[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 765090] Re: Dragging of windows does not work with trackpad (natty beta)
Yes, three finger dragging works under unity but not on classic ubuntu desktop (gnome). Tap and hold however works for both but it's hard to initiate likely due to the low sensitivity. Probably the tap and hold delay time is set somewhere to a small value. It should be more than 100 millisecond in my opinion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765090 Title: Dragging of windows does not work with trackpad (natty beta) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 765090] [NEW] Dragging of windows does not work with trackpad (natty beta)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics Dragging of windows with trackpad (touchpad on macbook) does not work. Dragging can be issued normally (which works well with Ubuntu 10.10) by taping twice the trackpad when the pointer is on the window header holding the second tap and move the window. Also, highlighting text in a window (terminal or browser) a similar way is not available. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 510001] Re: Color depth degradation after resume (ATI Mobility Radeon X700)
I would have some additional comments. I downloaded some new and old Ubuntu CD images, burned them, booted the computer with the CDs, suspended it and finally resumed it. The interesting result is that this issue is also presented in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick but not presented in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. In 9.10, after resume, the screen has the same nice shading than before. The CD image I used is ubuntu-9.10-desktop-amd64.iso. The related parameters of this ubuntu release (on the CD): uname -a Linux ubuntu 2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:05:01 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux X -version X.Org X Server 1.6.4 Release Date: 2009-9-27 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.24-23-server x86_64 Ubuntu Current Operating System: Linux ubuntu 2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:05:01 UTC 2009 x86_64 Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/casper/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash -- Build Date: 26 October 2009 05:19:56PM xorg-server 2:1.6.4-2ubuntu4 (buildd@) Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version. -- Color depth degradation after resume (ATI Mobility Radeon X700) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xserver-xorg-driver-ati. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 592044] Re: [g41] Blank screen after upgrade and reboot [Ubuntu 10.10alpha1 ]
The reason of this issue was that the update manager removed the xserver unduly (the bug was there not in xorg). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 592044] Re: [g41] Blank screen after upgrade and reboot [Ubuntu 10.10alpha1 ]
Sorry, I added earlier the drm.debug parameter during the boot in the grub menu hitting 'e' but probably I did it a wrong way. Now I attach the new dmesg.txt with drm.debug=0x04. I can confirm that the monitor is connected on the VGA port (there is no other possibility to connect it to the graphics card). Unfortunately, I can not provide the output of xrandr because I get the error: Can't open display (because I have no any running X I can get only a text console (see below)). If I run xrandr remotely (without setting the display) I obtain the followings: SZ:Pixels Physical Refresh 0 1024 x 768( 347mm x 260mm ) 60 1160 x 120( 54mm x 41mm ) 60 2320 x 240( 108mm x 81mm ) 60 3640 x 480( 217mm x 163mm ) 60 4800 x 600( 271mm x 203mm ) 60 5 1680 x 1050 ( 569mm x 356mm ) 60 *6 1670 x 971( 566mm x 329mm ) *60 Current rotation - normal Current reflection - none Rotations possible - normal Reflections possible - none Setting size to 6, rotation to normal Setting reflection on neither axis Some other information: If I hit esc when grub starts and I check the boot parameters with the key 'e' and 'ctrl+x' to continue the boot process I will obtain the possibility to log in on a text console which I can exploit maximally. During the boot I can see the boot messages and finally gpm (mouse in a text terminal) works as well. Logging in and trying to start gdm I get the warning along with similar warnings: GdmLocalDisplayFactory: maximum number of X display failures reached: check X server log for errors If I do not touch the computer during the boot (or hit esc to see the grub menu but continue booting with enter) I will get a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner and suddenly I can see the Ubuntu splash screen for a second and finally I get a totally black screen. (No any boot message was seen.) In this final state I can not switch to a virtual terminal by hitting Ctrl+Alt+F1 or F2 etc. I can reach the machine only by ssh (ssh-server is installed) or through a graphical application like nx-client from a remote machine. If I login by ssh and issue the command 'sudo reboot' or 'sudo poweroff' the ubuntu splash screen appears immediately and reboots or shutdowns the computer. ** Attachment added: "dmesg.txt with drm.debug" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/51106529/dmesg.txt -- [g41] Blank screen after upgrade and reboot [Ubuntu 10.10alpha1 ] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592044 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Hello Bryce, I thank you for your questions. I have no reliable information on the real color depth after suspend/resume. I have just assumed that it could be something similar. Therefore I attached two photos on the screen after such actions. (Sorry my cam is horrible so you will be able to see rather distorted images but the phenomena looks clear.) I've also checked the PID of Xorg $ ps -A |grep Xorg 964 tty7 00:00:13 Xorg therefore I copied some files from /proc/964 to the compressed directory attached here. There is a subdir within named as 964. I also performed the actions you requested with radeontool. There is a regdump_broke_local.txt and regdump_broke_remote.txt along with the regdump_good.txt file. regdump_broke_local.txt is the gathered info using the broken screen. regdump_broke_remote.txt is the same but I logged in remotely. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 510001] Re: [lucid alpha-2][radeon] Color depth degradation after resume (ATI Mobility Radeon X700)
I have to withdraw my previous comment. The truth is that I have two machines theoretically with the same configuration (except the hard drives are different). Both are the same acer ferrari 4005 WLMi model. In one of them the color depth degradation still appears while the other one suffers from Bug #524860 related to gnome-keyring but color depth changes after suspend/resume does not appear. I did the following experiment: I switched on both machines when booted up I logged in, suspended and resumed. After these I coppied the file from /var/log/Xorg.0.log to Xorg.0.log_homepc (refers to homepc suffering from color depth changes after resume) and Xorg.0.log_hardnut (refers to the other laptop without any issue after resume) Please, find the difference between the two files here below. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 510001] Re: [lucid alpha-2][radeon] Color depth degradation after resume (ATI Mobility Radeon X700)
After reinstalling my system using the alpha 3 CD, this issue disappeared. Therefore this bug has been corrected and should not be considered as a bug anymore. But simply using daily upgrade of my computer from an earlier installation (alpha 2) has not resolved this problem. I would be grateful if somebody could suggest how to prepare the upgrade process to take effect on such modifications along with closing this bug. -- [lucid alpha-2][radeon] Color depth degradation after resume (ATI Mobility Radeon X700) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
