Hi, I have this same problem, can anyone help please? Im running an ATI Radeon Cedar HD5450 graphics card and using the open source driver, I've tried a fresh install of Unity. The freeze mainly happens when I'm using Video, so I figured it would probably be something to do with the Graphics card. Sorry, my comment dissappeared. I also have (this?) problem with GNOME3 and Ubuntu 14.04 I have Radeon HD5450 and open source radeon driver. It freezes occasionaly (every 30 min or so). I have to wait for half a minute or so and then system becomes responsive again. I tried using proprietary driver and it works - no freezing (altough it is worse than open driver, in many ways :) ). I can upload any needed log. Ok Timo, could you please elaborate? What exactly does that mean? I have installed the PF-Kernel, based on the 3.14 Mainline Ubuntu Kernel, and I've never had a freeze again! Except for some troubles with Flash in Firefox, that made me force close the browser, the freezes never happended again! So, what does your unique, and very short sentence means? Is there a better specific answer to my problem that you can provide? Do you need more data? What should I do to solve the problem, when using tha mainline 3.14.1 Ubuntu Kernel?
