Hi Bryce, Testing the other iso images of Oneiric up to Oneiric final I did not have this problem any more and I cannot reproduce it, so I think this bug is in a kind of a way solved. I had to test Oneiric Beta 2 20110921.1 image (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20110921.1/oneiric-desktop-amd64.iso) and I discovered that this crash does not occur any more, while with 20110920 image it happened everytime I used to start the persistent USB key. Ah. The invalid pointer bit is a red herring. The actual problem here is that X is segfaulting in your input driver - evdev_drv. Annoyingly, this is the only frame in your backtrace which hasn't been successfully retraced. If you can reproduce this crash, could you please try following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and installing the xserver-xorg-input-evdev-dbgsym package before reproducing it? I have just a couple of questions before getting you a Valgrind log - must I download the Oneiric Beta 1 iso image [20110901] to get you the test (is this image still downloadable ?) - and, obviously, I must get you the logs from a live USB persistent key created with the iso at the previous image.
