[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2049697] [NEW] GPU not being detected when I try to run any game
Public bug reported: I ran ran apport-bug xorg and it took me here. Trying to figure out an issue where any time I open a game, it crashes and gives the error message "GPU not detected". From everything I've tried it seems like the computer has no problem detecting the GPU and it seems to be working fine, but games are still not working. Any help is appreciated! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1574667] Re: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner
I have this problem on a Dell XPS 15 laptop touchpad running Linux Mint 18.3 based upon Ubuntu 16.04. This actually defaults to libinput, and that's where I first encountered the issue. So I tried synaptic to see if it would go away (it did not), which led me to this bug. So for me it happens with both drivers, it's just worse under synaptic. With libinput, it doesn't jump as far across the screen. But it does jump, under the scenario described in #52 -- you're moving the mouse with one finger to where you want to click, and you click with the other finger. But at that moment the pointer jumps in the direction of the other pointer (for right-handed people clicking with their pointer finger, this is to the bottom left). Sadly, these are touchpads without dedicated buttons, but being used by users who are used to having and using dedicated buttons. In either case, it's quite frustrating. And it does not occur under windows, so it isn't a hardware-only issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574667 Title: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1574667/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247189] Re: [13.10] Ubuntu freezes completely when switching user
Dear all. I have the same problem after upgrading from 13.04. Only now I use ubuntu 13.10 GNOME running GDM. [Although I had the same problem when I tried unity with lightdm - History: I was so frustrated I tried Unity (32 64 bit) and now Gnome all with the same results.] Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 32-bit. NVIDIA Corporation GT218M (NVS 3100M/PCIe/SSE2) 3.8.0-34-generic GDM 3.8.4 I switch user. I have the new user session. I then alt-ctl-f7. I then have a frozen background-artwork-only graphic screen for the 1st user session. No alt-ctl-f1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and so on. I have not yet tested if I am able to ssh into the machine after it hangs. Please advise of any additional info or tasks needed. I am currently away on leave but shall be able to attend to instructions from you re this matter from 2nd last week Jan'14 onward. This really affects me allot as I have seperate business and home user id's and switched allot in 13.04. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247832] [NEW] Lightdm often fails to show greeter (mouse cursor briefly visibly) ubuntu 13.10
Public bug reported: On boot (or lightdm restart) often I don't get to see the greeter. Only after running 'sudo restart lightdm' a couple of time do I get to actually make it work. X starts (and the mouse cursor is briefly visible) but shuts down immediatly without an error in the logs. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1210397] Re: Xorg hang: (EE) [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed.
Came to this bug with same symptoms, Ubuntu 12.10 on Dell XPS M1330 with Intel graphics(Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller) - intermittently the screen would freeze, but usually I had control of the mouse still but couldn't click on anything, also couldn't CTL+ALT+F{1-6} to a shell - but I could SSH in and had full CLI access. I posted the errors from Xorg.0.log below. I think I have found a solution here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=168312 I added: Option AccelMethod EXA to the Display section in xorg.conf, and so far so good. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1088547] Re: External display is black after hot plug switching to it on Macbook Air 4, 2
I see these same symptoms on my macbook air 5,2. I've tried two different (24 and 23) Dell DVI monitors without success. For me, the external monitor usually goes red when I plug it in the second time. Sometimes this hangs the whole machine, sometimes not. In either case the only way to get the external monitor to work again is to reboot. I've tried the Xorg edgers PPA with no improvement to this problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
NVidia GEForce 610M and additional integrated Intel video card. Intermittent hard freezes on Ubuntu and Mint - no traces as to why in any log file anywhere. Tried fresh install of 12.04 with different hard drive. Worked perfectly until I installed nvidia-stable drivers from Ubuntu repository - hard froze within minutes. Installed nouveau drivers and removed all traces of nvidia drivers. NOTE: I had to remove the nvidia drivers in order to make my system stable. Other posts had said that was not necessary - for me it was. One nouveau drivers were active. I issued the following: ~$ sudo apt-get --purge remove nvidia-common nvidia-current nvidia-settings ~$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop ubuntu-desktop was a dependency of nvidia-common and therefore removed with the purge - that's why the install of ubuntu-desktop afterwards. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 753144] Re: focused, or maximized windows blank
I don't know if this is helpful/relevant/already mentioned, but this problem exists in KDE too. The only difference is that the windows are black instead of white. It happens in Kubuntu 11.04 and after a fresh install of 11.10 it still occurs. In Kubuntu the fix is easy and immediate. In System Setting - Desktop Effects - Advanced untick the Enable Direct Rendering option. My onboard Nvidia 'GeForce 6150SE nForce 430' works flawlessly (all effects, like blur, and no more empty windows) after that. I wanted to use Unity, but there is no equivalent option in CCSM as far as I know, and searching the Ubuntu Wiki/Google yielded confusing, mixed results. I am assuming the Kubuntu issue is the same as the Ubuntu issue since the problem is exactly the same - I have used both and the behavior is identical. So is it possible to disable direct rendering in Unity for us poor folk with older computers who do not have the option of upgrading or am I making a mistake in my logic? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/753144 Title: focused, or maximized windows blank To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/753144/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 725434] Re: Nvidia drivers lead to extra memory usage for each process using libGL
I got tired of nouveau freezing my desktop (at least I assume that's what it was, maybe it's just compiz itself) and downgraded libcairo2 to the maverick-updates version ( http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick- updates/libcairo2 ). It's been about an hour and my computer hasn't exploded yet. I'm using the proprietary Nvidia driver with an onboard 6150SE. I have 2gb RAM, and contrary to other opinions, it affected my system very noticeably and forced much swapping whereas none was needed before. Rounding out the expansion on the board is a single PCI Express x1 slot and two PCI slots, giving room for expansion if you need it. If the on-board uses x1, and the nic uses x1 (18-2) there should be x16 left for the x16 slot? -- PCIExpress 1.0 16x Port (nforce 630i) and 16x-Card 8600 GTS only synced at bus-type 4x https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/541749 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
