OK, I am still with Ubuntu18.04, installed xubuntu-desktop package, and it solved all bugs. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1796915] Re: Volume notification popup resizes the full screen application
** Description changed: When I playing a game (Steam, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive), and touch multimedia volume controls on keyboard (mute, volume up, volume down), notification popups appears, but when popups is being showed, the game's full screen makes a bit smaller at the same time showing Ubuntu's panel and dock (showing their spaces, but not drawing them, just void spaces), when notification volume popup hides back, full screen restores. The problem shown only when volume notification popup is showing. Steam game called Broforce (full screen)(this game has Unity3d engine), when I change volume, frequently it hangs the game (just before showing notification popup), and whole computer (music still plays), having to restart the PC, because it doesn't respond to Alt+f4, and sometimes doesn't respond to Alt+Tab. I had hangs problems with that game in KDE5/Plasma, but I never had problems in Xfce4. + + + UPDATE 1- + Now, I put the dock at bottom of the screen (I did not activate autohide), and I don't get dock space showing problem in full screen anymore (top/upside panel still remains showing void space in full screen), so getting the dock at the botton fixes dock showing void panel in full screen applications. Now when I change volume/mute, and while volume notification is showing, I see only void panel space in full screen applications. And when I receive Telegram notifications, happens the same as with volume notifications. Really annoying. + -- ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-36.39-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-36-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.4 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Tue Oct 9 17:17:35 2018 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: bionic DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: virtualbox, 5.2.10, 4.15.0-36-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: I just need to know a workaround GraphicsCard: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 770] [10de:1184] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1253068] Re: Constant GPU Lock-ups with Ubuntu 14.04 13.04 and 13.10
Luis's fried graphics card might have been a red herring. I am getting what appears to be the same problem; GPU lockup - switching to software fbcon on an Asus P4C800 Deluxe motherboard with XFX GF 7600 GS graphics card. I am getting this problem with Ubuntu 14.04 Desktop LTS in a very easy- to-reproduce way: Boot normally, then just wait: about 8 minutes after boot completes, the time display stops incrementing. When I switch to the text console (CTL-ALT-F1), it reports GPU lockup - switching to software fbcon before the login prompt. A COUPLE OF WORKAROUNDS: I discovered a temporary work-around, too: if I enter the text console via CTL-ALT-F1 immediately after the desktop comes up and then return to the desktop via CTL-ALT-F7, then I don't encounter the lock-up. Another work-around for my system: the problem went away after installing generic i386 kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v4.1-rc1-vivid/ I believe this to be related to another issue with a crash in the nouveau driver and the exact same work-arounds that I described when I filed the problem report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1449299 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1253068 Title: Constant GPU Lock-ups with Ubuntu 14.04 13.04 and 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1253068/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I can consistently revive the second display by unplugging it, going to stand by, resuming the laptop, and finally plugging the display again. It works and I can switch between different modes even through setting, but at some point if I open Displays settings it gets disabled as described above. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1386834 Title: Second display stops working on repeated detection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1386834/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1386834] [NEW] Second display stops working on repeated detection
Public bug reported: The first time a secondary display/projector is connected to my laptop, it is detected and works in mirrored mode. However, once I open System Settings Displays, the seconday display gets disabled. Loging out and rebooting doesn't solve the problem. At least not right away. A few reboots later secondary display starts working again. Occasioally I'm able to use Fn+F4 to switch between different modes (mirrored, extended), but it usually doesn't last long. As soon as System Settings is activated, the secondary display is disable and no longer detected. Additional clues: 1) If I leave a display plugged in and reboot, it is activated on login screen, but shuts off as soon as I login. Pressing 'Detect Displays' button is Displays settings does not bring it back. 2) Every time I open System Settings (even without external displayed plugged in) there is a short lag and even the moust stops moving for about a second. The following shows up in the log: Oct 28 11:34:12 hostname kernel: [ 649.193034] [drm] probing gen 2 caps for device 8086:9c18 = 5323c42/0 Oct 28 11:34:12 hostname kernel: [ 649.193038] [drm] PCIE gen 2 link speeds already enabled Oct 28 11:34:12 hostname kernel: [ 649.197195] [drm] PCIE GART of 1024M enabled (table at 0x00276000). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 748080] Re: ATI card fan is always on with opensource radeon driver
When i use opensource driver for ATI card - notebook fan always spinning and themperature of outgoing from fan air is very high, even when I set /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile to low and cpu mode to powersave. With proprietary drivers (fglrx) I set video card performance to ondemand (I forgot the exact name of this mode in ATI control center) and cpu mode to ondemand, and notebook isn`t hot, fans not spinning (if I not start flash, games or some similar app with high cpu load). So with fglrx I can use notebook from battery 1,5-2 hours and it`s not hot, but with opensource driver battery of notebook is down in 50 minutes, fan is olways on, it noise is loud, and notebook is very hot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/748080 Title: ATI card fan is always on with opensource radeon driver ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

If I first boot it and then plug into the dock, the following happens: in the System-Preferences-Monitor I can see 3 panels available: laptop LCD and two Dell monitors(those are off). However, when I try to disable e4310's panel and enable two Dell monitors, all screens just go blank and system completely freezes up. No SSH/Cltr+alt+bkspc/Cltr+alt+F1 possible. Also that is not a kernel panic as no keyboard lights are blinking. However everything works if I only enable the laptop's LCD and only one of the Dell monitors. I Have also tried disabling the laptop panel prior to enabling the second Dell monitor via lxrandr It allows me to completely disable the built-in panel(leaving just one DVI Dell running) but then as soon as I enable the second Dell, eveything just freezes the same way. Also after hours of fighting with this, I discovered that the problem doesn't happen if I boot the liveCD. I'm able to enable both DVI monitors on it just fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 526352] [NEW] Xorg crash on press Enter
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg If I press Enter key after Xorg loading, it`s restart and back to gdm login screen. I tried turn off autologin, but nothing changes. Some times (8 boots of 10) i can`t view X desktop - only mouse cursor (it`s work when i move it) and text-mode cursor on top-left corner of black screen. Pressing keys out various symbols on screen (like in text-mode). If I switch to another console (Ctrl+Alt+F1) and back to tty7 I can view normal GUI desktop and I can work normally until not use Enter key. In all cases (every boot) after press Enter key Xorg crash and back to gdm login screen. After first crush Xorg works fine until next boot. P.S. Sorry, my English is very bad.
