[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 372841] Re: [X1400] Cursor vanishes in narrow vertical strip of 2nd display

2014-01-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Stephen Boddy, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 372841] Re: [X1400] Cursor vanishes in narrow vertical strip of 2nd display

2010-06-15 Thread Adam Dorsey
My issue was fixed by going to System-Preferences-Monitors and
checking the alignment of the monitors. One of mine was shifted
slightly upward relative to the other, and the virtual desktop was out
of whack as a result. I dragged them so that they were even
horizontally, and it fixed my problem.

I can also confirm this issue.

Radeon HD 3450, dual monitors by using System-Preferences-Monitors,
xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.13.0-1ubuntu5. Whenever I mouse to the top
of the main screen to click a button on my panel, if I mouse too far the

2009-10-07 Thread Shane O'Connell
I'm seeing this issue as well, using version
1:6.12.99+git20090825.fc74e119-0ubuntu3 with an ATI Radeon HD 3870, two
monitors at 1280x1024. The vertical strip appears on the right side
monitor, on the left side of it's screen and it's about the width of the
mouse cursor itself.

I also had to manually edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf as well, the graphical
configuration tool set the Virtual size incorrectly and I had to change
it to Virtual 2560 1024.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 372841] Re: [X1400] Cursor vanishes in narrow vertical strip of 2nd display

2009-09-18 Thread Stephen Boddy
The problem is still present but, and it could be my imagination, the
width of the strip seems a bit thinner. However I did this test with a
different monitor setup as well:

Primary:
  1680x1050 (16:10) @ 60 Hz (Laptop 15) LVDS
Secondary:
1280x768 (16:10) @ 60 Hz (MED 30) VGA (Dodgy cheap TV in my furnished rental
flat)

I also had to manually edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf to get the extended desktop to
work.
Under Karmic it stated the need to edit the virtual resolution and if I wanted
to change it. I answered yes, but it kept setting it to Virtual 2048 2048,
which didn't work, and it kept repeating the question. I manually changed it to
Virtual 2960 1056 which permitted the extended desktop to work.

Hi Bryce, I'm not using the PPA that you have pointed to. Instead I'm using the
latest PPA's from Tormod Volden.
1:6.12.99+git20090830.3d6bf0f8-0ubuntu0tormod
These were checked out from the git repo on 30/08/09, so are slightly newer
than the ones in your PPA.

The issue is still present in these latest builds.

2009-08-29 Thread Bryce Harrington
[This is an automatic notification.]

A new version of the -ati driver is now available in Karmic.

This is a significant update to -ati which brings in kernel mode-setting
(currently disabled) and scores of fixes for DRI2, EXA, etc.

I've posted the new version of this driver to the following PPA,
would you mind testing it and seeing if it resolves the bug you
reported?

https://edge.launchpad.net/~bryceharrington/+archive/ppa/+sourcepub/709908
/+listing-archive-extra

If you're not running this release of Ubuntu, you can try booting the Karmic
LiveCD and loading the PPA onto it, and then log out/in to restart X.
ISOs are available at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/

After testing Karmic, report back here whether it's still an issue or not,
and if it is please post a fresh Xorg.0.log and 'dmesg' output.

Note there could be new bugs... please file these as new reports using
the command 'ubuntu-bug xorg'.
