hard disk, the problem was
  still there.

I installed kubuntu-desktop, logged out of GNOME and logged into KDE.

When I logged into KDE KDE's desktop effects were not enabled.

I went to KDE's system settings tool and clicked display and clicked
  enable desktop effects.

  The background became black.

I disabled KDE's desktop effects and the background became normal.

I installed all the available updates for my system and rebooted, but
after rebooting the problem was still there on both GNOME and KDE.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 444139] Re: (Needs KMS) Background and full screen apps don't show up when Normal Visual Effects on (Radeon 7500)

2009-10-14 Thread Javier Rivera
_dan_: Yes I see. But you didn't state your graphic card and the bug was
hickjacked by people with ATI cards and this bug. Most of the info there
is Ati-related, and every comment but yours look related to this problem
with the ati drivers.

Sorry but it seems like the ati problem is way more common than yours,
and we (ati-users) steal you bug away. I still believe that you should
open another one. Please note clear in the new bug description your
video card.

_dan_ this bug is *ati* specific, and it doesn't affect small windows.
It's solved with a workaround for the radeon drivers, so your nvidia bug
is a different one.

Turning KMS on solved it for me.

_dan_ those bugs where ati specific before you commented on then. You
need to search or open a nvidia related bug.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 438435] Re: System Crash: VGA-1: EDID invalid.

2009-09-30 Thread Javier Barroso
I'm too affected by https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22936

I tried Option SwapbuffersWait true, but it didn't work for me.

I tried 2.9 version from ppa, but happened again :(
[drm:edid_is_valid] *ERROR* Raw EDID:
3aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa

...

If I try start without any xorg.conf my screen will blink and I have
to press CNTRL-ALT-SUPR. X won't start.

I can read then, vt: argh driver_data _became_ NULL from my console

If I try running with VESA, it tell about different ABI versions from
xserver-xorg and xserver-xorg-video-vesa , is it another bug ?

Thanks

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 438435] [NEW] System Crash: VGA-1: EDID invalid.

2009-09-28 Thread Javier Barroso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

After upgrading to karmic, my system is unstable.

1. kernel 2.6.31 makes my resolution settings to 800x600, and after
login (I can't choose any major), I can't stay there 5 minutes. In
syslog this message is showed when all the system but mouse movement
crash (the mouse can move, but can't click anything). I have to use
sysrq to reboot the system (not ctrl-alt-f1 works):

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 438435] Re: System Crash: VGA-1: EDID invalid.

2009-09-28 Thread Javier Barroso
Please, note that where xorg.conf you can read 'vesa' it was 'intel'
when Xorg started. (I wanted to probe later, but it didn't work (again
intermitent screen, after closing session))
