[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 997470] Re: apport-gpu-error-intel.py keep crashing for 4-5 times on every reboot
I've just read through all the comments and can't see that there's a fix. If it's there but I missed it, please point it out. I've been using Precise since it was released and have been hoping that this bug would be fixed through an update. No luck. I now am actively looking, but it seems like there is not fix. This obviously affects a lot of people. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 477256] Re: [i855] Xserver freezing on Toshiba Satellite A10 (Intel 82852/855GM)
I believe I may have found a fix for my computer (closing the lid doesn't crash any more, and I haven't had any X crashes since doing this): `sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade` -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477256 Title: [i855] Xserver freezing on Toshiba Satellite A10 (Intel 82852/855GM) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/477256/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 477256] Re: [i855] Xserver freezing on Toshiba Satellite A10 (Intel 82852/855GM)
I have been having this problem since I bought a new laptop. Switching to unity-2d has removed all crashes, however, I would like to go back to 3d if I can. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477256 Title: [i855] Xserver freezing on Toshiba Satellite A10 (Intel 82852/855GM) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/477256/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 524281] Re: Tens of wakes per second in [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick on Core 2 Duo even with only 1 core enabled
That script looks useful, thanks for posting it. I've all turned round on the subject. I ran Ubuntu Classic (no effects) and ran powertop with no apps running. It was significantly better than in Ubuntu 10.10. It was actually really good. The red bar in powertop that shows wakeups-from-idle per second, well I found out it is not always red! It was orange for the first time. I'll just avoid using Unity, which givers my processor a hard time anyway. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524281 Title: Tens of wakes per second in [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick on Core 2 Duo even with only 1 core enabled ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 524281] Re: Tens of wakes per second in [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick on Core 2 Duo even with only 1 core enabled
My two cents is that I was waiting for Ubuntu Natty for a newer kernel and therefore better performance, but I appear to have more wakeups and less battery life than before.

@Gurmeet It all sounds very positive. For those of us that don't want to get their fingers dirty playing around with different kernel versions, there will be a lot of satisfaction when this fix finds itself into the official repos!
