[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1574667] Re: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner

2020-02-26 Thread Mauricio Chavarriaga
Thanks Juan! #32 fixed the issue for me. ASUS VivoBook S14 (S430F)
running Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS. This issue was driving me crazy, it was
impossible (and quite dangerous) trying to work while fighting the
pointer.

2017-05-06 Thread Mauricio Maluff Masi
Actually I got tired of this and got a new monitor that supports the DP
port on my laptop. I no longer have the old one, so I can't test this any
further. I suppose that means it can be closed?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573959] Re: On-screen text disappears after suspend

2017-03-02 Thread Mauricio Matamoros
@longwave Thanks for the tip, as non-linux expert there is yet much
to learn. Il try installing

linux-generic-hwe-16.04

and hopefully it will never ever happen again. My question would be
why the 4.X|X>4 Kernel is not part of a regular update for 16.04, but
thats maybe out of the scope of this discussion.

Cheers!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573959] Re: On-screen text disappears after suspend

2017-03-01 Thread Mauricio Matamoros
Just for the record

My Dell Latitude E7440 (Intel graphics card only) experiences the same
problem with Xubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus (issue was not present in
Xubuntu 12.04, and I didn't tried intermediate versions) I tried several
workarounds but none seems to work this far.

I updated to Kernell 4.8.0-29-generic with

# apt-get install linux-image-4.8.0-29-generic

That was the latest update available in the repo at the date. It
installed successfully. After reboot the Xorg process was using >80% CPU
and the computer was even more sluggish than a Windows Vista running in
an Intel 80386 (5 seconds delay for a typed char to appear on screen in
console).

There is no need to be an Ubuntu expert to conclude that just updating
the Kernel is not enough to solve the problem. Maybe I'm missing some
extra configuration or also the X-Server/lightdm daemon must be updated
accordingly. Also I'm differentiating Xubuntu from legacy Ubuntu because
it affects Xfce and Unity.

Cheers!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1655828] Re: Mouse flickers and disappears on primary monitor when additional monitor is connected

2017-02-12 Thread Mauricio Maluff Masi
1. I bought a new monitor and have been using it via the mini-DP port for the
past week, and have not noticed the flickering.
2. I'm not sure what the second question is referring to. If it's about post
#13: The install script didn't work in 17.04, so I had to make some changes and
compile it manually. It turns out the latest version of the evdi module already
incorporates the changes I made, but the released version included with the
DisplayLink installer does not.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1655828] Re: Mouse flickers and disappears on primary monitor when additional monitor is connected

2017-01-19 Thread Mauricio Maluff Masi
Success (sort of)! I pulled up the evdi source, commented out the
references to dirty_info_property from evdi_connector.c, and the
reference to drm_mode_create_dirty_info_property in evdi_modeset.c. I
compiled the whole driver manually, and I was able to install it
successfully in 17.04.

I can still see the flickering, though it does seem slightly less
pronounced than usual. I haven't used it very heavily, but I can
definitely see the flickering.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1655828] Re: Mouse flickers and disappears on primary monitor when additional monitor is connected

2017-01-19 Thread Mauricio Maluff Masi
All right, I tried to install the latest version of DisplayLink, but it
failed. I'm attaching the make.log.

It seems to have been caused by this patch:
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/intel-gfx/2016-August/103278.html

Which removed the dirty_info_property from drm_mode_config.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1655828] Re: Mouse flickers and disappears on primary monitor when additional monitor is connected

2017-01-17 Thread Mauricio Maluff Masi
That's really all I could make out from it, sorry. I'm attaching a
picture in case you can see something I can't. The receipt was not very
helpful, it just says something generic like "Dell Adapter USB 3.0."

I did find the Dell part number: 470-ABHH

Here's a link to the current listing on their website:
http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-adapter-usb-3-0-to-hdmi-vga-
ethernet-usb-2-0/apd/470-abhh/handhelds-tablet-pcs

They give this code for the Manufacturer part: H5G60

But that's as far as I could make it.

I'll try the current version of Ubuntu tomorrow, as promised.

2017-01-12 Thread Mauricio Maluff Masi
1. Yes, to me personally at least since 16.04. I can't positively remember if
it was happening in 14.04, but I *think* it was.
2. Acer G236HL LCD monitor connected via VGA.
3. 1.2.65, the latest version.
4. I'll have to test that over the weekend. I should have a chance by 1/18 at
the latest.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1655828] [NEW] Mouse flickers and disappears on primary monitor when additional monitor is connected

2017-01-11 Thread Mauricio Maluff Masi
Public bug reported:

Any time I connect an additional monitor via my Displaylink adapter, the
mouse flickers and disappears in the primary monitor. It displays
perfectly on the additional monitor. It also displays perfectly after
the additional monitor is disconnected.

