blank instead of suspend.
The bug is still present!

I'll attach the requested files

Is it possible to run that command from the console or do I need a
gui? That's because right after the bug has occurred I can access the
console, but I have to restart X in order to have a working gui

It's usually best to collect it from right after the bug has occurred.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 524830] Re: problems triggered when I open the laptop lid

2010-06-07 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Well, as reported in the upstream bug, they tend to think that the
cause is in xorg: after hitting any keyboard key another randr event
is fired, so displays get reconfigured and I see the lag + flicker.

2010-03-23 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Robert, the patch in the commit you linked is very simple:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-lucid.git;a=commitdiff_plain;h=7b56712ff524ee55e38afaee3954d125f56a6070;hp=104e76612666b063513cb7e12423d2c7117bfcc4

Can someone build a kernel without that patch applied, so I can test
if it works?
I currently have only 200MB free, so I'm unable to compile the kernel.

When I resume the backlight is set to 0 (it is not switched off, 0 is
the lowest value which let me see everything in the screen) and I can
higher it using the special key FN+RIGHT_ARROW.

If you only want to make double taps easier you don't have to change the
value of SingleTapTimeout (as the name also suggests). you can change
the value in the mouse configuration named double click timeout which
is definitely not affected by SingleTapTimeout

Well, why it is not automatically added by apport in the description?
it could be found more quickly!

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 420600] Re: xorg eats up all my CPU

2009-08-29 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
I'm afraid I was wrong. It's suddenly in again, without installing the
new intel driver.
CPU is at 70% now (gnome-system-monitor 55%, xorg 10% + other processes)

I can't understand what I did to trigger the bug :(

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 420600] Re: xorg uses 20% CPU since 2.8.1 update

2009-08-29 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
I'm running it to see the cpu consumption.

Anyway after lost of reboots and a change the bug is vanished:
- uninstalled virtualbox 3 (deb from the site)
- removed the compiled kernel modules

This could be the problem, but I can't explain to myself why this
happened from the live cd too.

What I'll do now is to download todays daily live cd and test on it.

I'm with 2.8.1 and I don't have the problem.
So it must be triggered by another thing.
Close?

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 420600] Re: xorg eats up all my CPU

2009-08-28 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Thanks for answering. My card is intel x4500hd and my xorg.conf is the
default one (I'm not on linux now)

What's interesting is that even the live session from the daily live
cd has the same problem, while alpha 4 has not.
Another interesting thing is that xorg is not the only process which
eats cpu, but almost every process (with a non trivial logic of
course) are using lots of cpu.

What I'm doing now is this: test yesterday daily live cd and see if it
works, then I will post the packages that ubuntu wants to upgrade.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 382159] Re: [g45] (Needs kernel 2.6.31-rc1) Xorg freeze after resume (UXA bug) (KMS bug)

2.6.31-1 is now installed by default. Though I cannot boot it (the
screen remains switched off immediately after selecting the kernel), so
I can't tell if the intel gm45 bug is fixed

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 383973] Re: [GM45] system frozen after a period of inactivity

2009-06-22 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
xset causes the crash (well tested twice):
- sleep 10; xset dpms force off
- close the lid
- go to sleep
- wake up
- open the lid
everything black!

** Description changed:

- This is a karmic issue of kernel 2.6.30-8 only (not 2.6.30-7, I tested it now)
- My system freezes after a period of inactivity, after the screen is blanked I
cannot recover it.
+ My system freezes after a period of inactivity, after the screen is
+ blanked I cannot recover it.

in the intel driver.

I left the pc on for 30 minutes. Now it's not possible to recover it.
