[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1959695] [NEW] Xorg crash

2022-02-01 Thread Pedro David Lopez Mendoza
Public bug reported:

ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa"

-Respecto al ultimo problema intente solucionarlo con
"GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=force apm=power_off""

Nada de lo anterior funciono.

Agradezco la atención.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1887190] Re: MSFT Touchpad not working on Lenovo Legion-5 15ARH05

2020-11-25 Thread Pedro Ribeiro
Again my apologies to everyone for hijacking this thread, But since
people are asking, and I was able to solve the backlight problem after
days of pain, here are the instructions. Two caveats though:

- you need to have the laptop in "Discrete" mode in the BIOS (in my experience,
Hybrid mode gives little battery life advantage, even in Windows)
- the instructions below are for Debian, but the only different thing to have
in mind is the /experimental release in the apt install command, which should
be adapted to the Ubuntu release you want to install the drivers from

1. make sure that you remove all nvidia stuff:
apt --purge remove nvidia*
(this includes any nvidia configuration files in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d)

2. install the proprietary nvidia driver version you want (replace experimental
with the target release)
sudo apt install libegl-nvidia0/experimental
libgl1-nvidia-glvnd-glx/experimental libglx-nvidia0/experimental
libnvidia-eglcore/experimental libnvidia-glcore/experimental
libnvidia-ml1/experimental nvidia-alternative/experimental
nvidia-driver/experimental nvidia-driver-bin/experimental
nvidia-driver-libs/experimental nvidia-egl-common/experimental
nvidia-egl-icd/experimental nvidia-kernel-dkms/experimental
nvidia-kernel-support/experimental nvidia-modprobe/experimental
nvidia-vdpau-driver/experimental xserver-xorg-video-nvidia/experimental
libgles-nvidia1/experimental libgles-nvidia2/experimental
nvidia-vulkan-icd/experimental libnvidia-cfg1/experimental
libcuda1/experimental libnvcuvid1/experimental libnvidia-encode1/experimental
nvidia-opencl-icd/experimental nvidia-smi/experimental
libnvidia-cbl/experimental libnvidia-rtcore/experimental
nvidia-cuda-mps/experimental libnvidia-ptxjitcompiler1/experimental
libnvidia-compiler/experimental libnvidia-glvkspirv/experimental nvidia-settings

3. create a file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/21-nvidia-brightness.conf with the
following contents:
Section "OutputClass"
Identifier "nvidia"
MatchDriver "nvidia-drm"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"
EndSection

4. reboot and backlight control should be working!

Don't want to hijack this thread, but has anyone here with a Legion 5
(AMD version) has gotten the backlight working in Discrete graphics mode
(only the nvidia GPU enabled)?

I don't think it is, I believe the for-next branch in linux-gpio will
only be integrated in 5.11, but @Coiby Xu (coiby) should be able to
confirm that.

2020-11-22 Thread Pedro Ribeiro
To be specific, this is the branch I built:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio.git/log/?h=for-next

The kernel I built had 0f2c7af45d7eef8455d7ad39c5326229bf19a2ed as the
latest commit.

I have a Legion 5 15ARH05H (slightly different than 15ARH05).

@Coiby Xu (coiby)

I build the next branch of linux-gpio (which contains the patch you mentioned
in #251), and the trackpad works just fine without the hid polling on the
kernel command line.

After posting, I tried

and it worked for me on a Spanish USB apple keyboard.

Currently I have my laptop's and the USB Apple keyboard working
correctly _and_ simultaneously

Just my .2 cents

I'm having this issue with a Spanish USB Mac keyboard. Is it really so
difficult to detect when you have a Mac keyboard connected and/or

Since when? What I know is that modesetting doesn't provide VSync and
it's up to the DE to enable something to avoid tearing. From what I
understood from this merge request is that TearFree isn't ready yet. But
the Eoan package works just fine.

2019-05-15 Thread Pedro Fleck
I know it is not, but I found this issue trying to fix the tearing since
modesetting doesn't have a VSync option like Intel did and XFWM 4.12
VSync option didn't fix it. But I just tried the Eoan package and now
XPresent works for XFWM 4.13 and my tearing problem is solved! Any
chance that it will be backported to 19.04/18.04?