I see that there are a number of similar bug reports:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1645891
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1629300
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1278223
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1613001

I'd be willing to help track it down.

2011-11-23 Thread Mauricio Pretto
The only way to make mine work was doing a fresh install, full update,
not installing the proprietary ADM drivers and using the open source
one, then it worked, I'm using two screens no problem, never tried to
switch to the proprietary again because if I do so I have to reinstall
everything to make it back working again

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes

2010-09-03 Thread Mauricio
Just an update.

The kernel options that Igor recommended seems to work fine for me
- noacpi noapm
- nohz=off
- acpi_skip_timer_override

So far I've just past the 24H uptime w/out any X server issues..
(knocking on wood)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes

2010-09-02 Thread Mauricio
Thanks Igor and Peter, those are indeed very surprising news, I was just
few seconds to reboot and start the fedora install.I guess I was very
hot headed yesterday, (it's not fun when you have to kill your working
session many times a day).

I haven't tried the kernel options you mention Igor, I'll give them a
try right now. Then I'll check on an old kernel.

Everybody seems to compliment PCLinuxOS, I might install it side by
side.

One important thing to notice, I'm in a multi screen environment, and
seems to me that this bug is more prone to happen when I click on an
application let's say screen one, and while that application opens
(whatever I clicked it) if I move my mouse very hard to another screen
trying to reach another application it crashes. I'll try to replicate,
If happen to found a way to make it crash (non-randomly) I guess we've
reach a milestone here guys

Cheers

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes

2010-09-01 Thread Mauricio
I can confirm the same issue here after upgrade from 9.04 (x86_64,
gnome, 100% CPU utilization, I've remove all the eye-candy effects)

I usually can kill -9 ssh'ing from another machine, and that, at least
takes me to the login screen.

One really interesting thing I noticed today was that after removing
openjdk and having sun-jdk (due to another issue) as my default seems to
really really reduce the CPU usage.

Are you guys using any open-jdk java software the moment the freeze
happen?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 317094] Re: evtouch meta bug to collect lshal info

2009-06-05 Thread Mauricio Vieira
I have a LG C1 Tablet and the touch screen not works... :(

I can't find the entries of my touchscreen in the file
evtouch_hal.out, generate by the command lshal.

My file evtouch_hal.out can be downloaded in
http://200.131.37.236/temp/evtouch_hal.out

** Description changed:

- This bug is used to collect the lshal info people are asked to submit when
evtouch calibration fails.
- Formerly this collection was done via the ubuntu-mobile mailing list, which
is a subscription only list and the traffic of submissions from unsunscribed
people got to much of a maintenance burden for the list admins.
+ I have a LG C1 Tablet and the touch screen not works... :(

- All evtouch lshal output should be collected as attachemnts to this bug now.
- If people have assembled .fdi files from this data they should be collected
here as well, so they can be included in the package.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 351532] Re: [Jaunty] X quits with code 0177 when moving windows or scrolling using tdfx video driver

2009-06-03 Thread Mauricio
Hello.
I solved this issue performing a downgrade of the jaunty's drivers, I installed
the intrepid's xserver-xorg packages.
I changed the repositories of Jaunty by the repositories of Intrepid. Then I
removed the xserver-xorg, xserver-xorg-core, xserver-xorg-video-tdfx and
related packages with apt-get.
After this, I did sudo apt-get clean and I installed again these packages from
the intrepid and all worked ok.

This is the tdfx package :

aptitude show xserver-xorg-video-tdfx
Paquete: xserver-xorg-video-tdfx
Estado: instalado
Instalado automáticamente: sí
Versión: 1:1.4.0-1build2
Prioridad: opcional
Sección: x11
Desarrollador: Ubuntu Core Developers ubuntu-devel-disc...@lists.ubuntu.com
Tamaño sin comprimir: 164k
Depende de: libc6 (= 2.1.3), xserver-xorg-core (= 2:1.4.99.906-2ubuntu2)
Tiene conflictos con: xserver-xorg-driver-tdfx
Reemplaza: xserver-xorg ( 6.8.2-35), xserver-xorg-driver-tdfx
Proporciona: xserver-xorg-video-4
Descripción: X.Org X server -- tdfx display driver
This package provides the driver for 3dfx Voodoo video cards and their
 derivatives.

I also retained this packages for avoiding further updates when I returned to
the repositories of Jaunty. Until now all worked ok and I have not found still
any issue.
Greetings.
