[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1778011] Re: SRU: PRIME Power Saving mode draws too much power

Is this fix related to nvidia-390 only or will nvidia-396 from graphics-
drivers/ppa benefit from it as well?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1421808] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() from AbortServer() from FatalError() from xf86VTEnter()

2018-06-11 Thread Vlad Dinulescu
Hello,

Reproduction steps:

1. connect an external monitor (I connect mine through mini-DisplayPort, and I
use only the external monitor, I do NOT use both the laptop screen and the
external monitor)
2. with the external monitor connected, suspend the computer (I do it by
running xfce4-session-logout --suspend, I have a shortcut for this)
3. with the laptop suspended, disconnect the monitor
4. open the laptop, you'll be shown the Xdm login screen
5. log in
6. Xorg will crash, it will restart, and you'll see again the Xdm login screen

What works (how to avoid the crash)
1. connect an external monitor
2. before suspending the laptop, disconnect the external monitor
3. suspend the laptop
4. open the laptop, everything will be ok

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1421808] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() from AbortServer() from FatalError() from xf86VTEnter()

2018-06-07 Thread Vlad Dinulescu
Hello,

For me this started to manifest in the last months; Xorg started crashing
randomly after I resume from sleep.
In the meantime, I've installed Xubuntu 18.04 from scratch (keeping only the
/home partition) hoping that the problem would be gone. But it isn't.

It seems to be related to the external monitor - ie when there is an
external monitor plugged in and I suspend the computer, and when I
resume there's only the laptop. But it doesn't always happen, so I don't
have clear steps for reproducing. (My bug report was marked as
duplicate of this bug, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-
server/+bug/1774635)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1765230] [NEW] Immediate logout when using Chrome (and not only it)

2018-04-18 Thread Vlad Myachikov
Public bug reported:

Sometimes when I open a new tab or start downloading a file with the
Chrome browser, the system logs me out. Then this problem persists so
that I'm logged out very fast, and only reboot helps. Starting Firefox
after the first crash also leads to logout. What exact information can I
provide (some logs etc)? Thank you.

Guys, as it was said above, the bug is fixed in linux kernel 4.8.

Hello,

I can confirm that the bug disappears after switching to a newer kernel
than Ubuntu's 16.04 main one. 4.8.10-040810-generic did the trick.

managed to do it and can confirm the issue is fixed for it as well (in

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 881433] Re: Mouse wheel doesn't scroll in 'less' pager in lxterminal

2016-04-22 Thread Vlad Orlov
Fixed in vte 1:0.28.2-5ubuntu2:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1340687

Scrolling should now work in any vte-based terminal, starting from Ubuntu 15.10.
Unfortunately, I was unable to convince the maintainers to apply the patch in
12.04 and 14.04.

2016-04-05 Thread Vlad K.
Hello, sorry for late reply. I forgot about this and never got
notification of your replies.

Anyway, it appears this has been reported in bug #1565846 and has
nothing to do with BIOS, but is a known GNOME issue as mentioned in that
bug. I'll be soon upgrading to 16.04 and can then confirm if that fixed
the issue, as bug #1565846 suggests.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1518976] [NEW] miniDisplay VGA adapter doesn't work after switching to 4.2 kernel

2015-11-23 Thread Vlad Dinulescu

After switching to Ubuntu 15.10, my miniDisplay port adapter doesn't work
anymore, or in rare cases , it works, but it gives a maximum resolution of
1024x768 (whereas the monitor is 1920x1080).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1342675] Re: Random characters in screen text suddenly disappear

2015-08-05 Thread Vlad Omir
I am running Lubuntu 14.04.2 and it ran fine until the last
xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-utopic update.
My installed version was 2:2.99.914-1-exp1ubuntu4.3-trusty1
The update was for version 2:2.99.914-1-exp1ubuntu4.5-trusty1

I get text randomly missing from icons on the desktop and the only cure
(albeit temporary) is to logout and log back in.

How can I revert back to the previous driver?

Thanks

Nick

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 775602] Re: Keyboard layout switching is slow and unreliable

2011-09-29 Thread Vlad
I can confirm that natty has a bigger time of switching keyboard layout.
But this is not a bug but a suggestion to add ability to customize this timing
because it's really annoing.
I'm typing using all my 10 fingers like many of you and I can complete typing
new word before keyboard switched to new language.

Thanks.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 523027] Re: DRM Framebuffer crash; invalid framebuffer id; Thinkpads with Intel X4500HD

2010-04-25 Thread Vlad Zbarsky
I get the same error messages [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid
framebuffer id in dmesg, but instead of crashing kdm doesn't let me
login. If I try to login through kdm, it logs me out right away, and I
get the following in my Xorg.log simultaneously with dmesg errors:

Xorg.log:(EE) intel(0): Couldn't create pixmap for fbcon
Xorg.log:(EE) intel(0): Couldn't create pixmap for fbcon

If I use gdm instead of kdm, I can login fine, and X works as expected.

** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) = xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 541511] Re: MASTER: [i855] GPU lockup (apport-crash)

2010-04-18 Thread Vlad Pes
I've searched for the information and this is what I've found (maybe
it'll help):

http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16974:
Anyway the i855GM issues have just been radically fixed by Daniel Vetter, you
can find the patch and the complete kernel sources archive
here:http://www.iragan.com/linux/i855GM/;

If this doesn't help, (I don't know much about it but I've thought maybe
this could be the solution): make alternative xorg + intel-driver for
855gm (which works) as a manual installation available for those who
have such hardware.

Cheers,
Vlad
