You seem to be using xorg-edgers, mind reverting back to raring packages
and trying again?

2013-03-05 Thread Chris Wilson
Hmm, X is indeed only setting up 2 pipes. The question remains is
whether it is cloning one of those pipes to multiple outputs - it should
be possible with the HDMI outputs. You don't mention which display is
upset, which would be helpful. Can you also gather a drm.debug=6 dmesg
from a failed boot?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1140513] Re: X doesn't initialize displays properly on sandybridge when 3 screens connected

2013-03-05 Thread Alex
It's the VGA display that's unhappy. My default config for ARANDR, and
therefore the one that the machine often shuts down and boots up as, is
DVI + VGA enabled, HDMI disabled.

I notice, however, that on the screens that load prior to initializing X
(the Ubuntu logo and the text output that's occasionally visible for
half a a second as the machine is shutting down or resuming from sleep),
the resolution seems to be 1280x720 (either stretched or not,
depending), which is that of the HDMI projector. the VGA and DVI
displays are both 1680x1050.

If I hadn't been clear, I'm not experiencing failed boots -- just one of
my monitors is unhappy until I disable and reenable it.
