[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1959695] [NEW] Xorg crash
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1887190] Re: MSFT Touchpad not working on Lenovo Legion-5 15ARH05
Again my apologies to everyone for hijacking this thread, But since people are asking, and I was able to solve the backlight problem after days of pain, here are the instructions. Two caveats though: - you need to have the laptop in "Discrete" mode in the BIOS (in my experience, Hybrid mode gives little battery life advantage, even in Windows) - the instructions below are for Debian, but the only different thing to have in mind is the /experimental release in the apt install command, which should be adapted to the Ubuntu release you want to install the drivers from 1. make sure that you remove all nvidia stuff: apt --purge remove nvidia* (this includes any nvidia configuration files in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d) 2. install the proprietary nvidia driver version you want (replace experimental with the target release) sudo apt install libegl-nvidia0/experimental libgl1-nvidia-glvnd-glx/experimental libglx-nvidia0/experimental libnvidia-eglcore/experimental libnvidia-glcore/experimental libnvidia-ml1/experimental nvidia-alternative/experimental nvidia-driver/experimental nvidia-driver-bin/experimental nvidia-driver-libs/experimental nvidia-egl-common/experimental nvidia-egl-icd/experimental nvidia-kernel-dkms/experimental nvidia-kernel-support/experimental nvidia-modprobe/experimental nvidia-vdpau-driver/experimental xserver-xorg-video-nvidia/experimental libgles-nvidia1/experimental libgles-nvidia2/experimental nvidia-vulkan-icd/experimental libnvidia-cfg1/experimental libcuda1/experimental libnvcuvid1/experimental libnvidia-encode1/experimental nvidia-opencl-icd/experimental nvidia-smi/experimental libnvidia-cbl/experimental libnvidia-rtcore/experimental nvidia-cuda-mps/experimental libnvidia-ptxjitcompiler1/experimental libnvidia-compiler/experimental libnvidia-glvkspirv/experimental nvidia-settings 3. create a file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/21-nvidia-brightness.conf with the following contents: Section "OutputClass" Identifier "nvidia" MatchDriver "nvidia-drm" Driver "nvidia" Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1" EndSection 4. reboot and backlight control should be working! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887190 Title: MSFT Touchpad not working on Lenovo Legion-5 15ARH05 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pop-os/+bug/1887190/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1637754] [NEW] No image out of display port in Lenovo T460s
Public bug reported: I've tried to connect my Lenovo T460s to a HDMI projector using a mini display port to HDMI cable. Although this works in windows on the same hardware, on linux nothing is displayed and the projector says "No signal". Ubuntu recognizes the projector and sets everything up in the Displays settings though. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1631643] [NEW] 1920x1080 HDMI output is corrupted in 16.04
Public bug reported: Ever since upgrading to 16.04 from 14.04 on my Lenovo x230 the HDMI output to a Benq W1070 is corrupted if run at 1920x1080 (native resolution). At 1280x720 the display looks fine. Looking at similar reports for other graphics cards it seems similar to cases when the frequency is too low. I've tested that the projector still works fine with the same cable and another computer. I've attached a photo of the kind of corruption that shows up on screen. It's mostly green/magenta pixels sprinkled across the screen. I'm afraid I don't have the system any longer. Also, I updated Ubuntu to its latest version to stop the flickering, so the problem has already been fixed by ubuntu. I guess it's a problem of backporting the latest fixes in Ubuntu 15.04 to 14.04. Thanks for your attention, I guess the issue can be closed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1481239 Title: Screen flicker in ubuntu 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1481239/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Public bug reported: In relation with https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1405277 As explained in the bug description, the screen flickers constantly. The system is a Toshiba Satellite A215-s7437 running ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS. The video card (from Toshiba's site) is an ATI Radeon X1200 128MB-319MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1388647] Re: DRI_PRIME=1 has no effect in Ubuntu 14.10
I can confirm the bug with DRI_PRIME Current setup is Intel Ivy Bridge + AMD Radeon 7730M Reverting the following packages and their dependencies to their trusty-update version fixed the issue (Following packages with their dependencies) xserver-xorg-input-all xserver-xorg-input-wacom xserver-xorg-video-glamoregl xserver-xorg-input-synaptics xserver-xorg-input-evdev xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-input-mouse xserver-xorg-video-vesa xserver-xorg-video-mach64 xserver-xorg-video-fbdev xserver-xorg xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse xserver-xorg-video-modesetting xserver-xorg-video-r128 The problem most probably is contained in the package xserver-xorg, since most of these dependencies shouldn't affect prime (input) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388647 Title: DRI_PRIME=1 has no effect in Ubuntu 14.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1388647/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781983] Re: Screen becomes corrupted under normal usage
disabling capture_before_unmap seems to fix the problem. Here's my quick test: - Open a Chrome window on virtual desktop 1 - Open a terminal on virtual desktop 2 - Do Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Left to move the terminal to desktop 1 With capture_before_unmap enabled the terminal window is not displayed properly (most of it is missing). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 793764] Re: Top area of screen black when rotating screen
I have a ThinkPad X220T (convertible tablet) which has Intel graphics as well. I have the same issue when I rotate using xrandr manually, or with the screen resolution applet. The area of screen which is blank is still usable by the dock and menubar, but does not seem to have rotated properly. See the attached screenshots. landscape and portrait show the problem (similar to the OP), and normal and borken show the Ubuntu dash (or whatever it is called). As you can see, it fills the screen (1366x768 on this machine) in landscape, but appears to still be 1366x768 when rotated. ** Attachment added: normal landscape https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/793764/+attachment/2176241/+files/landscape.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/793764 Title: Top area of screen black when rotating screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/793764/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
