Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 704110] Re: Corrupt screen in lower right corner

2011-03-27 Thread gpk
There are some similarities, but the symptoms are not identical.
It always occurs (occurred?) in the bottom right corner, independent of
where you might have had flash running.
Possibly, it is triggered by the use of flash; I don't always see it.
To be honest, I haven't seen it in the last week or two.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 704110] [NEW] Corrupt screen in lower right corner

Public bug reported:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 503085] [NEW] npviewer.bin crash causes fglrx freeze

2010-01-04 Thread gpk
Public bug reported:

When logging in, firefox appeared but the gnome panels did not. The
user had a LCD display that showed a background and only a single
firefox window. (Firefox was returning to a saved location, which was
a local flash (.swf) file.)

After a few seconds, nothing happened, so the user hit file-quit on
firefox. Firefox disappeared, leaving him with only a background.
The screen was unresponsive to right-clicks.

The following errors were logged at around that time:

[ 7280.255211] usb 2-3: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3

(*lock=0x8003)
[ 7775.109284] [fglrx:firegl_unlock] *ERROR* firegl_lock_free failed!

I then restarted gdm and everything worked smoothly.

There is clearly a flash bug here somewhere, either in the user's code and/or
in npviewer.bin.
But, there is also an X bug, because X freezes.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 338645] Re: linux freezes completely since 2.6.28-7

2009-06-09 Thread gpk
Freezes are much rarer (or perhaps gone) as of about 1 June.
However, there is a chance it was disk-related (i.e. hardware, not
software).Around 1 June, I had a hard disk failure, replaced a disk
and restored from back-up. So, it is possible that the old disk was
having sporadic errors that somehow caused the freeze.

I should point out that my ext4 file systems are only used for backup
purposes, and therefore are only mounted for a short time every day.
Freezes had occurred when the ext4 partitions were not mounted.
