[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 729448] Re: [gm45] GPU lockup (ESR: 0x00000001 IPEHR: 0x11230000)

2011-03-23 Thread Nerdopolis
Hi.

I did a dist-upgrade yesterday, and it included some xorg packages.

can you give a few days to see if I get any hangs or crashes? It happens
very randomly.

I'll report my results then.

Thanks.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 663033] Re: KDE RANDR KCM does not support two separate displays, most of the time

2011-03-05 Thread Nerdopolis
I deleted the config file for the display kcm, and it can enable two
screens. The config file must have had problems in it.

2011-03-04 Thread Nerdopolis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I noticed that X was locking up alot, and resetting since I upgraded
Natty with the 2.6.38 kernel, and latest Xorg.

This is the first time where X got weird, but I was still able to use
the system with alot of weirdness to report this bug.

2010-11-14 Thread Nerdopolis
** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
+ It seems to be the multiple monitors KCM for KDE that is not working for

+ with an older NVIDIA card.

- It seems that the modesetted version of the i915 driver does not support

- try in systemsettings. However in the non modesetted version it works
- fine.
-
- I am trying this with the LVDS display, and a VGA cable monitor. (I
- have no displayport on this laptop, so I can't test the display port
- its showing.)
+ I tried ARANDR on my box with the i915 driver, and it was able to set an
+ expanded desktop.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 592913] [NEW] Radeon Mobility U1 modeseting drivers causes maverick kernel panic

2010-06-11 Thread Nerdopolis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

The new Modesetting drivers in 2.6.35 causes a kernel panic on my Radeon
Mobilty U1 card, (IGP 320M) upon every startup.

After the spinning mouse cursor appears, and before the KDM screen shows up the
background, and login prompt, the spinning mouse cursor stops, and the CPU fan
kicks up, and does not respond to capslock, or alt-sysrq-b.

The non mode setting drivers do not cause a kernel panic. (starting the
kernel with nomodeset)

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Update: I tried to run the Beta live cd without the nomodeset argument,
and this time the graphics worked anyway.

I tried running apport-collect 512010, and it gives me a dialog No
additional information collected This is off the Lucid beta live CD.

Update: I tried to give the kernel argument nomodeset on a Lucid live
CD, and the display loaded fine. (it worked without me supplying the
xforcevesa argument)

Apport doesn't seem to be working for me (It dumps some python errors
when I try to submit it). Is there another way for me to attach the
info?
