[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 415692] Re: I cannot disable touchpad tapping because there is no option on the mouse preferences dalog and gsynaptics will not run.
xinput can be used on the command line to enable or disable tapping, via the Synaptics Tap Action property. There are also properties for changing the speed, sensitivity, etc. See `man synaptics` and `man xinput` for more information. However, the bug report appears to be requesting a GUI mechanism for adjusting these parameters, so I am reassigning this bug report to gnome-control-center as a wishlist bug for requesting the gui dialog to set them. ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) = gnome- control-center (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Low = Wishlist ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/415692 Title: I cannot disable touchpad tapping because there is no option on the mouse preferences dalog and gsynaptics will not run. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I don't even get that tab on the mouse dialog. I have a weird touch pad that I think is incorrectly identified. But I just kind of live with it because I have searched all over the internet and nothing works. Not only did that not fix the touchpad problem, when I rebooted I discovered that Ubuntu will not even boot up. It appears that a new kernal was installed and gnome seems to start but I only get the command line. Now I have to reinstall ubuntu just to get it to work.
