[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2060354] Re: Segfaults and assertion failures in Xorg's render/glyph.c
I have prepared test packages for ubuntu 22.04 LTS/jammy in the https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security- proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages PPA for both xorg-server: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security- proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+sourcepub/15921802/+listing-archive-extra and for xwayland: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security- proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+sourcepub/15921798/+listing-archive-extra I was able to reproduce the crash under Xwayland in a jammy vm with both intellij and the glyph_memleak.c reproducer, and using the proposed upstream patch seems to address the crash, but more testing is welcome. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060354 Title: Segfaults and assertion failures in Xorg's render/glyph.c To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/2060354/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2037604] Re: Backport packages for 22.04.4 HWE stack
The directx-headers part of this is easy because it's just a build- dependency of mesa, but mesa itself is a big delta to a library that affects all users of the graphics stack: unlike the kernel, which has both GA and HWE versions where the user can opt out of the rolling kernel updates on the LTS, there is only one mesa package, so the impact of any regressions is higher. I see that the current bug description is in line with the previous update, LP: #2019212; and of course, with respect to hardware enablement, this is an SRU we're going to want to take; but I think it would be best if there were a more explicit test case than just "Install the new mesa on various hw". Do we expect this new mesa to be tested on all certified hardware before it's released to -updates? Is there a feedback mechanism for us to *know* if Certification finds regressions on some of the certified platforms? Is any effort made to check for regressions on non-certified hardware? ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2037604 Title: Backport packages for 22.04.4 HWE stack To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/directx-headers/+bug/2037604/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Public bug reported: On jammy, an XP Pen 13 tablet (shown in the hardware as "UGTABLET 11.6 inch PenDisplay") is unusable because the axes for the stylus are swapped: moving the stylus up on the screen moves the cursor to the left, moving it down moves it right, moving the stylus to the left moves the cursor up, moving it to the right moves the cursor down. I am reporting this bug initially against Xorg, but the problem is present using either Xorg or Wayland. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1992996] Re: RM: obsolete intel opencl libraries (for llvm-11, -13)
Unfortunately, for the last one it hasn't been removed because despite Debian saying it's no longer used, reverse-depends appears to disagree: Reverse-Depends * libllvmspirvlib-11-dev(for libllvmspirvlib11) * libopencl-clang11 (for libllvmspirvlib11) * libopencl-clang13 (for libllvmspirvlib13) * llvm-spirv-11 (for libllvmspirvlib11) Packages without architectures listed are reverse-dependencies in: amd64, arm64, armhf, ppc64el, s390x Reverse-Build-Depends * llvm-toolchain-13 (for llvm-spirv) * llvm-toolchain-14 (for llvm-spirv) so I don't see that we can remove this from Ubuntu. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1988438] Re: Xorg crashes with [Failed to compile FS: 0:1(10): error: GLSL 1.30 is not supported ...] on Intel Penryn
I re-installed the HP Pavilion dvb Core Duo with Intel graphics with regular Ubuntu 22.04 with GNOME and Wayland, and didn't have any crashes during a week of regular usage. The regular Ubuntu is actually pretty responsive on this older hardware (using an SSD) and the installation chose an appropriate amount of swap (4G) vs MATE (1G) for 4G of physical RAM. Please consider some option for those of us that want to prevent these older but like-new machines from ending up in a landfill. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1972133] [NEW] +/- geometry offsets don't work under Wayland
Public bug reported: When using the default wayland-based session in Ubuntu 22.04, trying to use +/- to control window placement doesn't work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1969396] Re: Can't use Right Alt as compose key with English (Dvorak, alt. intl.) layout
On Wed, Apr 20, 2022 at 03:58:40AM -, Gunnar Hjalmarsson wrote: > Alternate Charters Key to None + Compose key to Right Alt > - > $ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.input-sources xkb-options > ['lv3:ralt_alt', 'compose:ralt'] > Right Alt according to xev: Multi_key xev also returns Multi_key for me here, but it doesn't actually *work* as a compose key with the above values. The lv3:ralt_alt conflicts in some fashion and only when I remove it from the settings do I get Compose key functionality. So if your assertion is that the gsettings values are correct and it's a bug in how xkeyboard-config interprets/applies those settings, then it's not a bug in gnome-control-center. However if this is a wrong setting to be set in gsettings, it's a gnome-control-center bug. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969396 Title: Can't use Right Alt as compose key with English (Dvorak, alt. intl.) layout To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1969396/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

> And AFAICT gnome-control-center sets the expected XKB options, > so it's not a g-c-c bug. Maybe an xkeyboard-config bug. >From my initial bug report: Setting Alternate Characters Key to None, and moving the Compose Key setting around between different options (and then back to Right Alt), the behavior of the Right Alt key is still AltGr and not Compose. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1943417] Re: Xorg freeze

@Shih-Yuan Lee: I see you use a similar dockingstation and you made patch (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/443/) But I have exact the same behaviour - see my bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics- drivers-460/+bug/1935951 It is almost a similar hardconfiguration - I think - using a WD19DC instead of a WD19TB docking station and Dell 15' 128GB RAM + NVIDIA RTX 5000 16GB with Ubuntu 20.04LTS Unfortunately, my bug is still in State incomplete as I do not get any X11 crash file in /var/crash/ ; Only the nvidia error in the Xorg.log files with X11 restart and I upload all kinds of files Running X11 session exits sometimes with EnterVT failed with an NVIDIA error "- Setting a mode on head 1 failed: Invalid surface parameters" and (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to enter VT (mode initialization failed) Do you think a similar patch can be done in my case? In the mergerequest https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/443/ I posted a question if my bug is related to your mergerequest but was denied (a nvidia only bug according to M.Dänzer) Would you mind to have a look at my bug? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1890772] Re: No signal on 4K 60Hz DisplayPort monitor by default, until "max bpc" is lowered to 8
I came across this bug because of my problem which I described in https://askubuntu.com/questions/1314639/weird-graphics-artifacts- monitor-off-with-ubuntu-20-04-and-nvidia-rtx-5000/1343876#1343876 In my case the Dell monitors tell, they can support 30bit. I came to the conclusion, that the dockingstation's Displayports cannot handle 30bit which leads to strange screen artifacts. However, the HDMI port of the dockingstation outputs 24bits and I have no screen corruption, connecting them directly to laptop is also no problem. In Windows the output is limited at 24bits and the output is reliable. xrandr with "max bpc" 8" is not working me and brings strange errors. Is there any other way to tell Linux system to limit to 24bits? Even before the Desktop appears the console has already switched to 30 bit (according to Monitor OSD info) without any EDID hacking? The Laptop is used daily across different dockingstations with different monitors (Home/Work) System config: - Dell Precision 15" 7540, Xeon E-2286M@2.4GHz, 128 GB ECC RAM, NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 16GB VRAM - Dockingstations at Home and offices: WD19DC - Dockingstation 1 WD19DC: 2xDell 43' U4320Q - Dockingstation 2 WD19DC: 2xDellxU3818DW, 37.5" + Laptopdisplay ** Attachment added: "Edid of Dell 43' U4320Q" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1890772/+attachment/5502614/+files/edid_U4320Q_Linux.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890772 Title: No signal on 4K 60Hz DisplayPort monitor by default, until "max bpc" is lowered to 8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/1890772/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1921690] Re: I dont know
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -> About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete.
