Hi! I know this is closed but I'm getting the same *ERROR* radeon: couldn't schedule IB error flooding all ttys and the screen doesn't respond to clicks. Can only use reset switch to reboot. I have a custom built computer with a Radeon X1900 video card. This started a little over a week ago and frequents about once a day sometimes every other day. I don't use firefox, just chrome for browsing and lots of java. uname -a: Linux3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:20:46 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I hope this information can help solve the problem. I was experiencing a similar one after upgrading to 11.10 - garbage on the screen, and *ERROR* radeon: couldn't schedule IB flooding in dmesg. Restarting gdm didn't fix it. Could still see the mouse move, but everything else was garbled. I can confirm this bug using Ubuntu 10.04 on a HP Compaq 6715s with a Radeon X1200. The screen freezes except the cursor. In tty(x) the above posted error message keeps rolling. Me as well I had the impression this was connected to a certain homepage I opened in Firefox, can't be sure though. I haven't made any upgrades. Looks like I may have the same error. It first occurred after I updated the packages below. So far, the error occurs every time I reboot, but the onset varies. Sometimes the system freezes before the login screen even comes up, other times it freezes at the login screen, and a few times I've been able to login and start doing things before the system froze (but never for more than a few minutes). When the system's frozen, Ctrl + Alt + F1 won't work. However, I did manage to get logged into tty1 *before* a freeze and observed the Faild to schedule IB errors. #4 No. In this case the screen doesn't jump or wraps. Simply it freezes. You can move the mouse, you can click anywhere but nothing occurs because the graphics have hanged up. The only thing you can do is press Ctrl + Alt + F1. In Karmic Koala this bug wasn't present. I updated from Karmic to Lucid and i had this bug. Later, i did a new install of Lucid and i had this bug too. It's a very sodding bug. It occurs me all days and you must restart the machine to continue. #4, #5 I've the same as songohan82, except I do not face this problem every day (lucky me!) and that for my part it doesn't seem to be related to Firefox at all.
