[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1515784] Re: UHD resolution not found when logging in, can select after login

2015-11-26 Thread Johan Van de Wauw
The problem still occurs when using a kernel from vivid (3.19.0-35).

If I login, the resolution is not correct. If I fix the resolution
everything is fine until I logout (no need to reboot). If I login again,
the resolution is bad again.

The available resolutions seem to change from time to time. Sometimes after
login I get only 1920x1080 when doing a login, but it drops back to 1024x768 as
well, sometimes rescaling to 1920x1080 if I wait a bit longer (the error messag
already appeared at that time).
After logging in and waiting approximately 20 seconds I can go to display
options and reset my display to the full resolution( 3840x2160).

Updating the BIOS does not solve the problem.
Output: of sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Note that this is a regression when updating from utopic to wily.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1515784] [NEW] UHD resolution not found when logging in, can select after login

2015-11-12 Thread Johan Van de Wauw
Public bug reported:

Hi,

After updating from vivid to wily I noticed my screen no longer boots in
UHD resolution. I can set the resolution during the session, but on next
login it returns back to full hd. This is a regression from vivid, where
the resolution worked without problem.

This happens with different window managers.

In cinnamon I get an additional error, which is solved by removing
.config/monitors.xml

none of the selected modes were compatible with the possible modes:

I'm willing to invest some time in trying to find a solution.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 538691] Re: no versioned library symlinks provided for libGL

2010-03-30 Thread Johan Van de Wauw
The automatic reply was not to the point.
If I look to the debian packages, the versioned library is installed under
/usr/lib. This is not the case in ubuntu lucid. There only libGL.so is
installed, not libGL.so.1
compare eg:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/i386/libgl1-mesa-swx11/filelist
or
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/amd64/libgl1-mesa-swx11/filelist
and
http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/amd64/libgl1-mesa-swx11/filelist

even the package description is: On Linux, this library is also known as libGL
or **libGL.so.1**.
Many programs (eg Google Earth) expect this version in /usr/lib

** Tags removed: needs-lspci-vvnn needs-xorglog

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: ia32-libs
-
- The only link provided under /usr/lib32 is:
- /usr/lib32/libGL.so
- I think /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1 and .1.2 should also be provided under
/usr/lib32 (and not only under /usr/lib32/mesa).
+ In the current lucid package libGL.so.1 is no longer installed under /usr/lib
+ Many programs are built against this versioned library, and the versioned
library is available in debian and in ubuntu karmic.

** Summary changed:

- no versioned library symlinks provided for libGL

2009-07-10 Thread Johan Van de Wauw
While checking the X/intel/kms wiki page, I noticed someone else had similar
problems.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/KernelModeSetting
gotunandan: https://launchpad.net/~gotunandan

Works fine with modprobe.d method.
When using vga=xxx in kernal boot options, Ctrl+Alt+F[1-6] does not switch to
the command line interface, instead shows a frozen GUI but mouse pointer
disappears. But Ctrl+Alt+F7, gets back the GUI normally. Doing this multiple
times restarts X

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 382719] Re: [KMS][intel 82Q35]: cannot switch to virtual terminals

2009-06-03 Thread Johan Van de Wauw
