[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 509331] Re: Duplicate mouse pointer on dual head with rotated display(s)
I've installed Lucid (a dual boot on the same hardware) now to test this issue. Result: Lucid has fixed the problem. Additionally I don't get the picture corruption reported by my colleague either. As a side note: the open source radeon driver is now working almost perfectly in Lucid too (eg dual head, one rotated monitor, compiz enabled etc). So probably I will stop using fglrx and switch to the radeon driver when I migrate my main system to Lucid. ** Changed in: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- Duplicate mouse pointer on dual head with rotated display(s) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 509331] Re: Duplicate mouse pointer on dual head with rotated display(s)
Thanks Bryce, I'll be installing Lucid soon to test this. In the meantime, a colleague on the same hardware who has already upgraded to Lucid reports that the duplicate pointer issue went away, but that rotating the secondary screen caused a scrambling of the image on the screen as the pointer moved. I remember a similar issue on this hardware back with 9.04. As soon as I can confirm for myself, I'll post an update. -- Duplicate mouse pointer on dual head with rotated display(s) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 509331] [NEW] Duplicate mouse pointer on dual head with rotated display(s)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg With a dual head setup on an ATI Radeon HD 2400XT (RV610) where one or both of the displays is rotated (ie portrait), there is a mirror image of the mouse pointer shown on the 2nd display whenever the mouse is on the 1st display. Only one pointer is visible when the mouse is on the 2nd display. The extra phantom mouse pointer can't interact with anything on the 2nd display. When only the 2nd display is rotated, the extra pointers appearance and movement still match the 1st display and have the wrong rotation for the 2nd display. This problem only appears when using the proprietary fglrx driver, but that might only be because I can't seem to rotate the displays with the open source driver. I don't know if this is relevant, but the AMD Catalyst Control Centre shows Xinerama as being disabled and erroneously says that it can't be enabled because it needs multiple displays (?). Apart from the 2nd pointer, there don't seem to be any other problems - there are no apparent graphics glitches or performance problems. Compiz also works OK on both monitors. A quick update: This particular problem goes away when the SWCursor option is enabled for the fglrx device. -- Duplicate mouse pointer on dual head with rotated display(s) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
