Re: [UlsterAncestry] Some genealogy news
There are some real gems here, Teena — thank you for pointing them out. A lot of Irish wound up in England as soldiers in barracks at Chatham, as seamen in one of several dockyards (Royal Navy or Coast Guard), or as pensioners who elected to stay on in England, Scotland, or Wales. The Catholic records have been *invaluable* to me in finding more of my Burkes (county Mayo). Ten years ago, the parish clerk (for a church in Southwark district) told me that they permitted only descendants to look at the parish registers which, for most of us, would require at trip abroad. So, these online records are a real boon to Irish research and well worth the rummage. ... and lots to look for the in the Australian and New Zealand records, too. best, Alison On 2022-04-25 12:24 a.m., Teena wrote: A a new blog post on One Irish Rover- The Ploughman Alone is King https://bit.ly/3xQNqee John Grenham's blog on IrishGenealogy.ie https://bit.ly/3vIEncm "Tyrone Among the Bushes" The Complete Works of Felix Kearney https://bit.ly/3rNWo8b MyHeritage & Anzac Day (sorry I just received this info on the 24th!) Re: [UlsterAncestry] Some genealogy news
Thanks Teena. The Grenham article was particularly enlightening. Thanks also - as always- for all that you do. These days, I am like a truffle pig focused on a species of underground mushrooms called JACKSON. Recently, I have zeroed in on Armagh, but some of them have underground mycelium with tendrils that reach into Tyrone. :) Sharon Oddie Brown.
