Still don't know what triggers the error. The last error log appeared just after I've unlocked the lightdm screen lock. I'm using two monitors: the one in my laptop and an external one (FullHD resolution) plugged through HDMI, nothing unusual. Ok, I don't know exactly what triggers this error... I think that Chrome showing Tweetdeck or some big flashing-ad does it, because the screen flickers/breaks a lot (and in Ubuntu 14.04 didn't)... anyway, now I've installed 4.7.0-040700rc5-generic kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com /~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.7-rc5-yakkety/ and I'll report if I have this error in a week of work. I've had 7 errors like this in 4 days of regular work, so I'll come back with news in a week or so. I've upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04, and I'm sure that this issue wasn't there. I'm using an updated Ubuntu 11.10 installation (Nvidia drivers 280.13 version) and I was suffering this bug until I downgraded the video card shared memory from 256 MB to 128 MB, just like Eslam said. It seems a shared memory issue, with 256 MB configured every animation stop and goes; but with 128 MB, everything works fine. @Albert, I uninstalled the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package and I still see the record extension being loaded in the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file Could you post some way to prevent that extension being loaded and test if X still crashes?
