[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 860050] Re: LightDM comes back to greeter after login in and "nvidia" logo
hi. Check all the files in /etc/ld.so.conf.d and /etc/X11/Xsession.d . It you added a line that ruins everything..I think that this is the place to look for. Either that or make a vbox with ubuntu with a fresh install and replace these two directories with original ones ;). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 860050] Re: LightDM comes back to greeter after login in and "nvidia" logo
I have the exact same symptoms (with ddxSigGiveUp as last line) but never added a line in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/ I'll check if i see something in 90preserve_ld_library_path (computer is away right now). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/860050 Title: LightDM comes back to greeter after login in and "nvidia" logo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/860050/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 860050] Re: LightDM comes back to greeter after login in and "nvidia" logo
Can someone close this. I've found it. It was related to /etc/ld.so.conf I had a usr/bin/env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib32/nvidia-current/ in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90preserve_ld_library_path and that was the problem I removed the line I had added in the past and now it works. ** Description changed: Description: Ubuntu oneiric (development branch) Release: 11.10 lightdm: - Installed: 0.9.7-0ubuntu1 - Candidate: 0.9.7-0ubuntu1 - Version table: - *** 0.9.7-0ubuntu1 0 - 500 http://ftp.free.org/mirrors/archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages - 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status + Installed: 0.9.7-0ubuntu1 + Candidate: 0.9.7-0ubuntu1 + Version table: + *** 0.9.7-0ubuntu1 0 + 500 http://ftp.free.org/mirrors/archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages + 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I can't login to any window manager. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 860050] Re: LightDM comes back to greeter after login in and "nvidia" logo
I don't really thing the problem is nvidia related. If I remove nvidia 3rd party drivers and go with nv driver the same thing happens. no gdm no lightdm , gdm is ok and startx is ok. It's like if when I do startx I don't have .xstartup fileI purged lightdm and gdm and installed again..still same problem.