Testing the wayland session the pointer behavior is quite different. It
requires a much smaller speed setting to be usable and seems more
erratic than the X one but maybe that just needs getting used to.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1772189] Re: Pointer is erratic without disabling the libinput Acceleration Profile

2018-05-31 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
After a clean reinstall of 18.04 this issue still exists. I did notice
something else though. The default settings are usable but they become
unusable with higher pointer speeds in settings. I end up preferring
disabling the acceleration and setting the pointer speed to maximum
although I'd probably like even a bit more speed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1772189] [NEW] Pointer is erratic without disabling the libinput Acceleration Profile

2018-05-19 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
Public bug reported:

I have a Lenovo T460s and have upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04. To be able to
use the trackpoint I need to disable the libinput acceleration with the
following:

$ xinput --set-prop 'TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint' 'libinput Accel Profile
Enabled' 0, 1

Without doing this I get an extremely erratic pointer. Setting the
acceleration profile to flat in the tweak tool doesn't fix it either.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1637754] Re: No image out of display port in Lenovo T460s

2016-10-29 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
The problem was fixed just by rebooting so it seems this is a kernel bug
that left the driver hedged in an unrecoverable state.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1637754] [NEW] No image out of display port in Lenovo T460s

2016-10-29 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
Public bug reported:

I've tried to connect my Lenovo T460s to a HDMI projector using a mini
display port to HDMI cable. Although this works in windows on the same
hardware, on linux nothing is displayed and the projector says "No
signal". Ubuntu recognizes the projector and sets everything up in the
Displays settings though.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1631643] [NEW] 1920x1080 HDMI output is corrupted in 16.04

2016-10-08 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
Public bug reported:

Ever since upgrading to 16.04 from 14.04 on my Lenovo x230 the HDMI
output to a Benq W1070 is corrupted if run at 1920x1080 (native
resolution). At 1280x720 the display looks fine. Looking at similar
reports for other graphics cards it seems similar to cases when the
frequency is too low. I've tested that the projector still works fine
with the same cable and another computer. I've attached a photo of the
kind of corruption that shows up on screen. It's mostly green/magenta
pixels sprinkled across the screen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1576784] [NEW] MatchIsTouchscreen also matches touchpads in 16.04

2016-04-29 Thread Pedro Morales
Public bug reported:

Previously in 15.10 I had the following rule in
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-no-touchscreen.conf:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "Touchscreen disable"
MatchIsTouchscreen "on"

Option "Ignore" "on"
EndSection

This worked in disabling the touchpad on my lenovo T440s

After the upgrade to 16.04 I noticed that my touchpad would not work. And I
found the following lines in the log:
[ 3107.956] (II) config/udev: Adding input device SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
(/dev/input/event6)
[ 3107.956] (**) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Ignoring device from InputClass
"Touchscreen disable"
[ 3107.956] (II) config/udev: Adding input device SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
(/dev/input/mouse0)
[ 3107.956] (**) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Ignoring device from InputClass
"Touchscreen disable"

So I had to disable the rule in order to be able to use the touchpad,
and now I can't disable the touchscreen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481239] Re: Screen flicker in ubuntu 14.04

2015-09-20 Thread Pedro Bezunartea López
I'm afraid I don't have the system any longer. Also, I updated Ubuntu to
its latest version to stop the flickering, so the problem has already
been fixed by ubuntu. I guess it's a problem of backporting the latest
fixes in Ubuntu 15.04 to 14.04.

Thanks for your attention, I guess the issue can be closed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481239] [NEW] follow up bug 1405277: screen flicker in ubuntu 14.04.1 and derivatives

2015-08-04 Thread Pedro Bezunartea López
Public bug reported:

In relation with https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1405277

As explained in the bug description, the screen flickers constantly. The
system is a Toshiba Satellite A215-s7437 running ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS. The
video card (from Toshiba's site) is an ATI Radeon X1200 128MB-319MB
dynamically allocated shared graphics memory.

The expected result is obviously having a smooth display, no flickering.

Pedro.

