[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1421808] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() from AbortServer() from FatalError() from xf86VTEnter()
Hello, Reproduction steps: 1. connect an external monitor (I connect mine through mini-DisplayPort, and I use only the external monitor, I do NOT use both the laptop screen and the external monitor) 2. with the external monitor connected, suspend the computer (I do it by running xfce4-session-logout --suspend, I have a shortcut for this) 3. with the laptop suspended, disconnect the monitor 4. open the laptop, you'll be shown the Xdm login screen 5. log in 6. Xorg will crash, it will restart, and you'll see again the Xdm login screen What works (how to avoid the crash) 1. connect an external monitor 2. before suspending the laptop, disconnect the external monitor 3. suspend the laptop 4. open the laptop, everything will be ok -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1421808 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() from AbortServer() from FatalError() from xf86VTEnter() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1421808/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1421808] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() from AbortServer() from FatalError() from xf86VTEnter()
Hello, For me this started to manifest in the last months; Xorg started crashing randomly after I resume from sleep. In the meantime, I've installed Xubuntu 18.04 from scratch (keeping only the /home partition) hoping that the problem would be gone. But it isn't. It seems to be related to the external monitor - ie when there is an external monitor plugged in and I suspend the computer, and when I resume there's only the laptop. But it doesn't always happen, so I don't have clear steps for reproducing. Hello, sorry for late reply. I forgot about this and never got notification of your replies. Anyway, it appears this has been reported in bug #1565846 and has nothing to do with BIOS, but is a known GNOME issue as mentioned in that bug. I can confirm that natty has a bigger time of switching keyboard layout. But this is not a bug but a suggestion to add ability to customize this timing because it's really annoing. I'm typing using all my 10 fingers like many of you and I can complete typing new word before keyboard switched to new language. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 523027] Re: DRM Framebuffer crash; invalid framebuffer id; Thinkpads with Intel X4500HD
I get the same error messages [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id in dmesg, but instead of crashing kdm doesn't let me login. If I try to login through kdm, it logs me out right away, and I get the following in my Xorg.log simultaneously with dmesg errors: Xorg.log:(EE) intel(0): Couldn't create pixmap for fbcon Xorg.log:(EE) intel(0): Couldn't create pixmap for fbcon If I use gdm instead of kdm, I can login fine, and X works as expected. ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) = xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) -- DRM Framebuffer crash; invalid framebuffer id; Thinkpads with Intel X4500HD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/523027 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 541511] Re: MASTER: [i855] GPU lockup (apport-crash)
I've searched for the information and this is what I've found (maybe it'll help): http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16974: Anyway the i855GM issues have just been radically fixed by Daniel Vetter, you can find the patch and the complete kernel sources archive here:http://www.iragan.com/linux/i855GM/; If this doesn't help, (I don't know much about it but I've thought maybe this could be the solution): make alternative xorg + intel-driver for 855gm (which works) as a manual installation available for those who have such hardware.
