2020-10-26 Thread Filip Roland
Public bug reported:

Sometimes after I change the used account to the not pirivleged user account
and clik to side menu bar the (Xorg/Gnome) screen randomly start turn black and
back to normal while i move the mouse, somtimes just stay black but if there is
an opened window (used to be nautilus or FireFox) and is move over the mause
cursor over its is start partially show the right content.
Paralelly the side menu turn upside down randomly.

I never experienced this with root account and find that if I lock the
screen and relese it is used to solve the problem for a while.

The problem raised after upgrade Ubuntu from 18.04 LTS to 20.04 LTS

The computer is a desktop so there no accelerometer giroscope.
The screen is a 4K montior with 3840×2160 resolution and work on 29,97 Hz
The graphics card is an ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1809940] Re: ASPEED AST2400 graphics failure on normal start but work on recovery start

2018-12-29 Thread Filip Roland
** Description changed:

I have an ASUS P10S-I server motherboard with integrated ASPEED AST2400 VGA
chipset.
With earlier Ubuntu version (maybe on Ubuntu 16.04.3 ?) it worked well.
Once when I updated (but before the actual version) it went wrong.

To be truth it not really the xresver...-ast's problem because this
earlier not installed automatically and the poroblem was the same. When
- i fond it on synaptic as uninstalled i hoped this will solv the problem
- and i had installed it but it not worked at all...
+ i found it on synaptic as uninstalled i hoped that this will solve the
+ problem and i had installed it but it not worked at all...

  The issue:
When I boot normally the login window load slowly and keybord and mouse very
slow too but work.
I can login. But after i login the screen not show the desktop it show
diagonal stripes. (see the attachment)
This stripes made from original screen but unrecognisable the things. But the
items work if you can click the right places. (for example i can click on the
main switch button if i have luck and Crl+Alt+Del log out me.)
After i log out the login screen corrupted on the same diagonal stripe way.
But also work I can re login.

  How it work:
If I start the recovery mode and on the recovery window choose continue start
normally (and nothing else needed) it works without problem. Evrithing is fine.

I tried to indtal ASPEED driver but on the Softwares and Updates menu
  Another driver don't found it.

2014-09-17 Thread Filip Sohajek
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/
or asking at http://askubuntu.com or http://ubuntuforums.org. For help
on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1354640] Re: rhythmbox not playing songs

2014-08-09 Thread Filip Sohajek
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1197102] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2013-07-16 Thread filip
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1188123 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1188123

With recent updates i think the gpu doesn't hang anymore.
checked the i915_error_state, no error state collected

But however when the laptop is idle and screens blanks i still can't get my
screen back.
I can see my desktop for a fraction of a second when i swith VT after that i
only get a black screen and my mouse pointer (which i can move).
I have fiddled with my setup of my custom xrandr script but nothing helps.
What i did is in lightdm.conf
i use display-setup-script=/usr/share/test.sh
and session-setup-script=/usr/share/test.sh

and my test.sh contains the following:
#!/bin/sh
export DISPLAY=:0
xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1280x800 --scale 1.5x1.5
xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1280x800 --scale 1.5x1.5 --panning 1920x1200 --pos
0x0 --rotate normal --output TV1 --off --output VGA1 --off

i have to issue the xrandr twice. The first time it scales the screen
but there is right and under a black border. Also i need to add the
panning otherwise i can't get with the pointer to the right bottom off
the screen (even after issuing the same command without the panning i
can't get there.) its get stuck in the corner in the corner of the
border of the first scale action.

i use the script to get a higher resolution of my screen than it
actually is. normaly it is 1280x800 but i find that the icons etc are to
large.

if i kill compiz i get my screen back also with setsid unity i get my screen
back. however some things are missing like the icons in the left corner. But
maybe thats normal.
If i restart lightdm i get my session back like normal. Now this always works
as opposed to when i first reported the bug. Probably due to the gpu hang that
is resolved.

** Description changed:

this happens on full up to date saucy.
if i booted i ended up with just a blinking cursor.
I had to switch to vt1, log on and restart lightdm.
Than i was able to login and i got this to report the bug.

+ I also got problems when i leave the pc alone and the screen blanks. Than i
get only a mousepointer when i move the mouse.
+ if i switch to another VT and than VT7 i instantly see the desktop but it
disapears.
+
+ I must note that i use a xrandr script to get a higher resolution than my
screen actualy is but with raring i had no

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1042257] Re: Wallpaper not showing til desktop is clicked

2012-08-29 Thread filip
this happened after the updates monday 12/08/27
never had problems before, i've been on quantal since alpha 1

The background does not come back permanently, the tooltips are black and
the dropdown menus are black until mouseover
Not sure this is a Xorg bug thow, because the user from the duplicate said that
the classic
gnome is not affected, which also uses the Xserver.
from what i see we all have an intel GMA945. maybe a intel driver bug?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 969609] Re: [6480g A4 APU] Display Shuts off when running any fullscreen game in wine.

2012-04-09 Thread Filip
Im running into a very similar issue. Im trying to use Wine to play any
of these games:

- Left 4 Dead 2 (this game I somehow managed to run once)
- Mass effect 2
- Mass effect 3
- Fifa 12

All of these games start and run with the open source drivers. The
performance of the open source drivers is not good enough. After installing the
ATI propriety drivers (I tried the range 11.12 - 12.3) the games crash on start
up and have to be killed. Some games manage to run the intro e.g.
- Left 4 Dead 2 shows the menu and crashes during loading
- Mass effect 2/3 crashes on start up
- Fifa 12 crashes after the language selection dialog.

It seems something goes wrong with the ati driver and wine. Could you
please tell me which logs should be appeneded?

Note: Im running this on 12.4 Kubuntu.

According to some comments, the main reason is a wrong design of the
laptop, which does not couple the accelerated graphics to the output

I've posted a new version of the -fglrx driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?
