I also get finally the complete freeze as znmeb-o, not immediately but
after using LibreOffice for a while. So forget about my workaround.

The workaround in #5 works for me, my settings are in the description of
the bug. If you want to provide more information, I think it is best in
the two upstream bug reports linked to this one.

A workaround. Open the Tools -> Options -> View menu, and mark "Use
OpenGL for all rendering (on restart)", restart LibreOffice.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1575000] [NEW] font glyph corruption on dialog box

2016-04-26 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Public bug reported:

I get a font glyph corruption in various dialog boxes in libreoffice. This
happens using the following graphic configuration:
  *-display
   description: VGA compatible controller
   product: Bonaire [FirePro W5100]
vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI]
   physical id: 0
   bus info: pci@:03:00.0
   version: 00
   width: 64 bits
   clock: 33MHz
   capabilities: vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom
   configuration: driver=radeon latency=0

I don't see this in other graphics (NVIDIA, INTEL).

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open for instance LibreOffice Writer
2. Copy some text to the clipboard
3. Open the Paste Special dialog with CTRL-SHIFT-V

I attach a screenshot of the corrupted font.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 952757] [NEW] Dual monitor setup with Nvidia graphics card: lightdm initial screen garbled for 10 seconds after login and before entering Unity desktop

2012-03-12 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 931967 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931967

Public bug reported:

Right after entering the password and before entering into the Unity
desktop, the screen becomes garbled by what it seems a random collage of
the previous graphics session. It lasts for about 10 seconds and then it
enters into the desktop normally and I do not see any other symptoms,

Steps to reproduce:

1. Boot up
2. Enter password in appropriate use in lightdm initial screen

What should happen? Enter into the desktop
What really happens? The screeen becomes corrupted by a collage of graphic
pieces for about 10 seconds.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work

2012-03-03 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
I've got this same error when updating to Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 from
11.10. But I think the current kernel in this version (3.2.0-17-generic
#27-Ubuntu) already incorporates the new module since the touchpad is
perfectly recognized and working correctly. Can this bug be marked as
fixed released and may be ask to SRU it to previous Ubuntu releases if
there is interest?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 656673] Re: Wireless mouse Logitech M305 sluggish

2011-11-27 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Daniel, I would suggest you open a bug specifically for your setting.
Here it will get unnoticed, since it is not on a recent release and in
my hardware I haven't seen this for months.

Just mark this one as invalid if you agree and enter ALT F2

ubuntu-bug xorg

on your system so that it gathers information about your hardware.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk

2011-11-10 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
@Alessandro, this bug was exclusively on the drive being reported as not
being used but actually being used and working perfectly. For the bugs
related to graphic problems, reporting users were asked to report
separate bugs. If you want to get attention to your bug it is better
that you open a specific bug on your issue, attaching all the relevant
information for your system, by entering from a terminal or with ALT F2
ubuntu-bug nvidia-common, or if you believe it is a Unity bug,
ubuntu-bug unity. Doing that you will have a much larger chance that
your bug is paid the right attention, here it will be overlooked for
sure as this was a different problem than yours. If you have duplicated
already a bug with this one, just unduplicate it, or as I said open a
new one.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk

2011-09-17 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
It is working fine in my system with Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 1, it is showing
correctly which driver is being used and it is saying it is active and
in use.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 839668] Re: Unable to drag windows from one monitor to another in multi-monitor setup

2011-09-08 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in nvidia-current.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

** Package changed: ubuntu = nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk

2011-07-14 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
suratta, this is not a bug report on graphical performance issues, but
just on jockey, that is the Restricted drivers application that
helps you in installing proprietary drivers for your hardware if you
need to. The issue is that the NVIDIA driver is being used but it does
not show up as such in the Restricted drivers application (jockey).
But in my case and other comments here we don't notice graphical
performance problems.

I think that if you want to get attention to your graphical problems you
should look for the appropriate bug report to comment there, or open a
new one if you don't find one. This will provide much more information
to the developers than commenting on this bug, where your graphical
problem may probably get not the right attention from them.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work

2011-06-30 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
May a post a reminder that this bug is strictly about a jockey problem?
That is, when jockey is reporting the NVIDIA driver is not being used,
but otherwise there is no other graphical problem. This other type of
problems may likely get unattended if posted in this bug report, you
should look for a more appropriate report or open a specific one if
needed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 650539] Re: Launching QT apps under Xinerama crashes Xorg : affects SpeedCrunch, KeePassX, Lucky Backup, Pencil, Stellarium, Skype, Google Earth, VLC, Konqueror, VirtualBox, Opera

2010-10-20 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Just a note on how to disable Xinerama, it was hard for me and may be it
may help others. I was bit by this bug trying to use emacs. I have a
Nvidia card and two monitors with Twinview, and saw Twinview as the
option being used in the nvidia configuration tool. I also checked my
xorg.conf and I couldn't see Xinerama anywhere, but I was still hit by
this bug. So I simply saved a new xorg.conf file with nvidia-
configuration-tool and now I could see the line enabling Xinerama in my
xorg.conf. Commenting out this line and restarting allowed me to apply
the workaround finally.