  These posts describe my problem:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1393169
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1396361
But in my case, only when using multiple monitors it happens. I use one
monitor rotated and one not. Like:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81886

The only way I've found to remove the extra mouse cursor is to drag an image
in Chrome (?). It doesn't work with an image in Firefox nor in another program.
Anyway, the extra mouse coursor appears again at any time, so I have no
solution for this.

But in my case, only when using multiple monitors it happens. I use one monitor
rotated and one not. Like: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81886

The only way I've found to remove the extra mouse cursor is to drag an image in
Chrome (?). It doesn't work with an image in Firefox nor in another program.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1388647] Re: DRI_PRIME=1 has no effect in Ubuntu 14.10

2014-11-03 Thread Pedro Armando
I can confirm the bug with DRI_PRIME
Current setup is Intel Ivy Bridge + AMD Radeon 7730M

Reverting the following packages and their dependencies to their trusty-update
version fixed the issue
(Following packages with their dependencies)
xserver-xorg-input-all
xserver-xorg-input-wacom
xserver-xorg-video-glamoregl
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
xserver-xorg-input-evdev
xserver-xorg-core
xserver-xorg-input-mouse
xserver-xorg-video-vesa
xserver-xorg-video-mach64
xserver-xorg-video-fbdev
xserver-xorg
xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse
xserver-xorg-video-modesetting
xserver-xorg-video-r128

The problem most probably is contained in the package xserver-xorg,
since most of these dependencies shouldn't affect prime (input)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2012-09-11 Thread Pedro Alves
I find it hard to find that firefox is causing this - but for the ones
that think it's the cause, can you please go to Preferences - Advanced
- General Tab and disable / enable hardware acceleration to see if that
could be the cause?

In this thread there seems to be different things at stake. On my case, the
crashes stopped by setting i915.i915_enable_rc6=0 i915.i915_enable_fbc=0 in
grub, and I'm a heavy user of firefox

Obs.: This recent patch enabled a enhanced click-and-drag using two

How to reproduce problem: just click while using a multitouch trackpad

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 938737] Re: Setting AreaBottomEdge on xorg.conf causes touchpad to stop working

2012-02-24 Thread Pedro Nariyoshi
Hmmm, a new problem however, two-finger click - right click no longer works.
):
I'll look for a bug report with these characteristics, otherwise, should I file
a new bug?

I'm not very familiar with Clickpad support. Are you suggesting I force
the use of a different driver or that I compile a patched synaptics
driver?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781983] Re: Screen becomes corrupted under normal usage

2011-08-12 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
disabling capture_before_unmap seems to fix the problem. Here's my quick
test:

- Open a Chrome window on virtual desktop 1
- Open a terminal on virtual desktop 2
- Do Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Left to move the terminal to desktop 1

With capture_before_unmap enabled the terminal window is not displayed
properly (most of it is missing). Without capture_before_unmap it seems
to work fine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 695149] Re: [i945gm] Right-click menus don't disappear

2011-07-12 Thread Pedro Castro
I'm also experiencing this situation. Sometimes this happens with multiple
menus, so the screen gets cluttered with all these sticky menus. I'm not
using desktop Visual Effects.
To remove the menus, some solutions are to close the corresponding
application or enable Visual Effects (Normal level, for example) and then
revert to None.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 793764] Re: Top area of screen black when rotating screen

2011-06-20 Thread Uncle Pedro
I have a ThinkPad X220T (convertible tablet) which has Intel graphics
as well. I have the same issue when I rotate using xrandr manually, or
with the screen resolution applet. The area of screen which is blank
is still usable by the dock and menubar, but does not seem to have
rotated properly. See the attached screenshots. landscape and portrait
show the problem (similar to the OP), and normal and borken show the
Ubuntu dash (or whatever it is called). As you can see, it fills the
screen (1366x768 on this machine) in landscape, but appears to still be
1366x768 when rotated.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 793764] Re: Top area of screen black when rotating screen

2011-06-20 Thread Uncle Pedro
Hi all, the fact that the dash appeared in the blank area made me
think it could be a higher-level interface issue, so I tried logging in
in Classic mode -- and in that mode xrandr works well -- I do not have
this issue in classic mode. So I guess this is probably a bug with Unity
-- at least for my hardware. Would one of you portege folks try logging
in with classic mode and see if it solves your problem, too?
